The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 386 182: Backup Plan (Part 2)
Wiping out a Witch Hunter Family is no easy task.
Their sheer size and government connections guaranteed that even if their strongest fighters were away, an ordinary Wizard Organization was no match for them.
To be honest, the Night Watcher was very tempted by Sean's idea. However, the Wolf Family was not so easily dealt with. A surprise attack required meticulous planning and preparation beforehand; you couldn't just strike whenever you felt like it. Otherwise, they would be the ones caught off guard, not the enemy.
Ever since being besieged by several families a few years ago, the Long Night Union had been severely weakened. The current economic situation wasn't helping, and they still hadn't fully recovered. It wasn't that they couldn't win a fight. After all, the Wolf Family had also suffered heavy losses in that war, to the point where they had significantly reduced the frequency of their Witch Hunting Operations. The Wolf Family understood that if another conflict broke out, no one would benefit.
Thus, the Long Night Union and the Wolf Family were currently in a sort of "delicate truce," both conserving their strength and sharing a tacit understanding to avoid provoking each other.
But that didn't mean they'd let the other side walk all over them.
Once a true war began, blood would inevitably flow like rivers.
This was the main reason for the Night Watcher's hesitation.
The Wolf Family outnumbered the Long Night Union tens of times over. The Wolf Family could afford to lose; they could not.
"Don't worry." Sean seemed to have read his mind. "Elise is already contacting Mr. Adelf. The Dawn Council will attack the Wolf Family alongside you."
"And from the Evil Cemetery in the neighboring Sax State... you've heard of the Living Dead, haven't you?"
Sean added, "He'll be going in person, too."
"The Living Dead..."
The Night Watcher fell silent.
As a fellow aging Tier Six, he had of course heard the name of the Living Dead.
That guy was always messing around in the three states of Krim, Siracle, and Sax, constantly jumping between them. He almost never bothered to hide his tracks, yet the Witch Hunter Families of all three states couldn't do a thing to him. That alone was enough to prove the Living Dead's strength was in no way inferior to his or Adelf's.
But the Night Watcher still seemed unconvinced and didn't agree.
Not until Sean added, "Besides them, Eleanor will also secretly accompany you."
"You've already witnessed her methods. When the time comes, she'll step in to turn the tide and deal with the enemy's main forces. You can handle the remaining small fry yourselves."
As he spoke, Sean looked at Eleanor.
Eleanor immediately nodded. "Yes, Master."
'Though, deep down, she didn't really want to be separated from Sean and her sister.'
Elise, on the other hand, grinned playfully and winked at Eleanor. "Don't you worry, big sister. While you're away, I'll take good care of Master. We'll be spending all our time together, day and night."
Eleanor: "?"
Sean: "..."
"AHEM!"
He coughed loudly and shot the girl a look, signaling her to watch her words.
'There's an 'outsider' present, after all.'
Sure enough.
The Night Watcher wore an expression of contempt.
'It seems Sean's relationship with these two maids isn't as simple as just master and servant.'
'And then there's that Elvire on the outside.'
'This complicated, scummy, messy relationship could even rival that of Lord Blake from back in the day.'
'But who was Lord Blake?'
'The pioneer of the Era of Polymath, the founder of the Hall of Truth, and the only person in the world to surpass Tier Ten.'
'What league was Sean in, to dare imitate Lord Blake?'
'What Lord Blake had was magnanimity.'
'This kid, Sean, could only be called a scumbag.'
Although Sean couldn't guess what the Night Watcher was thinking, he could tell from the man's expression it was nothing good. He forcefully steered the conversation back on topic, asking, "So, are we good now?"
"No problem." The Night Watcher agreed quickly this time.
It was so fast that Sean suddenly realized the old bastard had just been putting on an act, pretending to be in a difficult position!
"You were just waiting for me to say I'd send Eleanor to help you, weren't you?"
"Not at all." The Night Watcher, of course, wouldn't admit it. He simply gave Eleanor a slight bow. "We will be troubling you this time, Miss Eleanor."
Eleanor smiled faintly. "You're welcome, Mr. Night Watcher."
Sean found it odd. "Tell me, why are you so respectful to those two, but you treat me like I owe you money?"
The Night Watcher snorted. "That's a separate matter."
'The Eleanor Sisters were Grand Mages; it was only natural for him to respect them.'
'He who is most skilled is the master—this had always been a tenet of the Holy Sanctuary.'
'Sean, on the other hand, was a mere Tier Three who had also poached his old comrade. Why on earth would he be nice to him?'
'Sean was the Eleanor Sisters' Master, not his. It had nothing to do with him. He would continue to see Sean for who he was. Just because Sean had Grand Mages under his command didn't mean he had to bend to Sean's will. On the contrary, Sean's current demeanor reminded him of the spoiled sons from the great families of the Era of Polymath. They relied on their family's wealth, power, and strong bodyguards to do as they pleased, acting as if they were Grand Mages themselves. He despised people like that more than anyone!'
"Fine, fine." Sean laughed in anger. "Don't you regret this, you old bastard!"
The Night Watcher said flatly, "I never regret my actions."
Sean: "Fine. Remember what you said today."
Night Watcher: "No need to remember. I've always thought of you this way."
Sean: "?"
The Eleanor sisters were snickering at the side.
Sean didn't want to talk to the Night Watcher anymore. He waved his hand in annoyance. "Get out. You're done here."
"Oh, one more thing. Don't tell anyone about Eleanor and Elise's true strength. Absolutely no one."
The Night Watcher nodded, then hesitated for a moment before looking at Eleanor. "Miss Eleanor, may I ask you a question?"
