I took out my bow once again, put an arrow in it, aimed at the flying demon, and shot an arrow at it.

That bastard avoided the arrow. Then I shot another and continued to fire at a continuous pace until he got hit by several of them. The demon realized that didn’t work, so he directly came toward me at high speed to attack me.

I grinned, took my sword, augmented it with aura, and waited for him to come closer. I used my trait and made my agility go up, used all the strength from my body, and attacked him head-on. The demon didn’t expect that.

He came crashing toward me and met with my blade and got sliced in two.

And then I went to kill the normal demon beasts after killing the commanding demon.

I used darkness to augment my sword this time. I can feel it’s more lethal than before.

My sword went through demon beasts with proficiency and killed them like killing ants.

I didn’t slow down. I went with the momentum and killed them.

And finally we killed them.

But when I looked at the village side, some of them had broken through the defenses and gone into the village.

I looked at Nyx and screamed, "Can you take care of them? I’m going to find and kill the demon beasts who entered the village!"

Nyx looked at me and the village, saw they had broken into the village, and nodded. "Don’t worry. I’ll take care of them. Go and kill those who entered the village."

I nodded and said, "Good luck."

Then I went to the village and heard her say, "Good luck as well."

I smiled and rushed toward the village and found the beasts who broke through and killed them one by one.

And I saw a demon go to a home, destroy the door, and go inside.

And I heard screams inside. My eyes darkened, and I went there immediately with myself fully augmented and stabbed the sword into the demon beast.

And I grabbed the beast, looked at the people inside, and saw the horrified look on them. I made a dark wall so they couldn’t see here, burned down the whole body of the beast into ash, canceled the dark wall, and went around the city and found the loose beasts one after another and killed them all.

And I looked around. All the demon beasts were dead, and I finally sighed a massive sigh.

The streets were a mess. Blood on the dirt, broken doors, people still hiding behind walls. Some of the knights were already moving in to check houses. I didn’t stay to talk. I just made sure nothing was still moving that shouldn’t be.

Then I went to find Nyx and saw her in the middle of a mass amount of corpses.

I looked at her and went to her side. "How are you? Need any help like a kiss?"

She glared at me and said, "What can I do from your kiss?"

I said proudly, "You can get energized by a kiss from a great person like me."

She just sighed and said, "You are really shameless."

And she looked at me for real and said with a serious voice, "Asher."

I looked at her eyes and saw a serious look in them.

So I dropped all the mischief and jokes and asked, "What is it?"

She said, "I’m going to ask you a serious question now. I know this is not the suitable place, but I have to confirm something."

I nodded. "Ask away. I’ll say anything you want."

She asked her question, but it’s something I never ever expected from her. "Are you serious about the fact that you like me, or is it another joke of yours?"

My eyes widened. I closed my eyes for a minute and said, "It’s true. I really like you. And I’m not going to say bullshit like I fell for your personality or your soul."

"I don’t know those things yet. But I like you. I know that when I saw you for the first time, you were the most beautiful girl I saw in my whole life."

I looked at her deeply and asked, "How about I tell you my life story?"

She looked at me with surprise at how serious I was, so she got a little curious too. She nodded and waited to listen.

So I began. "In that time it just felt like I got a second life."

"I was abandoned when I was young. You know that. I never had any goal in my life. The only thing I did was survive."

"And then even that was lost when the government said homeless people were going to get removed. So I went to the forest searching for a chance to awaken."

"In that time I knew that was the only choice I had, so I didn’t give up. I found a place and almost died and finally awakened."

"Only then I gained a little confidence about my life and began to desire more from life than just surviving."

"And as soon as I met you I thought about pursuing you, and slowly I began to develop feelings. So that’s the story."

"I’m not going to pretend I didn’t fall for your appearance at first. That’s how it started. The rest came after."

She listened to all of it and nodded.

Then she understood why I always try new things and always try to enjoy life no matter what, and train so hard to get powerful, and always talk about living a normal peaceful life.

She looked at me and smiled warmly and said, "I asked you because I too began to like you and enjoy spending time with you all the time. So if you really want to start a relationship, I’m okay with it."

I listened to her and nodded. "No. We don’t need to force it or rush it. So we can take it slowly. Just remember I like you, and I’m not embarrassed to tell you that."

She nodded.

For a moment neither of us said anything. The battlefield was still noisy behind us — people shouting, someone crying, steel being dragged across dirt — but between us it was quiet.

Then we went around the battlefield and gathered the monster cores.

I used Devour on a few more bodies while she collected the cores. The power still felt new in my limbs. Not overwhelming, just solid. Like the floor under my feet was a little more reliable than before.

We didn’t talk about that incident again while we worked. We just finished the job.

And then we decided to leave the floor.

I exited the tower.

She chuckled.

I just looked at her and said, "That’s true, but did you forget I use dual swords? And you can take the cloak."

She thought for a moment, nodded, and said, "That works."

I nodded, took all the items I wanted, and ate all 8 attribute fruits.
