Chapter 183 - family confrontation

We entered the party again, and sister Elena came towards Amy.

"Where have you been? Lots of people asked for you."

"I have to handle those too."

She said it in an annoyed tone.

Amy just smiled and said, "I went to deal with a pest."

Elena immediately got interested. "Oh, that sounds like news to me. Tell me."

Then she looked at me and Luna. "Ahh, are you two in this too? You guys are so not cool."

Luna laughed and said, "Yeah, sis, you should have been there. That was very interesting."

Elena’s eyes widened and looked at Amy. "Tell me..."

Amy just ignored her. "No, I’ll tell you some other time. It’s more fun that way."

She looked annoyed and looked at me, so I nodded.

"Before today’s banquet is over, you can watch it. I guarantee it will be fun."

Then I leaned in and asked, "In exchange, give me some of Luna’s old stories."

Elena smiled at that and nodded. "You got it. I have plenty."

Luna watched that with twitching eyes. "You two are impossible."

Then she turned to Elena. "Sis, you are not allowed to tell him anything."

Elena laughed. "Let’s see if this is as entertaining as he said. I might share some."

Luna’s eyes widened. "Sis, don’t..."

Elena laughed and went with Amy. "Let’s see about that."

As soon as she left, Luna turned to me. I looked at her.

She glared at me. "If you make fun of me, I’ll make sure you can’t do it again."

I nodded with a thoughtful expression. "Hmm, you’re finally going to show your true colors as an evil princess."

She puffed out her cheeks. "So what? Be scared of me."

I poked at her cheeks. "Oh yeah, yeah. I’m so scared."

She hit me in annoyance.

I just laughed, and we went to Amy’s side because now the show was going to start.

Then Amy saw me and pointed in a direction. I looked in that direction and saw a middle-aged man going around.

Her words were, "That’s his father."

A grin appeared on my face as I looked at him.

Astrid came to our side, and I asked, "How did things go? Did you find out which family the other trash belongs to?"

She nodded, so I said, "When this comes out, give Mom the information. No one will go free from this. Anyone who tries to hurt Amy deserves to die."

Astrid smiled at that, a warm smile. "Hmm, but Gray, don’t go near that room."

I chuckled at that. I could imagine what happened when the two of them were drugged to the brim and trapped in a room like wild beasts.

I just watched the show to see what was going to happen.

Then Luna asked, "What if someone drugs you?"

I just yawned. "That’s completely fine."

She blinked. "Why is that?"

"I have many methods to remove drugs, and my physique is adept at those and has many resistances, so I won’t worry about poison and drugs much."

She nodded, and we saw that man come to Amy’s side and ask, "Amy, did you see your cousin Lucas? I learned that he was last seen around you."

Amy just smiled. "Oh, him? I dealt with him. He should be alive, don’t worry."

His eyes widened, and even Grandma looked at Amy with surprise. "What do you mean, Amy?"

Lucas’s father got a bad premonition and asked in a grim tone, "What do you mean, dealt with him?"

Mom felt the situation change and came to Amy’s side.

But Amy was calm as water. She just said, "I mean, I dealt with him, and in the future, if I see him, I will deal with him in the future. So make sure after today you never show your son to me."

"After a few hours, Astrid will release him. Then you can take him."

The words landed on him, and immense anger appeared on him.

Lucas was his pride, one of the most talented children in the family.

Grandma frowned as well a little. She came to Amy’s side and asked, "Explain, Amy."

Amy didn’t back down, and Mom just stood by her side.

"Amy, what’s happened? Tell me. I will take care of it."

Now the guests of the party felt the sudden change in the mood too.

Then Lucas’s father said, "Pray that my son didn’t get hurt, or..."

My mom cut him off. "Or what? What are you going to do, Zane? Do tell me, what can you do to her?"

His gaze moved to my mom. "Stay out of this, Seraphina. This is a matter of my son. I won’t back down."

Mom laughed. "Oh, so what? This is a matter concerning my daughter. I certainly can’t back down."

Then Mom looked at Amy and asked, "Tell me, Amy. What’s happened? I know you. You are the most responsible."

Amy’s face softened and she said, "Lucas tried to drug me, Mom. Gray found out, and Lucas called me by saying he had to tell me something in private."

"So Gray followed me with Astrid and Luna, so we captured him and..."

Amy didn’t have time to finish her words. A heavy killing intent appeared in the room, and Mom’s gaze moved to Zane.

Grandma stopped Mom. "Seraphina, I understand your feelings, but wait until we listen to all of it."

Mom looked at Grandma. Her eyes held no warmth. She said, "Listen to what? What else do I need to listen to, Mom? Someone tried to drug my own daughter at her birthday. Do you think I need to listen to any more?"

Mom is the most analytical person most of the time, but when it’s connected to us, she always loses her cool.

Zane’s face turned pale from the killing intent alone. All the killing intent was directed towards him.

But Amy continued, "We found out why he did it and his petty excuses."

Mom waited a moment and listened to that, giving Zane a breathing room, and he asked, "What did you do to my son?"

She smiled a cruel smile. "Oh, what did I do?"

Elena watched the whole scene. She was angry about the drug situation, but Amy was ultimately fine, so she enjoyed the show.

"Hmm, Gray, this is indeed interesting. I’ll definitely give you those stories."

I grinned and said, "There’s more to this than this. The most interesting part is ahead."

Elena’s eyes widened, and a grin appeared. "Oh, I presume it’s the punishment."

I nodded.

And Luna just stayed to the side, her own sister selling her embarrassing stories for a good story.

She was speechless and didn’t even bother to stop Elena. She watched the main situation.

Amy then said, "I planned to do many things, but Gray gave me a good idea. Tit for tat."

"I did the exact same thing he tried to do to me."

Many watched the confrontation. The other branch family members didn’t take Zane’s side. They just observed. They only cared about themselves. If Zane died, they would have his power as well to divide.

But they were interested in how this was going to be.

Mom looked at me. I looked up and whistled.

A small smile appeared on Mom’s face despite the situation. She knew me. If someone tried to hurt Amy, I wouldn’t let that person go no matter what.

So Mom called, "Astrid."

Then Astrid appeared beside Mom and referred to Mom as "Patriarch."

Mom nodded. This was a formal, not friendly, address. Mom tolerated only us calling her casually, and Mom didn’t like us calling her family head or patriarch either.

Mom looked at Astrid and asked, "Explain the situation."

Then Astrid began to explain without any falsehood.

Zane listened to that too. He was powerless in this moment. He was only a branch family head. He could retaliate if the family head targeted him unreasonably, but this was a valid reason, and he knew Grandma didn’t stand by his side this time.

The more he listened, the grimmer his face became. His son’s confession, the other party who was connected to this...

And when Grandma listened to them as well, her face hardened. She originally planned to save that kid. After all, that kid was a Starlight. But now, listening to this...

A next-head candidate got help from another family.

She clearly knew the implications. If that person became the next head by some miracle, the Starlight family would basically become a puppet family.

Then Astrid came to the punishment part, and many gasped.

Elena covered her mouth. "Oh, Gray, this is..."

"I can’t tell, really, but this is awesome. Totally worth it."

I chuckled, and even Luna got reminded of the punishment, and she too chuckled.

Cecilia covered her mouth.

Evelyn watched it. She thought I got impulsive and did something rash, but this made her chuckle.

Zane lost all the color from his face.

Then Grandma announced, "I don’t care if your son is fine after today. Your branch family is banned from participating in the family head position forever."

Zane’s eyes widened, and Grandma continued, "If I find out your branch family conspired with another family to harm the family’s interests, I will strip you from the Starlight family name."

Heavy silence fell upon the room.
