Chapter 3507: Wait For The Right Moment

Chapter 3507: Wait For The Right Moment

Rui’s expression hardened as he leaped, evading the destructive shot of the Dragon Emperor, a gesture that created yet another wave of tsunamis across the entire planet, while the Dragon Emperor swiftly turned, unleashing a powerful water whip without so much as even missing a beat.

WHOOSH

Rui twirled midair, barely avoiding the destructively powerful tail whip from crushing his lower body, only to find himself coming face to face with the Dragon Emperor’s radioactive glowing claws.

It was within his prediction.

WHOOSH

The Dragon Emperor’s yellow, reptilian eyes widened as his claws crashed into an empty image.

Before he could even react, he felt a thundering blow permeating deep into his body at his abdomen.

BOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Rui’s eyes sharpened as he momentarily activated Hypertrophic Surge, unleashing a destructive blow of great power that penetrated past the invincible armor of the Dragon Emperor.

He had already switched to Neo Godspeed even before the Dragon Emperor could lift a foot to crush Rui, smoothly evading the attack.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

RUMBLE!!!

The world shook as countless more fissures emerged across the entirety of the ocean floor, as Rui felt his nerves tingle with danger and horror of what could come if this continued.

And yet, the Dragon Emperor left him no time to even fathom the possibilities as he found himself face to face with Dragon Emperor’s glowing, radioactive claws.

It was within his predictions.

WHOOSH

He smoothly ducked, lying almost parallel to the fissuring ground, before using the momentum of the motion to land a summersault kick on the Dragon Emperor’s head.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!

He permeated the impact past the skull with Death’s Sympathy, conveying the force of his kick to the Dragon Emperor’s brain.

An attack that should have been impossible to survive.

And yet, to Rui’s horror, the Dragon Emperor merely stirred, shifting his gaze to Rui with an ’is that the best you can do?’ expression.

Somehow, even his brain was tough enough to withstand Rui’s attacks.

It was at that moment that Rui realized just what kind of monster he was dealing with. A Death’s Sympathy attack to the head meant absolutely certain death if executed successfully.

The only person who had ever survived it was the Gatekeeper, but even he had been put in a coma until the Divine Doctor healed him. Now, Rui had finally come face to face with an opponent who could not only survive the attack, but also completely withstand it.

“Is that what you were banking on?” The Dragon Emperor sneered. “I do not blame you; the brain is indeed the most vulnerable part of all organisms, including me. But you see… my body is so dense, tough, and indestructible that even the most vulnerable part of my body is tough enough to withstand your strongest attacks.”

The air grew heavy as Rui’s expression darkened.

It seemed to drown in the endless darkness he was surrounded by at the deepest depths of the ocean, illuminated only by the ominous apocalyptic red of the Dragon Emperor.

In that moment, Rui realized that despite his most extreme projections of how difficult it would be to kill the Dragon Emperor, he had somehow underestimated Lord Shenlong nonetheless.

He was a monster in every sense of the word.

’I have only one shot at killing him in the moment.’

His greatest weapon of death.

And yet, he knew instinctively and through his prophecy that if he simply tossed it at the Dragon Emperor, he would not be able to succeed. The Dragon Emperor’s tenacious life force, for lack of a better word, was so high that not even the weapon of death that Rui would have once considered to be absolute would be guaranteed to succeed.

He had already seen another member of the top ten overcome his most lethal weapon.

’I need to wait for the right moment.’

Rui shifted his understanding of the battle they were in right now.

He put aside any thoughts he had on trying to accumulate damage on the Dragon Emperor with a long battle of countless attacks permeated through his body. The earlier exchange showed him that this was simply not a viable path to victory, not with someone as incredibly tough as the Dragon Emperor.

However, he still knew that he had an advantage long-term because the Dragon Emperor was unable to breathe underwater. Of course, that didn’t mean that he was gasping for air or anything of the sort.

An overwhelming majority of his cells contained mitochondrial cold fusion reactors that could generate energy through nuclear fusion rather than the combustion of ATP through oxygen. However, Rui could also sense, thanks to the Tree of Life enlightenment that the cold fusion reactor was not something that could be used for all essential metabolism.

Because his Tree of Life showed him that an environment without oxygen would lead to the Dragon Emperor’s eventual death, Rui could deduce that some parts of his body likely still relied on oxygen.

Rui wasn’t entirely sure why, but he could be certain that it was likely because there were highly delicate metabolic processes that could be disrupted by the intense radiation that cold fusion generated.

The most delicate metabolic process, of course, was that of the brain. Most likely, his brain relied on regular ATP and oxygen for its most essential purposes, which made sense considering how little energy the brain consumed. At most, it used a modicum of cold fusion-generated energy for its more energy-consuming tasks.

Regardless, he knew there would come a moment when the Dragon Emperor would reach his limits. It was bound to happen sooner than Rui lost his stamina. Although he couldn’t see any sunlight this deep in the Great Void Ocean, his Blood of Solaris still supplied him with the energy that he needed to prolong his battle indefinitely.

In comparison, anybody could tell with a single look at the Dragon Emperor that he wasn’t built for stamina.

He was built for power.

For unstoppable dominance.

If he couldn’t defeat Rui before he reached his limit, then he would lose.
