Chapter 513: Chapter 478: The Slap

“You know my situation, don’t you? Don’t worry.”

‘I know, I know, but I can’t help but worry whenever I hear the news.’

Fu Mingyu walked over to her side and fed the cats with her.

After they finished, Yun Jiao and Fu Mingyu took Little Sanhua back to the apartment, carrying her in their arms.

On her days off, Little Sanhua was almost always with Yun Jiao. The cat was very well-behaved, staying quiet when told.

One day, Yun Jiao saw Little Sanhua squatting by the door, looking at her with a pitiful expression, and her heart softened.

‘This little beauty, how can she be so good at acting cute?’

“Alright, come to school with me. But you can’t make a sound during class, okay?”

“Meow~”

Yun Jiao carried her toward the university. “When winter break starts, I’m going back to my hometown. I’ll introduce you to Cat Boss then.”

Cat Boss was already an old cat. Logically, he was nearing the end of a cat’s typical lifespan, and Yun Jiao was genuinely worried that he might pass away any day.

‘And the two dogs back home, too.’

After arriving at the university, Yun Jiao went to the classroom for her next lecture and found Peng Lele and the others, sitting down with them.

The four of them in the dorm got along quite well.

Yun Jiao had her backpack on. The zipper wasn’t fully closed, leaving a small opening.

She opened it right then, and a beautiful, fluffy little head immediately poked out.

“Holy crap!”

Hong Yan blurted it out and quickly covered her mouth, but her eyes were shining as she stared at the little cat.

Peng Lele and Xu Mei crowded over as well.

“Little Sanhua! And she’s a long-hair! So beautiful!”

The kitten was immaculate, with fluffy, soft fur. She was even wearing a little dress and a small hair clip.

She looked absolutely adorable.

Xu Mei and the other two were overwhelmed by the cuteness.

“Beautiful, right? She’s mine.”

Yun Jiao felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Little Sanhua climbed out of the backpack, jumped onto Yun Jiao’s lap, and gave her a fluffy nuzzle, letting out a few soft meows in a delicate, high-pitched voice.

Her meows were so quiet they could melt anyone’s heart.

“She’s so, so pretty.”

“Let me pet her.”

“Don’t you live in the dorms? Where do you keep the cat?”

Yun Jiao: “In an apartment off-campus. Keeping her in the dorm would be too much trouble.”

Hong Yan: “What trouble? I’d love it!”

The other two also said they would love it.

Peng Lele: “I can’t even imagine how blissful it would be to sleep at night hugging a little cutie like this!”

Yun Jiao: “Kittens need their litter box scooped, they run all over the place at night, and most importantly, they shed. She doesn’t shed much, though.”

She took out a small dried fish and gave it to Little Sanhua, who immediately began munching on it.

Just as Peng Lele and the others were about to say something, the professor walked in, and they immediately sat up straight.

The academic atmosphere at Qingbei was very strong.

Everyone was self-disciplined, paying close attention in class, and many would go to the library after their lectures.

Throughout the entire class, Hua Hua didn’t make a fuss at all. She either played with Yun Jiao’s hand, pawed at the backpack strap, or nibbled on a dried fish.

When class ended, she trotted happily out of the classroom, following right behind Yun Jiao.

There were other cats on campus, quite a few of them.

Many students were willing to feed them.

But such a small, beautiful cat following someone, especially when that someone was Yun Jiao—one of the well-known figures on campus—was particularly eye-catching.

Yun Jiao hurried to her next class with Hua Hua.

After confirming that Hua Hua was well-behaved and wouldn’t cause a disturbance in class, Yun Jiao started bringing her to school from time to time.

Eventually, the professors found out, but as long as she didn’t disrupt the class, they didn’t say anything.

Cats occasionally wandered into classrooms at their university anyway. As long as they didn’t disturb the lecture, the professors wouldn’t mind.

“Yun Jiao, Senior Brother Fu is here for you again.”

It was already snowing by now, and everyone was bundled up in thick clothes.

Yun Jiao was no exception. She hadn’t brought Hua Hua today. As soon as she reached the bottom of her dorm building, she saw Fu Mingyu standing at the entrance to the stairwell, holding two cups of milk tea and waiting for her.

Girls passing by couldn’t help but glance in his direction.

“Fu Mingyu.”

Yun Jiao walked over, and a cup of milk tea was pressed into her hand. It was her favorite flavor.

“Thanks. The break is starting soon. Are you planning to go to Bailong Village with us after it starts?”

The two of them walked out, sipping their milk tea.

Fu Mingyu nodded. “Yeah. A research project I’m on is about to end, so I’ll be able to get a good long rest afterward.”

“That’s good, then.”

As the two were walking in silence, they suddenly saw someone storming towards them aggressively.

“Fu Mingyu, what’s the meaning of you spreading rumors about my mom at school!”

The newcomer was none other than Fu Mingyu’s younger brother, Fu Mingqi.

Yun Jiao’s mouth twitched. “This happened so long ago. Is he only just finding out now?”

Fu Mingyu: “He’s an idiot.”

His dad and stepmom had found out long ago and had furiously questioned him about it.

Fu Mingyu hadn’t wasted words on them; he had simply told his grandfather.

That very evening, Grandpa Fu had called and chewed the couple out completely.

When faced with Mr. Fu, the two of them were quite cowardly.

Fu Mingqi’s grades were poor, so naturally, he hadn’t gotten into a good university. His father had paid to get him into a college just for the prestige of a degree.

The guy liked to party and hang out, so he probably hadn’t been home in a long time and had only just heard the news.

Fu Mingqi pointed an angry finger at Fu Mingyu. “Don’t think you can walk all over us just because Grandpa protects you and takes your side! Who do you think you are? You bastard with no mother to raise you! Dad doesn’t like you either, so what’s there to be proud of? The Fu Family will be mine in the future! Sooner or later, you’ll be…”

Yun Jiao slapped him across the face, sending him sprawling onto the snow. He lay there for a long moment, unable to get up.

“If you don’t know how to talk, then shut your mouth! Did you forget to brush? It stinks! If you’re going to be ugly and stupid, at least learn from the pigs. Which pigsty collapsed and let you out?”

When Yun Jiao started cursing someone out, her words could be quite vicious.

Fu Mingyu looked at the girl who was shorter than him but now stood in front of him, and his heart pounded in his chest.

‘How could anyone not fall for someone like this?’

“You…”

Fu Mingqi was stunned from the slap. After a good while, he managed to sit up, clutching his face and pointing at Yun Jiao as he cursed.

“You dare hit me? Do you know who I am? Believe it or not, I can make it so you can’t study at this university anymore!”

Yun Jiao crossed her arms and said sarcastically, “Oh, so impressive. I didn’t realize your family owns this university. In that case, why didn’t you come to Qingbei? You don’t like it here?”

The onlookers who had gathered to watch the drama couldn’t help but laugh when they heard this.

‘If you could get into Qingbei, who would want to go to any other university?’

“You, you…”

Fu Mingyu walked to Yun Jiao’s side and looked down at Fu Mingqi condescendingly.

“If you don’t want another beating, you’d better leave.”

He didn’t want to waste any more time on this person.

Fu Mingqi’s expression twisted with rage. He scrambled to his feet and threw a punch at him.

Yun Jiao effortlessly sent him flying with a light kick.

Fu Mingqi curled up into a ball on the ground in pain.

About ten minutes later, they were all summoned to the principal’s office.

Although Yun Jiao had thrown the first punch, Fu Mingqi had started it with his insults. The phrase “bastard with no mother to raise you” was incredibly harsh and offensive to anyone, not to mention the fact that Fu Mingyu’s mother had passed away long ago.

After the principal understood what had happened, he had to weigh his options: on one side was an arrogant student from another university who had come to their campus to cause trouble; on the other were two of his own excellent students.

Was there even a choice to be made about who to favor?

As for the Fu Family, he wasn’t afraid of them.

If Mr. Fu himself showed up, he might show some deference, but Fu Anyang?

Heh…

Besides, even if Mr. Fu did come, it wasn’t certain whose side he would take.
