The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 415: The Ancient Martial Artist of Medicine King Hall
Lin Cheng smiled and introduced:
“Let me introduce you. This is Elder Hong, a guest elder of Medicine King Hall. Elder Hong, this is Chen Erbao, the partner I mentioned to you before. He is also a young Grandmaster!”
Elder Hong had an ordinary appearance, but he was full of vitality. His limbs were short but thick and powerful, and he wore a simple long gown.
He sized up Chen Erbao for a few moments, inwardly surprised, and said with a chuckle:
“The younger generation is truly formidable. I never thought I’d live to see an Ancient Martial Grandmaster so young. May I ask who your master is?”
Seeing how polite the other man was, Chen Erbao cupped his fist in return and replied:
“You flatter me, old sir…”
He then recited the same excuse he had used hundreds of times before—about the old doctor in a mountain village.
Elder Hong was clearly taken aback, a look of astonishment in his eyes:
“To think such an extraordinary person exists! A Grandmaster as young as you is a rarity, even among the great Ancient Martial Arts sects. Your master must be a remarkable expert!”
After sighing with emotion, Elder Hong didn’t dwell on the matter.
He had only intended to see Medicine King Hall’s new partner for himself. Since he couldn’t find out about Chen Erbao’s master, he said no more and took his leave from Lin Cheng.
After Elder Hong left, Lin Cheng poured Chen Erbao a cup of hot tea.
“Er Bao, honestly, when we first met, I never would have guessed you were an Ancient Martial Artist!”
Chen Erbao gave a wry smile.
“Uncle Lin, it’s not just you—even I didn’t know. If I hadn’t run into the Security Bureau last time I was out, I would have never even known Ancient Martial Artists existed. My master only taught me Martial Arts and medicine, nothing else!”
Lin Cheng sighed wistfully.
“Reclusive masters all have their eccentricities… Let’s discuss the types of medicinal herbs…”
The two of them talked in the office for nearly half an hour, finally settling on all the medicinal herbs that needed to be cultivated.
Lin Zhiqing had been bored, scrolling through short videos on her phone. When the two finally finished their discussion, she turned off her phone.
“Are you two finally done? Second Uncle, I want to go shopping with Er Bao, or we’ll run out of time.”
Lin Cheng glanced at his niece with a smile and said helplessly:
“You, all you think about is having fun! You need to work hard at Er Bao’s company so you’ll have something to show your parents when you go home for the New Year. Otherwise, don’t even think about coming back out here next year!”
There was a hidden meaning in Lin Cheng’s words, seemingly as a reminder for Chen Erbao.
Chen Erbao, of course, understood. He just smiled without saying anything.
“That won’t work, Second Uncle. When I go home for the New Year, you have to help me convince my dad. What’s the point of me staying at home…”
Lin Cheng glanced at Chen Erbao and refused.
“I can’t help you with that. You’ll have to talk to him yourself!”
“Hmph!”
Lin Zhiqing grunted in displeasure.
“By the way, Er Bao, are you going to Binhai in the next couple of days?” Lin Cheng asked, changing the subject.
Lin Zhiqing looked up, about to mention the Huang Family, but Chen Erbao calmly spoke first:
“That’s right. I have some personal business to take care of, so I might be there for a while. But don’t worry, Uncle Lin, I’ve already made arrangements for the herb cultivation on Bailong Mountain and the face mask company’s business. There won’t be any issues.”
Lin Cheng nodded.
“Be careful in Binhai. If you need any help, just give me a call.”
Since Chen Erbao didn’t elaborate, Lin Cheng didn’t ask what he was doing there. After all, Chen Erbao’s relationship with Medicine King Hall was already close enough. Not only were they business partners, but he had also managed to win over Medicine King Hall’s little princess, even if he hadn’t yet received her parents’ approval.
However, Lin Cheng felt that the title of ‘young Grandmaster’ was more than enough.
The two chatted for a few more minutes before Lin Zhiqing finally dragged Chen Erbao out of Medicine King Hall.
“Er Bao, why didn’t you let me tell Second Uncle about the Huang Family? With his help, things would definitely be easier for you!”
In the car, Lin Zhiqing asked coaxingly, tugging on Chen Erbao’s sleeve.
Chen Erbao affectionately patted Lin Zhiqing’s head and joked:
“The Huang Family is a huge mess. I don’t want to owe your uncle too many favors. Otherwise, when I go to your house to propose, your parents might not have a very good impression of me!”
“Who said I’d marry you!”
Lin Zhiqing turned her head away haughtily, a triumphant smile playing on her lips as she watched the buildings fly by outside the window.
Chen Erbao chuckled softly and said no more, driving toward the factory in the suburbs.
He actually had his reasons for not mentioning the Huang Family to Lin Cheng.
The Huang Family was extremely powerful, and Medicine King Hall would likely hesitate to get involved. If he had brought it up, Lin Cheng would have been put in a difficult position. Helping him might harm Medicine King Hall’s interests, but not helping would strain their relationship.
By not saying anything, he saved everyone the awkwardness.
The fewer parties involved, the freer he would be to act without worrying about too many complications.
‘Huang Sanlang, I hope you don’t disappoint me…’
…
Around three in the afternoon, after returning to the suburban factory, Chen Erbao brought Bai Xiaoqing and Lin Zhiqing to the assembly line workshop.
He had already memorized the perfume formula. Now, he just needed to teach the production process to the workers. After he left, the perfume production line could officially begin operations.
“President Chen, what would be an appropriate amount for the initial investment?”
Bai Xiaoqing hadn’t expected Chen Erbao to be ready to produce a second product so quickly.
“Let’s prepare two thousand units for the first batch and see what the market feedback is like. We can decide on further investment after that.”
Chen Erbao had Bai Xiaoqing bring over a few experienced workers and was personally guiding them through the operational procedures.
All the necessary medicinal herbs were available at the factory, making the process very convenient.
The perfume-making process wasn’t difficult. The trickiest parts were the precise measurements and order of each medicinal herb, and finally, using water infused with Spiritual Qi to blend it all together. As long as these steps were followed, they could create the exact perfume Chen Erbao wanted.
Under Chen Erbao’s guidance, it took the workers just over three hours to successfully produce the perfume. Lin Zhiqing and Bai Xiaoqing leaned in curiously, sniffing the pale green liquid in the container, and their eyes widened in surprise at the same time.
“It smells so good! It’s like being in a forest~”
Lin Zhiqing delightedly dipped her finger in the perfume solution and dabbed it on the back of her hand.
Bai Xiaoqing also loved the lighter fragrance; it had the quiet tranquility of a bamboo grove, a perfect match for her personality.
Seeing that both women were satisfied, Chen Erbao smiled, wrote down the formula’s sequence and measurements, and handed it to Bai Xiaoqing.
“Since there are no objections, let’s get the samples made quickly, apply for the relevant permits, and launch the product!”
Bai Xiaoqing’s eyes were filled with astonishment and admiration. She really couldn’t understand how Chen Erbao could develop a second product so quickly.
“Er Bao, this one will definitely be a bestseller, absolutely… How should we price it?”
“I don’t know anything about that. You can figure it out based on the cost. To be honest, this is just a small side product. It would be great if it sells well, but it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t…”
While Chen Erbao and Bai Xiaoqing discussed pricing and costs off to the side, Lin Zhiqing watched them, lost in thought.
In her excitement just now, Bai Xiaoqing had even stopped calling him President Chen. Chen Erbao hadn’t noticed this detail, but she had!
‘Hmph, I’m laying my cards on the table tonight, Sister Xiaoqing. Let’s see what you have to say then!’
