Chapter 56: Chapter 56 - end of the floor

I smiled at that and nodded. "That’s the spirit. Let’s go and flatten this whole building."

Then something hit me.

"Hey, Nyx."

She looked at me and asked, "What?"

"How about we get defeated by the next floor, get outside, and blow up the whole building? That’s a sure way to win."

Her eyes twitched.

"How are we going up then, genius?"

That hit me, and I looked to the side.

"Then how about we carve an opening in the wall and climb the building? When we get to the top, we can make another hole and enter."

I said it with a proud smile, as if saying, See? Praise me. I’m a genius.

She just shook her head.

"Don’t think about that nonsense. Let’s climb the building."

I looked at her disdainfully.

"Hey, don’t underestimate my brilliant brainpower."

She just stayed silent, and we went to the next floor. I followed her.

"Hey, don’t ignore me. One day, you’ll realize how amazing I am, and then you’ll regret ignoring me."

She just rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. That day is far from here, so I’ll take care when it happens."

I just puffed out my cheeks and waited until we fully recovered. We didn’t get hurt much, so soon we returned to our perfect condition.

Then we entered the 44th floor.

We waited for the monsters to come.

Just like before, I got prepared for them.

Suddenly, a skeleton appeared from the floor with a sword. I immediately cut it down with my dark thread.

I looked around for more and saw many skeletons appearing from the ground. Then a main one appeared with a massive orb in the chest of the skeleton.

"It’s a Lich."

I looked at Nyx.

"Aim for that ugly Lich. Until we kill it, these skeletons will keep coming."

She nodded, and we both went toward the skeletons.

I used my dark threads to kill them, then immediately switched to my sword and used Aura on it along with Black Flame.

I augmented myself with it as well and attacked.

But a big skeleton spawned in front of me and blocked my attack. However, my attack cut through that skeleton instead.

Then another one appeared.

They were countless.

I brainstormed for solutions, but nothing came to mind.

Then Nyx called out, "Hey, Asher! Keep them busy for a while."

I nodded.

Whatever she said, I trusted her.

So I took both of my swords, a crazy grin appearing on my face, and rushed toward them.

Let’s see what these boneheads have to offer.

I went forward and cut them down like a machine. I wouldn’t let any of them get the chance to spawn again. I killed them as soon as they appeared.

My swords were coated with Aura, and they cut those bone bastards like cheese.

But when I came close to the Lich, a stronger skeleton appeared and blocked me.

Nyx used that moment to sweep through all of them and plunge her sword into the Lich, freezing it completely.

Then she finished it with a punch, and all the skeletons began to disappear into light particles.

[Congratulations. You cleared Floor 44.]

Then I looked at her and put away my sword before giving her a high five.

"Good job, Nyx. Let’s go to the next floor."

Like that, we continued moving through the floors until we reached the 49th floor. Each floor gave us one level and 10 points in all attributes, so our strength grew alongside our levels.

We met two bosses on the 45th floor, and on the last floor, we met three bosses.

Now, we had finally arrived at the 50th floor.

I looked at Nyx.

"Are you ready? After this, you need to give me a kiss. At least, how am I going to recover from this much stress alone?"

Nyx’s eyes twitched.

"You know something? You are really a scoundrel."

I grinned at that.

"Thank you for the compliment. So that’s a yes?"

She showed a mysterious smile and said, "We’ll see about that."

My eyes lit up.

She didn’t refuse.

Yeeey! I’m crossing another milestone in our relationship.

As for the 50th floor, the monsters were just cannon fodder for my love life. They should be grateful to accomplish such a great mission for their worthless lives.

A cold light appeared on my face as I entered the boss room.

This is the final one. Let’s see what we got.

For the kiss, I will obliterate this monster into scrap.

I looked at Nyx.

"You better keep your word, Nyx. I’m going to kill this monster as soon as possible."

Nyx looked at me with bewilderment.

Then the monster appeared.

"Ah, what’s with this Tower? Is it broken? It’s a big lizard."

Nyx almost spat out blood. She hit the back of my head.

"That’s a dragon, you idiot!"

I rubbed my head with a wronged expression.

"How am I supposed to know? That lizard looks like a lizard to me. A big one."

She just sighed, and the dragon became enraged as well, as if it had felt my insult.

It looked at me and breathed fire.

I immediately avoided it and said to Nyx, "Hey, Nyx, let’s get some water. That lizard must have eaten some chili or something. It must be in pain."

"Ah, I forgot I have the Water element."

So I made a big water ball, aimed it at the lizard’s mouth, and shot it.

Nyx stopped mid-step and covered her mouth.

"Hey, Asher, be serious. That’s a dragon—"

In the middle of her speech, she saw the big water ball go into the dragon’s mouth, and the dragon closed its mouth.

Nyx just stared at it with her mouth hanging open.

The dragon became enraged and screamed.

I looked at Nyx and said, "See? The dragon must be thankful for my help. I feel bad for killing such a pitiful lizard, but I have no choice."

"You have to die so I can have my kiss."

I used my sword and attacked with all my might, but the sword broke against its powerful scales.

I looked at my sword.

"Hey, you bastard lizard! I had to bargain many times and scam a lot to get that sword from that old geezer! How dare you?"

I took out my other sword and tried to attack, but the lizard attacked me with one of its claws.

I went flying while Nyx continued battling the lizard.

I got up from the floor.

"Ah, that lizard is powerful. I have to be careful."

Ungrateful little shit. I kindly helped him when he was in distress. Is this how he repays me? I’ll show him what happens when he messes with me.

Nyx kept attacking the weak points of the dragon and dealing small amounts of damage to its body.

I drank a high-level healing potion and went toward the lizard again.

I’ll show this bastard who’s the boss.

A big lizard dared to show me attitude. I would make sure it died by my hand.

I went around the lizard and looked at its body. It had lots of scales.

I wonder why this is a cross between a fish and a lizard.

I don’t judge. Don’t worry. I only kill you. I don’t judge your origin.

I went forward and used everything I had on my sword, aiming an attack at its neck.

I only had my Obsidian Sword left, so I poured all my strength into this attack and cut toward its neck.

A deep cut appeared on its neck, and I screamed, "Nyx! Go and find a wound and use Frost Fire on its body. Let’s make this lizard die by freezing!"

I wanted to use Water to drown this bastard, but after seeing its scales, I determined that this must be a cross between a fish and a lizard, so it must have Water resistance, or Water might even empower it.

After all, fish like water, and I remembered how happily this lizard screamed when I put the water ball into its mouth.

So I came to the final decision to let Nyx handle this.

Even a fish can’t survive when it’s frozen.

But what if it’s a group project and a penguin is included when it’s born?

Then we’re cooked.

Nah, I don’t think so. Let’s kill this lizard bastard. Then the kiss is on the table.

My grin widened as I looked at Nyx. She went forward, placed her hand on the wound, and injected Frost Fire into the dragon’s body.

To take the attention of the lizard, I went forward and used all my remaining strength, mana, and Aura in my fist. Then I punched as hard as I could into the lizard’s face.

I used a Dark Claw to cover my hand beforehand so the punch would hit even harder.

With that attack, all of my strength and mana were drained.

But the lizard’s face was knocked to the side, and it screamed in pain from the freezing inside its body, the bleeding from its neck, and the force of my punch.

The lizard finally died.
