The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 414: Giving In
Chen Erbao froze, his mind racing.
‘I can’t believe Zhao Ruoying’s family is also a member of the commerce association…’
“Then what’s the deal with this vice-president?”
Chen Erbao asked.
Lin Zhiqing lifted her delicate chin, thought for a moment, and said hesitantly,
“I don’t remember clearly. I think it’s an old, established company from Binhai. They’re not that powerful, but because the founder has been around for a long time and has a good reputation in the Binhai business circle, he was elected vice-president.”
She finished with a small smile, as if worried Chen Erbao might be concerned, and offered a word of comfort,
“Don’t worry about it. He’s just a vice-president. As long as it’s not the Huang Family, every other company has to show some respect to our Medicine King Hall. When my second uncle gets here, I’ll just have him handle it.”
“Mm.”
Chen Erbao nodded, but his mind was still pondering the connection between this incident and the Huang Family…
The Patrol officers didn’t dare let Chen Erbao leave, but they also couldn’t just do nothing, so they began asking for a detailed account of what had happened.
Medicine King Hall was famous, but the vice-president of the Celestial Harmony Commerce Association was no pushover either. Caught in the middle, they found themselves in a difficult position and could only wait for both sides to call in their backers and settle things privately.
Lin Cheng arrived quickly. Less than five minutes after Lin Zhiqing made the call, he was at the scene.
“Zhiqing, Er Bao, how are you? Are you hurt?”
Lin Cheng approached from a distance with his secretary, dressed in a sharp suit. His expression was calm, and he carried himself with a distinguished air.
The Patrol officers were startled and hurried over to greet him respectfully.
“President Lin!”
They were often on duty at this intersection and clearly recognized the head of Hongyuan City’s Medicine King Hall. Now they were all wondering about Chen Erbao and Lin Zhiqing’s identities. To think they could get Lin Cheng to show up in person!
The young man merely glanced at Lin Cheng and snorted, paying him no mind.
Medicine King Hall was formidable, but he didn’t think Chen Erbao and Lin Zhiqing were anyone important there. It never occurred to him that he had just provoked Medicine King Hall’s little princess.
He thought that his status as the vice-president’s son was enough to deal with ordinary members of Medicine King Hall, or even its senior executives!
Lin Zhiqing gave Lin Cheng a sweet smile and ran up to hug his arm.
“Second Uncle, we’re fine…”
Chen Erbao also went up with a grin to greet him.
“Uncle Lin, I’m so sorry. We’ve troubled you again!”
Lin Cheng waved his hand dismissively.
“It’s nothing. As long as you’re all right, that’s what matters.”
Although it was just a pleasantry, he truly didn’t think Chen Erbao could get into any real trouble.
After all, the fact that Chen Erbao was an Ancient Martial Artist was no longer a secret; most of the senior management at Medicine King Hall already knew.
‘What kind of accident could possibly befall a young Ancient Martial Grandmaster?’
‘As long as he doesn’t cause any trouble, it’s fine.’
Lin Zhiqing leaned in and whispered a few words in Lin Cheng’s ear. Lin Cheng’s expression darkened slightly but quickly returned to normal as he turned to look at the young man, who still had blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make a call.”
He said in a relaxed tone.
‘If this were the son of the Celestial Alliance’s president, he might have some reservations. But the son of a mere vice-president…’
‘The Celestial Alliance has seven or eight vice-presidents. All of them combined wouldn’t dare to act so insolently toward Medicine King Hall!’
Just as he took out his phone, four or five men in suits came running from a distance, led by a refined-looking young man with glasses.
“Xu Chang!”
Seeing the young man’s battered state, the spectacled man was first shocked, then hurriedly quickened his pace to his side, his face a mask of fury and alarm.
“Who did this!”
With backup now present, Xu Chang’s courage returned. He straightened up and stared coldly at Chen Erbao.
The spectacled man followed his gaze to Chen Erbao and, with a cold expression, waved a hand to the four men in suits beside him.
“Break one of his legs first, we’ll talk later!”
Upon hearing the command, the suited bodyguards advanced on Chen Erbao without the slightest hesitation.
Even with Patrol officers all around, they paid them no mind!
The one who was hurt was the son of a Celestial Harmony Commerce Association vice-president. What were a few Patrol officers in comparison!
And just as expected, the surrounding Patrol officers only repeated, “Calm down, calm down,” but not a single one dared to step forward and intervene.
“Fucking arrogant, aren’t we? Why didn’t you have the guts to call them earlier?”
Chen Erbao sneered. Seeing the four bodyguards rushing him, he didn’t wait for Lin Cheng to speak. With a flicker of his body, he vanished from his spot.
“THUD, THUD, THUD…”
After a few muffled thuds, Chen Erbao reappeared by Lin Zhiqing’s side. The four bodyguards were now lying sprawled on the ground, unable to get back up.
The spectacled man and Xu Chang were stunned. They instinctively took two steps back, not expecting their men to be defeated so quickly!
Lin Cheng, too, was inwardly startled.
Although he knew Chen Erbao was a young Grandmaster, witnessing a Grandmaster in action from such a close distance was still somewhat shocking.
‘So this is the power of an Ancient Martial Artist…’
Given his position in Medicine King Hall, he naturally had contact with Ancient Martial Artists. In fact, Medicine King Hall had a resident Grandmaster stationed in Hongyuan City. However, under normal circumstances, they rarely had the chance to see a Grandmaster personally make a move.
With all four bodyguards down, the spectacled man and Xu Chang finally recognized the severity of the situation, especially Xu Chang.
He stared at Chen Erbao with a grave expression, not even bothering with his own injuries.
“An Ancient Martial Artist!”
Chen Erbao grinned at him, flashing two rows of brilliant white teeth.
Meanwhile, Lin Cheng had already dialed a number.
“Hello? President Xu, long time no see…”
Lin Cheng spoke on the phone for a moment before quickly hanging up.
Xu Chang heard Lin Cheng’s words, and his face turned even uglier. He hadn’t expected the man to be able to contact his father directly.
The moment Lin Cheng put his phone down, Xu Chang’s phone rang.
“Hello, Dad…”
Chen Erbao had no interest in what was being said on the other end of the line, but he saw Xu Chang’s expression grow increasingly sour, until finally his whole face turned black.
He grunted an unwilling “mm,” walked up to Chen Erbao, muttered a deadpan “I’m sorry,” then turned and walked away.
The Patrol officers didn’t dare to stop him, watching helplessly as he left.
After Xu Chang had gone, Lin Cheng said to Chen Erbao,
“The matter is resolved. Let’s head back for now.”
The three of them drove back to Medicine King Hall and took the elevator to Lin Cheng’s office.
“Er Bao, the medicinal herbs from Bailong Mountain are excellent. I already looked them over this morning. When are you planning to start large-scale planting?”
Lin Cheng asked with a chuckle inside the elevator.
The incident from before was just a minor interruption; for someone of Lin Cheng’s status, it caused not the slightest ripple.
Chen Erbao brought his thoughts back to the present and said with a smile,
“Uncle Lin, I can start anytime. I have to make a trip to Binhai in a couple of days, so we can just have someone take the seeds over and plant them.”
“Alright. We’ll discuss the quantities and varieties in a bit. The sooner we start planting, the better!”
Upon arriving at the office, Chen Erbao discovered a vigorous-looking old man standing inside.
The old man’s eyes were bright and piercing. The moment Chen Erbao entered, his gaze shifted over, filled with curiosity and scrutiny.
“And this is…?”
Chen Erbao also sensed the considerable fluctuations of Inner Strength from the old man’s body. Clearly, the other party was also an Ancient Martial Grandmaster!
