The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 387 182: Queen's Move (Part 2)
Eleanor said politely, "Please speak, Mr. Night Watcher."
The Night Watcher glanced at the sky outside the window and murmured, "In this day and age, is it really still possible to become a Grand Mage on your own?"
Eleanor secretly glanced at Sean.
Seeing Sean nod, she gave a firm reply: "Yes."
It might not be possible in the Farm World, but it definitely is in the "New World."
"Alright, there's a lot you wouldn't understand even if I told you," Sean said. "When you have the time, go take a look at the fourth floor of the Void Technique Space Sanctuary Library, and you'll know."
"Okay."
The Night Watcher turned to leave.
But he stopped at the door.
Sean feigned impatience and asked irritably, "Is there something else, old sir?"
The Night Watcher turned his head slightly, revealing his cold profile, and said flatly, "For what happened today... thanks."
Sean quickly raised a hand. "Don't. I don't deserve your thanks. I'm just a little Tier Three punk."
The Night Watcher: "Hmph."
Sean cursed, "Damn tsundere."
BANG!
The heavy slam of the door was his only response.
Elise was delighted. "Master, you're so tolerant of him."
Sean's gaze seemed to pass through the door, seeing the Night Watcher's slightly stooped back. He sighed softly. "Can't be helped. Who told him to be one of my people?"
Elise seized the opportunity. "I'm your person too, Master. So can you..."
"No, you can't." Sean didn't even listen, rejecting her outright.
He ignored Elise's aggrieved expression and said to Eleanor in a serious tone, "There's one more thing I need you to do."
Eleanor's expression also turned solemn. "Please give your orders, Master."
"On your way to Krim State with them this time, find a chance to return to the 'New World'," Sean said. "We need a backup plan."
"To find Her Highness the Saintess?" Eleanor asked.
"Mhm," Sean nodded. "The Kovloki Family and the Wolf Family. Just tell her those two names."
No need to say anything else.
After several hundred years as an old married couple, Sean was confident Olivia would understand what he meant.
Eleanor: "Okay."
Elise, however, was confused. "Master, you don't plan to go back yourself?"
'Her Highness the Saintess is so beautiful, and her figure is amazing,' she thought. 'If I were Master, I'd definitely be thinking about her every day.'
Sean got angry just talking about it. "You think I don't want to go?"
Leaving Olivia aside, he was also counting on transporting resources from the "New World" to the Farm World. He had already figured out the first step, but he couldn't go.
Back when he was surrounded by the Florist Family at World's End, Sean had thought about going to the "New World" to get reinforcements. According to the theory in the >, as long as one successfully performed a dual Cultivation session, the Meditation scene would be locked in. Afterwards, even meditating alone would lead to the "New World." So, Sean had tried it himself.
He wouldn't have known if he hadn't tried, but once he did, he discovered that Olivia had actually "beaten" him into a "cooldown period."
Back then, Olivia had pushed him off a cliff, which was essentially killing his 'New World' self. This caused some trauma to his soul. While it didn't affect his life in the Farm World, it prevented him from returning to the "New World" via the > for a short period. The longer one stays in the "New World," the longer the soul's recovery period after death.
By a conservative estimate, he still needed to wait another half a month before he could go back.
"Oh, so that's how it is..." Elise was starting to understand.
Sean was still complaining viciously, "That damn woman, she's so ruthless even to her own man! She better not give me the chance, or I'll spank her ass so hard!"
'Spank Her Highness the Saintess's ass?'
Eleanor looked up at the sky, pretending she hadn't heard.
Elise, on the other hand, twisted the knife. "But Master, Her Highness the Saintess is Tier Ten."
The implication being: You can't beat her.
Sean sneered. "Heh, so what?"
Elise's face flushed slightly. "So... why don't you spank my ass instead, Master? I'm one of Her Highness the Saintess's people, so it's perfectly reasonable for me to take the punishment on her behalf."
Sean: "..."
Eleanor: "..."
'Seriously, why is this damn girl trying to get her hands on Master all day long?'
'Why didn't I think of that?'
"Forget it." Sean waved his hand, mentally exhausted. "I'm a bit tired today. Let's put this to bed for now."
Elise's face turned even redder. "If Master wants to put me to bed... that's not impossible."
"But it's my first time, so please be gentle, Master..."
Sean: "?"
'What is all this nonsense?'
'I said put *this* to bed, not *her*!'
This annoying little succubus.
Sean ignored Elise and pushed the door open to leave.
Just then, Konina and Genduo finished talking with the female receptionist about the whole affair and came out of the storeroom.
The receptionist looked at Sean with a complicated expression. "I'm sorry. I didn't think our White Bear was this kind of union..."
Her voice was laced with a hint of shame.
From the very beginning, she had been wary of Sean and his group, because someone who could use Magic wasn't necessarily a Wizard—they could also be a Witch Hunter.
She had suspected Sean was a spy sent by the Kovloki Family to gather intelligence.
But who would have known that their White Bear Union were the real spies—that all of them were spies. She didn't even know how she had believed Lemondaff back then, believed that everyone was a good person...
"No need to apologize. It's not your fault." Sean waved his hand, naturally not holding anything against an innocent, unofficial member. He looked at Genduo and Konina and asked, "The White Bear Organization is gone. What are your plans now?"
The two of them fell silent.
"How about this." Seeing them hesitate, Sean said forthrightly, "I'll give you two choices."
"One, after we've dealt with the Kovloki Family, you can come back with us to Siracle State."
"The Florist Family is a thing of the past. When you go back, you can live like normal people, or you can join the Dawn Council and do what Wizards ought to do."
"But getting into the Dawn Council requires an assessment. I can't help you with that; you'll have to earn it yourselves."
"The other choice is to stay in Sonaros State."
He said bluntly, "The Kovloki Family will soon disappear from this world, just like the Florist Family. Sonaros State will become a Land of No Master. You can stay here and work for me."
Genduo's and Konina's Tiers were still too low for them to be decision-makers for now. He would have to find a few other trustworthy Wizards. But he considered Genduo and Konina friends and trusted them, so it would be no problem for them to act as "Spokespersons."
Not everyone would have to be convinced by them. It would be enough as long as the real decision-makers knew that Genduo and Konina represented him.
Genduo and Konina looked at each other, seeing the conflict in each other's eyes.
Go back or stay...
It was a really difficult choice.
If they stayed, no one knew what the future would hold. Once the Kovloki Family fell, Sonaros State would likely fall into a turbulent state of fighting over territory for a long time. It might not be explicitly dangerous, but it would be far from safe.
But if they went back... what then?
They no longer had a home in Siracle State.
Sean smiled. "No rush. Take your time to think about it. Just give me an answer before I leave."
Konina nodded. "Okay."
Sean then turned to Sopea, who was sitting to the side with her eyes closed, recuperating. "How are your injuries?"
Sopea opened her eyes. "Almost healed."
Then she said to Lante, "Thank you, Mr. Lante."
The Magic Potion made by the Witch was very effective.
Lante smiled. "You're welcome."
And he elegantly added, "I've put the money on your tab. You can settle it when you get back."
Sopea: "..."
"Since everyone's more or less rested up, let's get going," Sean said with a smile. "Miss Bofunova, please lead the way."
Bofunova: "Huh?"
Lead the way to where?
"You didn't tell me where you were going!"
"Does it even need to be said?"
Sean tilted his head. "To visit your family as guests, of course."
