The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend

Chapter 1057 - Subcosm Unit Summoning Ticket

  • Next Chapter

In the Imperial College’s exam monitoring room, Xu Hai stared at the bizarre scene unfolding on Han Wu’s channel with a deep frown.

“Contact that civilization’s Will immediately and demand that it release Han Wu!” he ordered.

“We’ve already tried,” Saliya answered with a hint of frustration. “The Will of that civilization gave no response. We suspect somebody has jammed the signal. We can’t control the equipment installed in that civilization remotely either.”

These reports had Xu Hai’s frown deepening. Someone was clearly sabotaging things behind the scenes, destroying the relevant facilities and blocking the signal transmission between the two civilizations.

“That leaves only one option: Send someone to deliver Imperial College’s decision and order the Will of that civilization to release Han Wu,” Saliya said. She’d already exhausted every method she could think of.

“I’ll handle this mission!” One lecturer volunteered.

This was a golden opportunity to earn favor with both the Wisdom God King and Han Wu. As long as they did a good job, the benefits would be enormous.

Several other lecturers silently cursed their luck. They’d been half a beat too slow and lost the chance to a colleague.

Xu Hai glanced at the volunteer. The man’s little scheme was obvious.

It would’ve been one thing if this were a trivial matter, but this involved Han Wu’s safety, and evidence pointed to someone pulling strings behind the scenes. An enemy capable of jamming inter-civilization signals and silently destroying Imperial College’s equipment was no ordinary foe.

Xu Hai worried that sending a single Major God lecturer would result in an interception along the way. Losing one Major God lecturer wasn’t a big deal, but missing the window to rescue Han Wu because of it would be a catastrophic loss.

“I’ll personally head to that civilization and bring Han Wu, as well as every student taking the final exam, back,” Xu Hai decided. “Keep an eye on the channels and notify me immediately if anything changes.”

“Understood, Your Majesty!” Saliya and the lecturers answered in unison.

The Wisdom God King calculated the distance between the Divine Civilization and that civilization. It would take at least two hours to get there with his Subcosm speed. He departed without delay. Every second saved was a second sooner that Han Wu would be safe.

On the Chaos Clan’s side, Di Bin had received word that Wisdom God King was personally heading to that civilization.

He knew Xu Hai and the Death God King were both Han Wu’s backers, and that the former was a relatively new God King. If Di Bin chose to act, he could easily kill Xu Hai.

After a few seconds of thought, though, Di Bin dismissed the idea.

Unlike Han Wu. Xu Hai was a God King. This meant the Divine Civilization’s Will paid attention to him. If a God King died under suspicious circumstances outside the civilization, the Will would have people investigate. If they found any connection to the Chaos Clan, there was no way the Wealth Faction would just sit still.

Zhao Zihong had publicly declared in front of numerous powerhouses that the Chaos Clan was forbidden from seeking revenge. Di Bin didn’t want to provoke the Wealth Faction unless absolutely necessary.

“Xu Hai needs at least two hours to reach that civilization. I just have to kill Han Wu within those two hours. Better yet, destroy the entire civilization and leave no evidence behind,” Di Bin muttered to himself.

He then sent his orders through the pre-arranged special channel to the Wandering Sorcerers busy summoning Elemental Spirits and Chaos Spirits. The Wandering Sorcerers each pulled a pill from their pockets and swallowed it. Their auras exploded with power, leaping from Microcosm rank straight to Subcosm rank.

This massive power boost came with severe consequences. Their remaining lifespans were cut to less than a single day. However, they had no choice if they wanted to complete the mission.

With their newfound power, the Wandering Sorcerers could call upon far more powerful summons. Subcosm Elemental Spirits appeared one after another and unleashed devastating attacks.

Meteors rained from the sky, ice spread for thousands of miles, and storms swept across the land. Even the air itself crackled with thunder and lightning. Mountains and rivers were devastated as countless Microcosm locusts were beaten half to death.

Han Wu sensed the situation rapidly deteriorating. The powerful enemies entering his territory were growing in number, and his outer units were taking hits left and right. Rather than allowing them to be picked off with no gain, Han Wu decisively activated Sacrifice to offer up every Microcosm locust stationed near the portals.

Their immense Life Energy flowed into the Sacrifice array and formed three options that were unique to the Will of this civilization’s rules.

[Option 1: 10 million Energy Points.]

[Option 2: Microcosm treasure, Ghost Slayer. When equipped on a unit, each attack will randomly summon a hundred ghosts to assist.]

[Option 3: Subcosm summoning ticket. Select and summon one Subcosm unit to assist in battle.]

Han Wu analyzed each option and immediately eliminated the first one.

Experience had proven that, with his luck, trying to draw powerful units through Energy Points was hopeless. The 10 million Energy Points play was to summon massive numbers of units, merge them, offer them through Sacrifice, and repeat.

It was a Matryoshka Doll strategy that could produce powerful units, if not for the fact that Han Wu only had one active Sacrifice per day. He didn’t have time for that approach.

The Microcosm treasure, Ghost Slayer, seemed decent, but the moment Han Wu saw the word “randomly” in the description, he crossed it off. Once again, considering his terrible luck in this civilization, he didn’t believe he’d randomly summon anything useful.

This left only option three, which Han Wu took without hesitation.

He had nine Subcosm units in total. Any one of them could dominate a battlefield. After considering the situation, though, Han Wu selected Dark Locust, as it had recently ascended to the Dark God King.

Dark Locust’s abilities were better suited to this civilization than any of his other Subcosm units.
