Chapter 514: Chapter 479: You Are the Outsiders

Mr. Fu didn’t have time to come, mainly because he wasn’t in the Capital.

But Fu Mingyu’s father and stepmother showed up.

The moment they arrived, Fu Mingyu’s father started berating him without a second thought.

“Mingqi is your younger brother. He might be immature, but aren’t you? Can’t you just let him have his way? And why did he come looking for trouble with you? It’s all because of the fuss you made before, criticizing your own father and mother for an outsider. What kind of son are you?”

Yun Jiao rolled her eyes dramatically. ‘Just say my name if you’re going to call me an outsider.’

Fu Mingyu just looked at them coldly. “You’re the outsiders.”

Fu Anyang slammed his hand on the table, the loud BANG clearly meant to intimidate someone.

“How dare you speak to me like that? No matter what, I’m still your father!”

Fu Mingyu: “The one who gave birth to me was my mother.”

“I am your father!”

Faced with his father’s furious shouts, the young man remained frighteningly calm.

“You only contributed a sperm. Other than that, you never fulfilled any of a father’s responsibilities. I was raised by Grandpa. I never ate your family’s food, nor did I spend your money. So, aside from being my biological father, you have no right whatsoever to control or lecture me.”

Fu Anyang was about to die from rage after hearing that. He instinctively raised his hand to strike him.

“I’m your father no matter what! Don’t tell me I can’t even teach my own son a lesson!”

The stepmother, who was standing to the side, appeared to be placating him, but was actually fanning the flames.

“Oh, don’t be angry. Mingyu is still young, just a bit stubborn. It’s our fault, really. We haven’t cared much for him over the years, so it’s only natural that he holds a grudge.”

Fu Mingqi gloated from the side.

“Dad, you have to teach him a good lesson. He’s acting like he has no respect for you at all.”

The teachers were genuinely trying to break up the fight, but Fu Anyang was too concerned with his pride. Having been so bluntly disrespected by Fu Mingyu, and egged on by his wife and second son, what started as an empty threat was now a real attempt to hit Fu Mingyu.

“Nobody stop me! I have to teach this unfilial son a lesson today! He’s trying to kill me with anger!”

His palm descended, but it didn’t land on Fu Mingyu. Instead, it struck a ruler.

“AHH!!!”

The blood-curdling scream came from Fu Anyang.

Yun Jiao put the ruler away as everyone turned to look at her.

She was currently on the phone.

Using a newly released PHS phone she had just bought.

The device was easy to carry, and the call volume was loud.

“You…”

Fu Anyang, his face ashen, clutched his hand and was about to point and curse at Yun Jiao when a voice came from her PHS phone.

“Hello? Is that Little Yun Jiao? Why are you calling Grandpa Fu? Did something happen to Mingyu?”

The moment that voice was heard, the three members of the Fu Family, who had been so arrogant just a moment ago, froze solid.

The corners of Yun Jiao’s mouth curved up as she began to tattle in an aggrieved voice.

“Grandpa Fu, Fu Mingyu is being bullied so badly!”

“Fu Mingqi came to the university to beat up your eldest grandson. I helped stop him, but now Uncle Fu and that woman he married have come to back their son up.

You have no idea how awful Fu Mingqi was. He was cursing at Fu Mingyu… I don’t even want to repeat it. Anyway, you should come back quickly, or else they’re going to try and force Fu Mingyu into an arranged marriage.”

Fu Anyang: “You little girl, how can you spout such nonsense!”

“Fu Anyang!”

Mr. Fu’s furious voice erupted from the PHS phone.

Yun Jiao very thoughtfully held the phone a little closer to them so they could more clearly hear the old man’s “kind” regards.

“Didn’t I tell you not to bother Mingyu? Did my words just go in one ear and out the other? Mingyu grew up with me, this old man.

You want to arrange his marriage? Who the hell do you think you are! And you, Fu Mingqi, you little bastard! Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because your parents have your back. Fu Mingyu has a grandpa to protect him, too…”

The old man was quite eloquent, giving the trio a vicious tongue-lashing until they were cowering like quails, their eyes glaring at Fu Mingyu and Yun Jiao with pure resentment.

His stepmother, Ma Hongmei, said resentfully,

“Dad, you’re being too biased. They were clearly the ones who hit Mingqi first.”

Mr. Fu: “Then you deserved it! Mingyu is studying peacefully at Qingbei. If you hadn’t gone to bother him, everything would be fine. I refuse to believe Mingyu would ever seek you out.

What, now that you see he’s becoming more and more successful, you want a piece of it? Bah! With your attitude toward Mingyu and all the rotten things you’ve done to him, you expect him to treat you well? You’ve got some nerve.

Don’t you dare use your status as parents and elders to make demands of him. If he’s going to be filial to anyone, it should be to me, this old man…”

Finally, the old man grew tired of yelling.

“Don’t bully Mingyu just because he doesn’t tattle. So what if he doesn’t? Jiaojiao does! Jiaojiao, you remember this: if they ever do anything to Mingyu again, you call Grandpa Fu.”

Yun Jiao’s voice was cheerful. “Okay, I got it, Grandpa Fu.”

Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought she was Grandpa Fu’s real granddaughter.

Fu Anyang was also jealous and indignant.

“Dad, she’s just an outsider! Mingyu is only fighting with us because of her. How could you… How could you side with an outsider over your own family?”

Mr. Fu: “Bah! An outsider? If the Yun family hadn’t looked after Mingyu during the holidays, he really would have been a lonely orphan! Having a father like you is worse than having no father. Having a family like yours is worse than having no family at all.

Outsiders? You’re the outsiders in his eyes! With your crappy attitude toward Mingyu, you really expect him to treat you like his own parents? Dream on!”

After the call ended, Yun Jiao took Fu Mingyu’s hand.

“Let’s go. We’ve wasted enough time here. Let’s go back and study. After all, we’re geniuses. We don’t have time to argue with idiots.”

“You… you child, how could you…”

Yun Jiao held her head high and marched right out of the office, pulling Fu Mingyu along with her.

Fu Anyang pointed at them, his whole body trembling with rage.

He spun around. “Principal, is this what your school teaches? Students with no manners who don’t respect their elders?!”

The principal mentally rolled his eyes.

“Yes, yes, of course. The university will be sure to discipline them.”

He answered perfunctorily, just wanting to get these three idiots out of his office.

‘Honestly,’ he thought, ‘Old Man Fu is such a sharp guy. How did he end up raising an idiot who can’t tell a fish eye from a pearl?’

Fu Mingyu let himself be led obediently out by Yun Jiao the entire time.

A wave of warmth spread through his heart.

‘This feeling of being protected… it’s really addictive.’

Yun Jiao was still muttering angrily, “How can they be like that? What kind of father acts like that? He really can’t tell good from bad, choosing an idiot like that over an outstanding son like you.

He just started yelling at you without even getting the story straight. It’s a good thing you grew up with Grandpa Fu. Otherwise, what kind of life would you have had in that family?”

After all that, in Yun Jiao’s mind, Fu Mingyu was now a poor, pitiful thing.

Even if this poor, pitiful thing was quite a bit taller than her.
