Chapter 44: Chapter 44 - make predictions for next floor

We walked toward our rooms, and Nyx just looked at me with amusement. She still remembered the awkward confession and saw that now I didn’t dare to look at her and just walked toward the room.

And we finally came to our rooms. I said, "Nyx, we forgot to report that we completed the mission. How about we go there tomorrow? I’m really tired today and sleepy."

She looked at my tired face, and a warm smile appeared on her face. She nodded, opened her door, and tried to go inside and wait.

I turned and opened my door as well. Our rooms are face to face.

Then Nyx called me. "Asher."

I stopped my motion to enter the room and looked at her. She came closer and said, "I have to give you something."

I looked at her in surprise and asked, "What is it?"

She came closer, grabbed my head, and immediately kissed my cheek, then turned away and ran to her room and closed the door, leaving behind only the words, "Let’s meet tomorrow. Good night."

I looked at her practically running, touched my cheek, and a subconscious smile appeared on my face. I returned to my room and immediately went to the washroom and took a good shower.

With that, all the exhaustion faded away and energy seeped into me.

Then I put on clean clothes, went to the bed, and slept peacefully.

I fell into a deep sleep and slept like a log.

And after a full sleep I finally woke up in the morning, stretched, rubbed my eyes, and got up.

And I dragged myself into the washroom, took a shower, freshened up, put on the uniform, went out of the room, and waited for Nyx to come.

I waited for about 10 minutes, and she finally came from her room as well. She is vibrant as usual: dark uniform, long black hair, and bright blue sharp eyes.

Her intense bright blue eyes met mine, and I smiled at her. "Good morning, Nyx."

Her face was a little red, but quickly she composed herself and greeted me back. "Good morning, Asher."

I grinned and decided not to tease her and said, "How about we go to the cafeteria and then let’s go report about the tower?"

She nodded, and we both left for the cafeteria, and I started a conversation.

"Hey, Nyx, how about we go to the tower tomorrow? It’s a waste to spend a whole week."

She too thought about it and realized we were already proficient with sword and magic, so it’s really a waste to spend so much time in training. Instead we can go to the battleground and get real combat experience.

So she nodded and said, "That’s true. It’s a good idea. We don’t get much improvement, so it’s good to conquer the tower floors."

We made it to the cafeteria, so I went and took a plate and went to get as much food as I like.

I filled up the plate to the brim.

Nyx looked at me and asked, "Where are you fitting all that food? How do you stay slim besides eating for many people?"

I glared at her. "That’s none of your business, and I’m still a young man who is still growing, so I have to eat."

She smiled, and we ate the food while talking about the tower.

Then we left to report about the tower clearing.

I knocked on the door and heard, "Come in."

So we both entered together and saw the same old woman sitting beside a table full of paperwork.

She looked at us and immediately recognized us. "Oh, you cleared another floor, kid."

I nodded, and she looked at Nyx and asked, "So how’s your progress with this girl? Did you propose yet?"

I looked at her, my eyes wide. Why the hell did she start a conversation with that?

Nonetheless I replied, "A-a-a, about that. Yes, I told her about my feelings."

The old lady’s eyes widened, and she asked in a gossip tone, "So what’s the result? Did she agree?"

"Tell me the story, kiddo. What happened between you two?"

"Did she accept or reject you?"

I just waved my head and said, "Neither of them. We decided to take things slowly, but we established that we like each other, but we’re going to start the relationship when we’re truly ready."

Her eyes gleamed, and she said, "So that means you succeeded in pursuing her. Congratulations, kiddo."

I thanked her, and she said, "So that means you can call her girlfriend, right?"

I thought about it for a moment and nodded with a grin.

And Nyx, who was on the side and got ignored for the moment she walked toward the room,

looked at the situation with a dumbfounded expression. She thought to herself, When did these two get close this much? It’s only been one meeting he had with this old woman, but now both talk like old friends.

Nyx looked at us and coughed to get the attention, so we looked at her.

She said, "You two act like I’m not here. What kind of things are you two plotting?"

The old woman smiled by seeing the redness on her face and said, "Oh, nothing, dear. We just talked about your wedding."

She said it so naturally that Nyx subconsciously nodded her head. "Ah, that’s it."

Then the information hit her head. "What did you say? Wedding? Whose wedding?"

I looked at the scene and laughed out loud.

The old woman looked at Nyx and said, "Oh, I just teased you a little. Don’t mind it. So you two completed the 3rd floor, right?"

We nodded and told her, "We are planning to clear floors continuously by taking one day of rest. We thought that’s more efficient and effective."

She nodded. "Yes, that’s more efficient and effective, but it’s also the most dangerous. Are you two ready to take the risk?"

We both nodded, and she smiled and said it’s a good idea, but it’s unnecessary.

We looked at her in surprise and asked, "Why is it unnecessary?"

She smiled and said, "In most cases floors number 5–10 are connected, and you can clear them continuously or separately. But if you choose separately it’s harder than choosing to clear them continuously. So I advise you, rather than thinking of clearing floors right and forth, you can just choose the option for continuously clearing."

We listened, and our eyes went wide, and we nodded. "That seems to be a good option."

She nodded and said, "But it’s also dangerous, so be careful. I confirm your clearing of the tower. You can clear all 10 floors and come to see me and decide to stay in the human world or leave for the tower."

"From what I know, I’m sure you two will leave for the tower, so I wish you good luck."

And she looked at me with a smile and said, "And kiddo, good luck on chasing this girl."

I showed her a thumbs-up and assured her, "Don’t worry. Before the 10th floor I’ll make sure to properly start the relationship."

She laughed and nodded. "Okay then. I have work to do. Look at this academy. Even at this age I have to work for that principal with my old bones."

I smiled and said, "Okay then. Good luck on your work as well."

Nyx now looked at us and sighed, then she too got up and waved goodbye to the old woman, and we both left.

We looked at the time and saw it’s almost time for Miss Selena to finish her class, so we stayed outside for her to come.

While we waited we talked about the conversation with that old lady, and Nyx asked me what I told her last time for her to get that close with me and tease her so much.

I just spread my hands and said, "What can I say? My natural charisma is too strong. I’m a well-liked individual in the world."

Then she asked about the nobles and others who picked fights with me. I replied to that as well.

"You know, when a person’s charisma is too overwhelming, there surely appear jealous bastards to cause trouble. Those nobles and others are jealous of my natural charisma."

She just sighed at my shamelessness. "You never cease to amaze me how shameless you are."

I nodded with a smile. "You know me. Shame is not something I was born with." I grinned.

Then Miss Selena came from her class and saw we were waiting for her, so I told her, "Miss Selena, good afternoon."

She raised an eyebrow and replied, "Good afternoon, Student Asher. May I know why you skipped my class when you are clearly in the academy?"

I grinned and said, "We went on a date."

She didn’t get angry. She got amused. "Oh, Student Asher, you have to make a better lie than that."

I looked at her, offended. "What do you mean by that?"
