Chapter 496: Chapter 465: Part 2

Three dogs faced off against each other.

Their ears were all pricked up high.

They were brothers from the same litter, but they surely wouldn’t recognize each other from their puppyhood memories.

All three could be considered old dogs by now.

Tang Yuan had even given birth to two litters of puppies. But each litter was small; the first had only two pups. They were bigger than puppies from larger litters—plump and incredibly cute.

They were taken by their grandmother’s family just a month after they were born.

The persimmon grove needed dogs to guard it, and they felt even two weren’t enough.

The second litter had three puppies, and villagers had already rushed to claim them before they were even a month old.

Still, one was sent to her grandmother’s house, while the other two remained in the village.

The big black dog, Bubai, seemed much calmer. After a brief standoff with the other two, it sat down, showing no signs of aggression.

Baozi and Tang Yuan cautiously approached and sniffed Bubai.

Then, they gradually started to interact.

Yun Jiao held the now-elderly tabby, Cat Boss.

Cat Boss no longer went out to hunt prey.

His favorite thing to do was to lie on Yun Jiao’s lap while she sat under a tree, basking in the sun.

“They won’t fight, will they?”

“They won’t,” Fu Mingyu said. “Bubai knows what to do.”

Indeed, Bubai guided the other two dogs to approach it.

Perhaps because they were related by blood, the three dogs were soon nuzzling up against each other, their tails wagging joyfully.

The Yun family relaxed as well.

Holding Cat Boss, Yun Jiao and her brothers showed Fu Mingyu around the village, pointing out every point of interest.

The three dogs followed behind them, getting along harmoniously.

“This place has developed so well.”

It was better than Fu Mingyu had expected.

He had a good memory and still recalled what Bailong Village looked like in his childhood.

Now, almost every house in Bailong Village was a blue-brick and tile-roofed building.

He had seen the dinosaur fossils in photos, but only by standing before them in person could he feel the awe these ancient creatures inspired.

Over the next few days, Yun Jiao also took Fu Mingyu to the island to have fun.

They rode horses and played with the Clouded Leopards that would occasionally show up at the house to freeload on food and lodging.

The few young Clouded Leopards had grown quite a bit now. They were still fluffy and would let Yun Jiao hold them, which was incredibly cute.

But they only let Yun Jiao hold them.

If anyone else came near, they would hiss and bare their teeth, looking fierce.

Yun Jiao shoved a chubby albino sea otter into Fu Mingyu’s arms.

“Since they won’t let you hold them, you can hold this one. Snowball is very well-behaved.”

Yun Xiaowu and the others were currently chasing the Clouded Leopards.

Under the noble pretext of training the young Clouded Leopards’ speed.

Fu Mingyu and the albino sea otter stared at each other.

This little sea otter, which had been rail-thin when Yun Jiao first found it, was now plump and chubby.

You could see with your own eyes how well-fed it was.

In the sea lake at the center of the island, two large sea turtles swam leisurely.

The hawksbill sea turtle had grown quite large, and the patterns on its shell were dazzling.

There were few people on the island, but it was a comfortable place to live.

Especially in the summer, swimming here was the most pleasant experience.

Of course, one had to be careful of the pythons that occasionally appeared, as well as the somewhat fierce Clouded Leopards.

They stayed on the island for a few days, catching their own ingredients. Yun Xiao Liu was in charge of cooking, while the others helped out.

“Hey? Jiaojiao, is that a sea eagle up in the sky?”

Yun Jiao looked up, and indeed it was.

And there were two of them.

One of the sea eagles swooped down, its talons snatching the sea fish Yun Jiao was holding.

Yun Jiao was left speechless.

This was such a familiar scene.

‘Heh heh… we meet again.’

‘This damn fate.’

From that single move, Yun Jiao knew exactly who this big fellow was.

“Is that the same sea eagle from before?”

Yun Jiao nodded.

The sea eagle flew onto a chair, gripped the top rail of the backrest with its talons, and squawked at Yun Jiao twice.

“What’s it trying to say?”

Yun Jiao tentatively reached out to pet the sea eagle. It didn’t shy away and even nuzzled her hand.

“I haven’t seen you in years,” Yun Jiao said. “I thought you were gone.”

Survival in the animal kingdom is brutal; Yun Jiao had genuinely thought something had happened to this sea eagle.

“So, does this mean… you’ve come here to settle down?”

The sea eagle cooed, though it sounded more like it was grumbling and complaining.

Yun Jiao’s ability now allowed her to understand a little bit of what other animals were saying.

Then, she got some juicy gossip from the sea eagle and couldn’t help but laugh.

“What is it? What is it? What did it say?”

Fu Mingyu was curious too.

As for the fact that Yun Jiao could understand animals, he was completely unfazed.

Ever since they first met as children, his impression of Yun Jiao had been that she was capable of anything.

Like a celestial being from a legend.

Yun Jiao explained, “This sea eagle and his wife laid a clutch of eggs six years ago. Their two children have long since grown up, but unfortunately, they’re two freeloading eagles. The parents couldn’t scold them or chase them away; they shamelessly stayed in their territory. Whenever they couldn’t catch any prey, they’d mooch off their parents. This sea eagle couldn’t take it anymore, so he and his wife left, leaving their original territory to their two kids.”

“Pfft…”

Yun Xiaowu and the others couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“Hahaha… So animals have freeloaders too!”

It was the first time Fu Mingyu had heard of such a thing, and he found it fascinating.

Yun Jiao beckoned to the sea eagles. “Come on, I’ll take you to pick out a spot.”

In the end, they chose a large tree near Yun Jiao’s villa.

Watching them spend a few days half-heartedly using branches to build a very shoddy nest, Yun Jiao was utterly exasperated.

In the end, it was Yun Chenbei who built a small house, spacious enough for the two sea eagles to move around in comfortably. Yun Jiao then carried the little house and tied it to the tree.

The two sea eagles instantly abandoned the dangerously dilapidated nest they had built and moved into their new home.

They were beyond satisfied, and they even knew to thank Yun Jiao.

Yun Jiao stood with her hands on her hips. “Why do I feel like there are more and more animals on my island?”

“You’re right!” her brothers exclaimed.

But having more animals was a good thing; it made the place livelier.

And there was no need for scheming or backstabbing. People who enjoyed the company of animals loved this kind of life.

Yun Jiao was clearly one of them.

Fu Mingyu was too. Compared to the overly enthusiastic villagers, he preferred the quieter island and also enjoyed being with animals.
