Chapter 512: Chapter 477

“Fu Mingyu, how can you do this? Our families are about to arrange our engagement. I’m your fiancée.”

Fu Mingyu’s face was cold. “What does that have to do with me? Fu Anyang was the one who arranged it. Go find him or his son, Fu Mingqi. And stop going around school telling everyone you’re my fiancée.”

Sun Ni was furious and humiliated. Being put down in front of so many people was something the ever-arrogant young miss of the Sun Family simply couldn’t stand.

“Fu Mingyu, are you really going to humiliate me for someone like her?”

Yun Jiao crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. “You say that like you and Fu Mingyu are so close. He spends his vacations at my place and celebrates the New Year with my family. We’re practically siblings, just with different parents. With a bond like ours, why would he side with a fake fiancée like you over me? Are you an idiot?”

“Besides, since you’re chasing Fu Mingyu, you obviously know the Fu Family, right? So how could you not know that he’s on bad terms with everyone in the Fu Family except his grandfather? What’s wrong with your brain? In a situation like this, you still think you can use his father and stepmother to pressure him?”

Sun Ni glared fiercely at Yun Jiao. “What do you know? They’re still his father and stepmother. They’re just having a disagreement right now. In the future…”

“A disagreement? You call selling him to human traffickers when he was a child a ‘disagreement’? Those two never even raised him. Oh, so now that Fu Mingyu is successful, they want to swoop in and reap the rewards? How shameless.”

Everyone: !!!

Human traffickers?!

Sun Ni stammered, “You’re lying! What human traffickers? You’re just spreading rumors.”

Yun Jiao let out a dry laugh. “I don’t know about anything else, but I know for a fact that he was taken by human traffickers as a child. I’m the one who saved him, you know.”

“That doesn’t prove it was her…”

Fu Mingyu said, “It was her.”

“I don’t have amnesia. As for why it didn’t blow up, it was only because my so-called ‘good’ father swept it under the rug.”

‘He had no intention of covering for those two.’

‘Besides, if this blows up, it might stop those two from coming to find me again, trying to control my life under the guise of doing what’s best for me.’

Fu Mingyu couldn’t figure it out. He’d made his feelings so obvious. Why did that family still think he was good-tempered? That he would let them control him obediently?

The students standing around widened their eyes in disbelief.

‘Oh my god, this is insane.’

“Stepmothers are rarely any good.”

“Back in my village, a stepmother sold her husband’s kid from his first wife, too. But our village is poor, and that family was struggling. I can’t believe people sell children in the big city, too.”

“That’s just pure evil. What’s even more insane is that his dad helped cover it up.”

“Fu Mingyu is so exceptional. I always assumed he came from a great family. I never thought he had such a difficult childhood.”

“Seriously. With a history like that, I’d hate them too if I were him. And they still want to control his marriage.”

“I bet Fu Mingyu’s stepmother introduced him to this Sun Ni.”

Sun Ni didn’t have a good reputation at school. She had a bad temper, looked down on most of the students, and wasn’t popular at all. Even after Fu Mingyu had repeatedly and clearly rejected her advances and stated he didn’t like her, she continued to pester him relentlessly. She’d even spout nonsense like “a man’s heart is easily won by a persistent woman,” insisting that if she kept at it, she would move him one day.

But for Fu Mingyu, the target of this pursuit, it was nothing but endless trouble, and he found it incredibly annoying.

Sun Ni started crying. “I’ve been chasing you for so long. Don’t you really like me even a little bit? I’ve already cast aside my pride…”

Fu Mingyu watched her with cold eyes, his expression filled with nothing but irritation.

“No. If there were an affection meter, my score for you would be -999.”

The people around them gasped. Just how much must he despise her?

“You… You’ll regret this! It’s an honor to be pursued by someone as exceptional as me…”

Fu Mingyu cut her off. “It’s not an honor. It’s an annoyance.”

“I don’t care how exceptional you are. That’s your business. Just stop bothering me.”

At this, Sun Ni’s composure finally shattered. She burst into angry tears and ran off.

‘I hope that woman never shows her face in front of me again,’ Fu Mingyu thought.

Yun Jiao clapped him on the shoulder. “Come on, want to go grab a bite?”

Fu Mingyu nodded. “Let’s go.”

The whole fiasco eventually spread, and soon, many people at school were talking about it.

Sun Ni had been telling everyone that she and Fu Mingyu were getting engaged, and some people at school had actually believed her.

Now… no one believed it at all.

The story about Fu Mingyu’s father and stepmother also started to circulate.

Neither Yun Jiao nor Fu Mingyu cared. They went out to eat and then went to see Little Sanhua.

However, what Yun Jiao hadn’t expected was that Sun Ni was audacious enough to hire some thugs to corner her outside the school.

“So you’re Yun Jiao? Huh, so some people really do have blue hair. I thought that rich girl was lying to us.”

“Brother Hu, do we really have to fight her? She’s… I can’t bring myself to lay a hand on her.”

“What choice do we have? We already took the money.”

The man called Brother Hu said to Yun Jiao, “Don’t blame us, little lady. We’re just doing a job for cash. How about this? You be my girlfriend. I’m a righteous guy, and I’ve got a lot of brothers under my command. If you become my girl, I’ll definitely have your back.”

His lackey on the side: …

‘So this is what they mean by a toad lusting after a swan’s flesh.’

“Brother Hu, this isn’t a good look. The girl goes to Qingbei, she’s a top student, and she’s gorgeous. You standing next to her… that’s even more ridiculous than that fairy tale I read, Beauty and the Beast. At least the Beast was a prince in disguise.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he was met with retaliation from Brother Hu, who kicked him.

“Who told you to talk? Who told you to run your mouth? Nobody’s going to think you’re mute if you just shut up! How am I not worthy? I, Brother Hu, am a handsome, respectable man, you know?”

The lackey clutched his head, but he still had more to say.

“B-Brother Hu… You’re, uh… you’re just a person.”

“Holy shit! You just had to open your big mouth, didn’t you! You just had to run that mouth of yours!”

Yun Jiao: …

‘So, are you guys here to be the comic relief?’

“Sun Ni sent you, didn’t she?”

Brother Hu straightened his clothes. “I don’t know any ‘rich girl,’ but you know who you’ve pissed off. She paid well.”

Yun Jiao asked out of curiosity, “How much?”

“A thousand.”

‘That’s actually a lot.’

Yun Jiao said, “In that case, you got a bad deal. That’s not even enough to cover your medical bills.”

Brother Hu and his crew: ???

The next second, Yun Jiao held out her hand. “Let me borrow that iron rod of yours.”

The lackey holding the iron rod was so mesmerized by Yun Jiao’s face that he dazedly handed it over.

Yun Jiao smiled at them. “Watch closely.”

Then, she grabbed the rod by its ends with both hands and bent it.

The iron rod bent.

The group of thugs stared, their eyes wide in disbelief.

Yun Jiao tossed the bent rod to the ground.

“So, do you still want to fight? If you do, let’s get it over with. The sooner we start, the sooner you can get to the hospital.”

Brother Hu swallowed hard and turned to ask the lackey who’d been holding the rod.

“That rod… was it hollow or solid?”

The lackey’s voice trembled. “H-hollow… but the walls were this thick.”

It was almost as thick as a finger bone. There was no way a few grown men like them could have bent it.

“Sis!”

Brother Hu immediately dropped to his knees.

“A misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding!”

When you can’t win, isn’t everything a misunderstanding?

The lackeys all dropped to their knees in unison.

Yun Jiao clicked her tongue. “Use your eyes next time. Don’t just take any job that comes your way.”

With that said, she had no more time to waste on them and left.

As soon as she was gone, the lackey who had been kicked earlier hurried over to pick up the bent rod.

“B-Brother Hu… it’s really bent… This is…”

The few of them tried to bend the iron rod back together.

But even using all their strength, they couldn’t bend it back in the slightest.

The mouthy lackey said, “Brother Hu, you really don’t stand a chance. She’s not just smart, her power level is off the charts.”

“Just shut the hell up!”

Brother Hu had completely lost any such ideas.

No matter how beautiful she was, he couldn’t handle her.

He couldn’t even imagine being with her. If they got into an argument by accident, he shuddered to think how many teeth one slap from her would knock out.

Yun Jiao went to Fu Mingyu’s apartment. The moment she opened the door, she saw the pretty Little Sanhua sitting by the entrance with a cute little flower hairpin clipped to its forehead.

The little furball looked up at Yun Jiao with its big, watery eyes and let out a tiny, squeaky meow.

It was the kind of cute, high-pitched voice that was irresistible to anyone who loved fluffy things.

Yun Jiao scooped the kitten up.

“Hua Hua, it’s time for your milk. We’re going to go find your mommy today.”

The weather in the Capital was already starting to get cold.

Before heading out, Yun Jiao put a little dress on Hua Hua, attached a leash, and carried the kitten as she left.

Carrying cat food and some ham sausages, she arrived at the small alley where the mother calico had given birth to her litter.

As soon as they got there, Little Sanhua started meowing.

Soon, a mother calico emerged with three other kittens.

Of the three kittens, one was a calico, one was black-and-white, and one was pure white.

Apart from Little Sanhua, who Yun Jiao was holding, and the white one, which were both long-haired, the other two were short-haired.

The white one was also very beautiful.

‘Of course, that’s from a human’s perspective,’ she thought.

‘As far as I know, cats generally don’t find white fur very attractive.’

Yun Jiao took out a paper bowl, poured in the cat food, and broke the ham sausage into small pieces for them.

There was also an egg yolk.

The mother calico seemed to particularly enjoy the egg yolk.

Probably because she had been eating well lately, the mother cat was visibly plumper than before. With a plentiful supply of milk, her three kittens were also growing well.

Hua Hua leaped out of Yun Jiao’s arms and snuggled against her mother and siblings.

Dressed in her little outfit, she looked just like a tiny princess.

Yun Jiao watched from the side. The mother cat and her kittens had all been dewormed and vaccinated, so she wasn’t worried about Hua Hua catching fleas or anything.

“Jiaojiao.”

Fu Mingyu’s voice called out from the entrance to the alley.

He was slightly out of breath, as if he had been running.

“What’s the rush?”

Fu Mingyu’s expression was grim. “I heard some thugs cornered you outside of school. I figured it had to be Sun Ni.”

Yun Jiao was good-natured and hadn’t made any enemies at school, with the sole exception of Sun Ni.

And considering who could afford to hire that many thugs to cause trouble for Yun Jiao, Fu Mingyu was basically certain it was her without even investigating.
