Chapter 43: Four mate marks

Liliana opened both of her eyes after half an hour had passed. She blinked several times before feeling a sharp pain between her legs.

"You’re awake?" Cassian asked.

Liliana’s body tensed instantly. She turned and looked at Cassian’s face, which was now as dark as his wolf’s fur.

"Brother..." Liliana said in a soft voice, holding back her fear.

"Get up. Heal your wounds like before without me having to tell you twice," Cassian said in a cold voice.

Liliana swallowed her saliva, then nodded heavily.

After finishing, she immediately rose from her position and sat facing Cassian, who was still staring at her sharply.

"Brother..."

"You gave yourself again to another werewolf?" Cassian asked.

Liliana shook her head. "Brother, this is different from what you’re thinking. Do you think I wanted to give myself to another werewolf so easily?"

Cassian crossed both of his legs, then placed both of his hands on top of his legs.

"Liliana. Was I wrong to let you enter my Pack Draven?"

Liliana hurriedly shook her head again. "Brother, this really isn’t like what you’re thinking. I’m not that kind of werewolf. Besides, with a face like mine, do you think there would be any Alpha candidate who would voluntarily mark me as his mate?" Liliana asked.

"Even Adrian and Alaric Beaumont, who hold a lower position than Pack Valmont and Pack Laurent, rejected me as their Luna. They preferred my sister as their Luna over me. How could they want to mark me voluntarily?" Liliana added, seeing that Cassian’s face was still dark.

"Liliana..." Cassian called again.

"Brother." Liliana immediately cut him off, then got down from the bed and reached for Cassian’s feet. "I swear, I never seduced them. I also never offered my body just to please those Alpha candidates. Brother... please believe me. I swear."

Cassian looked down and lifted Liliana’s chin.

Liliana looked up. "Brother... in this world, only you, Father, Mother, and Lady Mega are willing to accept me as family. Do you think I would willingly trade my dignity just so they could mark me as their Luna?"

"Liliana, look at Brother’s eyes," Cassian ordered.

"Brother..." Liliana said again as tears began to well up. "I let them mark me because my body wanted it. The mate mark from the Moon Goddess forced me to unite with them immediately. I swear, I’m not lying. Please don’t throw me away," Liliana said in a hoarse voice.

Cassian exhaled roughly. He looked to the side for a moment before helping Liliana stand.

"Stand up," he said.

"You won’t throw me away, right?" Liliana asked, still reluctant to stand.

Cassian looked at Liliana. "Stand," he ordered again.

Liliana nodded and followed Cassian’s order to stand.

"Do you think the Draven family is a family that can be easily entered and left whenever you want?" Cassian asked.

"You are my sister. A sister whom I have personally acknowledged, as well as an adopted child who has signed a blood pact with my Father and Mother."

Liliana looked up at Cassian.

"I won’t throw you away, and neither will Pack Draven. You will still be my sister," Cassian answered.

"You’re not angry after two wolves marked me?"

Cassian smiled. "Doesn’t my face explain that well enough?" he asked.

"I’m sorry," Liliana said while reaching for Cassian’s arm. "My power is too weak. I couldn’t refuse the demands of that mate mark."

Cassian looked at her for a moment. "I know. Those two wolves couldn’t even control the urge of the mate mark in your body. How could you be able to control it?"

"Brother... actually there’s something I want to tell you about this," Liliana said after a while.

"Say it."

"There’s something different about the mate marks on my body with my mates this time."

"What do you mean?" Cassian asked with narrowed eyes.

"My body reacted more strongly compared to when I found out Alaric and Adrian were my mates."

"That’s normal," Cassian answered casually, trying to calm her. "Their power is much weaker, Liliana."

Liliana shook her head. "Brother... this is different. I can feel it. My mate marks with Xavier and Lucien are really strange. I’ve already told you, haven’t I, that before Xavier marked me, we had already tried every way we knew to cancel that fated mark from the Moon Goddess?"

"Liliana," Cassian said while holding her shoulders that were trembling from nervousness.

"Brother will help you resolve this problem. You must stay calm and trust Brother. Understand?"

Liliana looked up before nodding as she met Cassian’s eyes that were so full of confidence.

"Brother..." Liliana said after a while. "There’s one more thing I haven’t told you."

Cassian’s brow furrowed even deeper. He knew this was something more important than the previous matters.

"Say it."

"Brother, actually I..." Liliana said while unbuttoning the top of her clothes.

"What are you trying to do?" Cassian asked while holding her hand.

"Brother, please look first. This is really strange," she said.

"What do you mean?"

"My mate marks given by the Moon Goddess. Please look first."

Cassian finally released Liliana’s hand as she slowly unbuttoned her uniform.

As the top button of Liliana’s uniform opened and revealed her collarbone, Cassian’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Liliana... you?"

There were four mate marks there with moon symbols. Two of them were white, while the other two had already changed color. One was red with Xavier’s name above it, while the other was yellow with Lucien’s name above it.

Liliana nodded. "These mate marks... I obtained them after Lucien and Xavier marked me."

"Brother..." she added. "The Moon Goddess didn’t only give me one mate. She gave me four mates," she said with a face full of worry.

Cassian was still staring at those mate marks with disbelieving eyes. He looked down after a while while clenching his fists.

"Liliana..." Cassian said. "This is really strange. Werewolves always have one fated mate from the Moon Goddess. They only get a new mate if their previous mate dies or rejects them."

"The incident when you had two mates from the Moon Goddess... was already shocking enough at that time. That was already strange and impossible, even though they were twins."

"But what is this now? You have four mates from the Moon Goddess," Cassian added while looking into Liliana’s dark brown eyes.

Liliana clenched her fingers tightly. "Brother, am I strange? Does this have something to do with my wolf?"

Cassian shook his head. "Something like this has never happened before. I have to ask Father Alpha. He must know more than I do."
