The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 388 183: Shar and Dorunla
Krim State, Mozgo Castle.
Dorunla had been troubled lately.
A man had set his sights on her.
Dorunla grew up on a farm where her family raised many cows. Quite a few high-end restaurants regularly sourced from them because their cattle were of very high quality. Her father took excellent care of the animals. Not only did he not make them work, but he would also give them spa treatments in his free time and play music for them on the radio, letting them grow up happy, carefree, and content.
Dorunla would often watch her father work. She didn't know if the cows were interested in the music, but she fell in love with it because of this. Her father didn't stand in the way of her hobby; he hired a professional teacher for her. Later, a piano appeared on the farm. Back then, Dorunla's favorite thing to do was to take the radio's place and play the piano for the family's cows.
Regardless of how well she played, the cows were always her most loyal audience.
As Dorunla grew older and more mature, a dream began to take shape in her heart.
She was no longer satisfied with a small farm.
She wanted to become a real pianist, to let all the cows in the world hear the sound from her fingertips.
So, against her father's wishes and after a huge fight with him, she came alone to Mozgo Castle, the most prosperous city in Krim State.
She was going to carve out a place for herself here.
Everything went smoothly at first.
By passing certification exams, working part-time at high-end restaurants, and accompanying artists who were already somewhat famous, she successfully captured the attention of industry insiders. With her innate musical Talent, she secured her first commercial sponsorship and the opportunity for a public solo performance.
That performance was a complete success.
Because of it, she gained everyone's approval and slowly began to make a name for herself.
But the good times didn't last.
Just as she was preparing for a performance at the Royal Opera House, a man named Carlos Wolf appeared out of nowhere.
The Royal Opera House was the gateway for any musician in Krim to reach the world stage. It was a chance to make her dream come true, and Dorunla was confident she could seize this opportunity. She had been preparing for a very, very long time. But she never expected Carlos to act so despotically. He bought all the tickets, drove away her original audience, and made her perform for him alone.
When Dorunla first heard the news, she was furious.
The director of the opera house was helpless. He told her there was nothing they could do; no one could afford to offend this man.
The Wolf Family was the biggest capital power in Krim State. Even the government had to greet them with a smile, let alone a small opera house.
"Actually... Miss Dorunla."
"If you can win his favor, it might be an even better opportunity."
The director tried to console her.
It's very easy for capital to promote someone.
Turning an unknown nobody into a household name, or even an international superstar, was just a matter of them saying the word.
"Do you know that writer, Sean? From the neighboring Siracle State."
The director said, "He's the perfect example."
First, he was unknown. Then he shot to fame. Then he was wanted statewide. It was like riding a roller coaster—one moment in Heaven, the next in Hell. That's the kind of Energy those big families have.
But Dorunla was unwilling.
She knew what Carlos wanted from her, and she refused. Her body, her heart, her everything—she would only give them to someone she loved. But Carlos and the Wolf Family were too powerful; there was no escaping them. Dorunla knew all too well the nature and power of these aristocrats. To put it bluntly, even if Carlos acted like a beast, sent men to kidnap her, and raped her, there would be nothing she could do to resist.
So Dorunla went to a hospital and paid someone to forge a custom-made male physical examination report for her.
She decided on a strategic retreat!
Carlos liked women. As long as she wasn't a woman, he would naturally lose interest.
But Dorunla never imagined that Carlos wasn't just a scumbag who liked to coerce girls with his power, but an *elegant* scumbag who loved music. Carlos genuinely loved the piano. So even after he came to believe she was a man, he still didn't let her go. He continued to book out her entire venue, just like before. The only difference was that his invitation changed from asking her to be his woman to asking her to be his "brother"... and to come play piano at his house.
How could Dorunla dare to agree?
She was a fake man. If she really became "brothers" with Carlos, she'd be found out sooner or later.
All she could do was keep refusing while playing her part.
But this time, Carlos didn't give her a chance to refuse.
The man actually wanted to take her on a business trip to the distant Sonaros State.
"I'm not used to the music over there. You're coming with me." —Those were Carlos's exact words.
This just went to show that Carlos was indeed a man of particular tastes.
Dorunla just thought the guy was sick in the head.
'It's a business trip, so just do business! Why do you need to listen to the piano?'
'So unprofessional!'
But she couldn't refuse, so all she could do was go back to her apartment, pack her things, and prepare to head to the airport.
In front of the mirror, Dorunla looked at her own sorrowful reflection and sighed softly.
"I really should have listened to my father and not come to Mozgo Castle."
"If it comes to it, I'll find a chance to run... I'll just hide out in Sonaros State for a while."
'Since it's a business trip, we'll have to come back eventually,' Dorunla thought. 'Carlos can't possibly stay in Sonaros State forever. This might be my only chance in this lifetime to escape his clutches.'
"Shar, I might be coming to seek refuge with you." A wry smile touched her lips.
