Chapter 249: Shadow vs Shockwave
Without any hesitation, Aric raised his giant rapier and swung it at the tiny figure of Namor with all his titanic might.
The giant rapier descended with speed that belied it’s size, splitting the air and space alike.
The rapier cleaved everything in path, the ground included on which a long trench that spanned over a kilometer was carved. But it failed to meet its original objective as Namor was already out of the attack’s way.
BOOM!
A sound akin to that of a thunderclap echoed through the cloud of dust and debris a moment after Namor’s figure shot upwards from it.
Namor arrived face to face with the giant Aric, like a mere mosquito before a giant. However, the grin on Namor’s face only widened as a massive mace more than half his size appeared in his hands.
Seeing that, a bad premonition overtook Aric, but before he could act on it, Namor swung the massive mace at his giant face.
The mace didn’t so much as touch Aric, but a thunderous beat, like that of a drum sounded from the drum, followed by an annihilating shockwave that hit Aric at point blank.
The entire world itself shuddered, the air split apart, and a blinding aura flashed outward, eclipsing everything else, and shattering everything in its way. Everything for kilometers on end, was reduced to flattened dust.
Aric meanwhile, his giant body flew backwards so fast and hard that he crashed through not one, not two, but three mountains in a blink, his titanic strength reducing them to rubble.
"A MATCH OF IMMENSE SCALE THIS IS!" The commentator roared in glee. "EVERY OTHER MATCH SHOULD TAKE A PAGE FROM THIS ONE!"
Namor arrived atop the giant Shadow’s head before the noble could get up. Once again, he swung his massive mace directly at Aric’s face.
On impact, a concussive shockwave of cataclysmic properties blasted outwards, levelling everything in its way.
But Namor didn’t relent, he raised his mace, and struck again, and again. Each blow pushed Aric’s giant body further into the ground, while simultaneously shaking the world around them, tering trees apart anclecelling mountains to the ground.
Namor gave Aric no chance to counterattack whatsoever. It was as if he had found his purpose in life, which was to keep hitting Aric on the face all while with a grin on his face.
But Aric had had enough. A fist shaped shadow suddenly appeared from Aric’s face, and punched at Namor who was mid swing. The fist caught Namor off guard and hit him directly in the guts.
The merfolk prince’s body shot away like a bullet towards a distant mountain range.
Aric, though disoriented, quickly regained his footing, tore himself out from the hole his body had made on the ground, and stood upright. While he had been annoyed by Namor’s attacks, he was by no means injured. He was invulnerable when in this form after all.
Only when his aether was exhausted did he revert back to his normal form, and Aric could feel that scenario would happen in less than half a minute. Which meant he couldn’t afford to waste time, or he’d be a fish on the chopping block the moment he couldn’t sustain this form anymore.
<Shadow wave>
Aric swung his giant rapier at seemingly nothing with reckless abandon. But it was only seemingly. As the giant horizontal black wave shot outwards, it covered the distance in less than a blink, and arrived before the chain of mountains in an instant.
The moment the shadow wave came in contact with the mountain chain, mountains were cleaved apart as if they were nothing more than soft tofu before a knife.
Namor meanwhile had managed to evade everything through the expert use of his shockwave manipulation. In fact, even the dust on his body were blasted away by controlled shockwaves.
However, the moment Aric’s enhanced eyes caught sight of Namor, giant shadow wings of immense proportions sprang out from his back. With a single flap, he was already before the tiny figure of Namor, leaving dust in his wake.
"Hahaha, this is the type of fights I long for!" Namor laughed wildly. "But you must remember, I am still a rank above you, and that I have also breached the walls of the Zeta- rank, which means...." Namor paused. "I also have another ability."
As Aric’s massive blade proceeded to fall on him, Namor raised a hand, and muttered; "Seismic wave."
The very air began to vibrate starting from where Namor stood, and spread up to cover the surroundings, including but not limited to Aric.
"This is my Zeta ability, before breaking through to the Zeta- rank, my shockwaves could only emerge from my body, and it causes devastating effects to the surroundings. But after I got my new ability, I can now use vibrations as a medium." Namor grinned as an invisible pulse pushed back the blade descending on him, almost blasting it out of Aric’s hand.
What Namor didn’t say was that he could use his new ability to cause a series of ’structural failures’ within the body. But alas, since Aric was currently somewhat invulnerable from what Namor could tell, it might not work on him.
That didn’t mean it necessarily wouldn’t though. All Namor needed was a single touch to determine that. But that would be a waste. What he had showed alone was enough to defeat Aric.
Another controlled pulse struck Aric’s body dropping him to the ground from the sky, and another quick pulse struck behind both knees, bringing him down to his knees.
Aric instinctively tried to flap his wings once more, but a dissonant wave shook his entire being, conflicting his senses with vertigo.
Before he could recover, Namor disappeared from his spot and reappeared atop Aric’s shoulder already in a motion to smash the side of Aric’s face with his mace.
BOOM!
Aric’s entire world tilted sideways as his massive body was launched a few kilometers away.
While flying a few meters away from the ground, Aric’s wings suddenly tried to flap, but an even stronger pulse blasted him into the ground.
A moment later, Namor reappeared atop Aric’s fallen figure, but the moment he did, shadow tendrils burst out from Aric’s body and held him firmly in their grasp.
Before he could even blink, a shadow shaped much like Namor’s own mace rose up and smacked Namor’s entire figure away as if he was but a pesky little fly.
Namor’s body shot through the landscape at immense speeds, before eventually coming to a stop after his body tore a deep trench that dragged on for a few dozen meters in the ground.
Trying to stand up, the merfolk prince coughed out a mouthful of blood. Ever since the convergence itself started, this was the first time he had taken a serious hit.
He raised a hand to his bleeding head, wiping the blood running down his face and swiping his hair backwards just in time for Aric’s rapier to fall towards him.
With a practiced leap, Namor left the ground with a blast of shockwave beneath his feet. In less than the moment it took to blink, he reached the blade of the sword.
Namor ran across the edge of the rapier all the way until he reached the space between Aric’s hand and the hilt.
He then stomped on the hilt of the blade, sending a pulse that dragged the blade downwards along with Aric’s hand.
Aricbinstincrively resisted, twisting the blade in his hand, and turning the tip to face the ground, successfully stopping himself from losing balance.
A shadow tendrils shot out from beneath Namor and tried to wrap itself around him, but he knew better than to let that happen again.
Namor ran across Aric’s arm, evading each of the tendrils that tried to catch him, until he reached Aric’s ears.
BOOOOM!
It felt as if the world exploded in Aric’s ear as Namor clapped his hands releasing a devastating shockwave right into the shadow giant’s ear.
Aric got disoriented, and tilted towards the ground, and Namor seeing that, hurriedly tried to race down Aric’s body. However, he unfortunately got in the way of Aric’s arm, and got backhanded into the distance.
As Aric’s giant figure crashed into the ground, Namor’s body bounced a few times in the distance, before ultimately coming to a stop.
"I have gotten wrecked like this in a long while." Namor winced as he tried to get off the ground.
After successfully staggering up on his feet, Namor realized the massive shadowy figure of Aric was suddenly shrinking down, very fast at that.
"Seems he can’t hold that form anymore." Namor mused. "In that case..." He bent his legs. "Time to end...."
Before Namor could complete his sentence however, the commentator’s voice echoed.
"NAMOR STORMBORNE WINS!!!!!"
