Chapter 250: Blood and Fire
"NAMOR STORMBORNE WINS!!!!" The commentator yelled on top of his lungs as Aric reverted to his human form.
’It is quite surprising, but far from unexpected.’ Damon thought as he adjusted his seat. The fact that Aric had lost to Namor was a given, after all, the current Aric wasn’t strong enough defeat the current Namor.
Even though Aric’s Zeta ability made him virtually invulnerable, it would only last until his aether was exhausted. Nevertheless, Aric did make the merfolk prince sweat for his win.
"THAT WAS A PHENOMENAL MATCH I TELL YOU! THESE TWO ARE TITANS OF IMMENSE STRENGTH!!" The commentator roared.
Meanwhile, down on the battlefield, Namor appeared before Aric’s kneeling and exhausted form with a split of the air.
"You pushed me much father than I thought." Namor grinned. "I must admit, you are strong."
"Clearly not strong enough." Aric shook his head. "If not, you’d be the one on your knees."
Aric’s figure son shimmered and disappeared, while Namor was transported back onto the platform.
After Namor’s match, the others also won their matches, leaving only the finalists for the quarter final namely; Alistair, Anastasia, Kaal, Namor, Mayura, Calum, Rose, and Damon.
The quarter finals was to begin next day, so the qualifiers were all dismissed.

Meanwhile, in the hall with the Alpha rankers.
"You still think your daughter stands a chance against my son?" Selene turned to her daughter with a soft smile.
"Oh for heaven’s sake, she is your granddaughter too, mother." Celeste scoffed.
"Too bad only Alexa and I don’t have any offspring or descendants participating in the convergence." Lucas chuckled.
"It’s not that bad, at the very least, I have nothing to worry about." Alexa shrugged. "I know you all have certainly noticed, that imposter child is giving a mysterious aura." She said. "I don’t care if you all feel offended, but I believe none of those seven could beat the imposter child."
"Well, we’ll just have to wait and see that now won’t we?" Sevas scoffed. His hatred for the imposter still very much burned.
"That aside..." Lucas’s face turned serious. "...’they’ve’ began moving." he said.
The entire room grew silent at Lucas’s words, as if sound itself was forbidden to exist. It was only after a few moments of silence, Amon was the one who broke the silence.
"I see." A cruel light flashed through his eyes. "It was only a matter of time before they resurfaced."
"After the stunt they pulled during your Ivos gala, one would think they’d be silent for much longer." Rhudeus turned to the humans in the room.
"Indeed, those pests should have been much more dormant for longer." Ellaria said. "But instead, they’re taking advantage of the fact that we all are not in our domains to make a move."
"Still, they wouldn’t dare to do anything rash at the moment lest they incur our wrath." Selene said, her voice chilling towards the end.
"I don’t think they fear incurring our wrath, Selene." Regulus shook his head with a mirth smile. "After all, they know us inside out... more than anyone in this world."
"What a pain, can’t these bastards just lie down forever?" Alexa groaned.
"If we want them to lie down forever, we’ll just have to release them from the fabric of this universe." Amon said as he stood up. "I’ll be back." he said and vanished form his spot.
----------
Damon arrived back at his lodge late in the evening because he decided to take a long walk across the capital city of the Demon Empire.
"What took you so long, Boss?" A chirpy voice asked the moment Damon walked into the room.
"By the gods Pixie, you would have startled the shit out of me if I hadn’t seen you beforehand." Damon groaned.
As long as his mirror sight was active, he could never be ambushed or startled. He could see from even the enemy’s eyes after all, or even the reflective surface of a cold blade.
"I know, I was trying to lift your spirits." Pixie said.
"Lift my spirits?" Damon lifted a brow. "Do I look like a depressed hobo or something?" He asked. Last he looked in a mirror, which was now (due to him being able to see himself from reflections), he didn’t look like that one bit.
"She’s trying to say you just look a little down." Vera said from behind the petite girl.
"Down huh?" Damon let out a breath. " No, I’m not feeling down or anything, just a little wistful is all." He muttered.
"Is it because you’re fighting someone you know tomorrow?" Bob asked from the side.
"Gods no, even if I feel wistful about someone, it wouldn’t be about that golden fool." Damon grimaced.
"Huh, for a moment there I thought you were nervous about the fight." Khloe sighed in relief. "You are not allowed to lose, I betted all of the organization’s fortune on you."
"You what?!" Damon screamed.
"What? I thought you said you were the strongest strongest!" Khloe offered.
"So, it doesn’t mean shit." Damon replied.
"So you’re saying there is a chance that you lose?" Vera asked.
"Not a chance in hell!" Damon immediately protested.
"You see, my absolute confidence in your strength is what made me bet everything on you." Khloe affirmed.
"By the gods, you are a crazy woman." Damon shook his head before asking. "By the way, where is Misra?"
"She said she had something to take care of, says she’ll be back in two days." Bob replied.
"I see." Damon muttered. The demoness might probably be up to something.
"I’ll go rest a little." he muttered after a short beat of silence, and disappeared.
-------------
The next day quickly arrived with full on energy. Everyone was extremely excited for the quarter finals. The participants appeared on the flavoring platform at the same time, all eight of them.
"WELCOME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO THE QUARTER FINALS OF THE LAST PHASE OF THE CONVERGENCE OF RACES! IT IS YOURS TRULY, YOUR COMMENTATOR AND PROCTOR, IAN VON SANGUINE!" The proctor for the first time, said his name.
"AS USUAL, I’LL PROCEED TO CALL OUT THE FIRST MATCH WITHOUT WASTING ANY TIME! FOR THE FIRST MATCH, I CALL ON, THE BLOOD PRINCE, THE CRIMSON MONARCH, KAAL VON SANGUINE!"
"FACING HIM IS SOMEONE WE ALL KNOW, SHE HAS PROVEN HERSELF ON THIS BATTLEFIELD, THE PHOENIX PRINCESS HERSELF, ROSE DARKFELL!!!"
As the audience outside the pocket realm erupted in cheers, both the combatants were transported to the ground by the white light.
Both stared stared at each other with emotionless expressions. None of them deigned to ask the other to give up the match, because both were sure none of them would give up.
Rose could tell Kaal would never give up since the expectations of the entire demon race rested on his shoulders. While it wasn’t quite the same for Rose, Kaal was certain rose wasn’t the type of person to give up.
"AH, NO WORDS I SEE." The commentator sounded disappointed. "I WAS HOPING TO SEE SOME EXCHANGE OF WORDS OR SOMETHING, A BUMMER I GUESS!"
"ANYWAY, I HEREBY DECLARE THIS MATCH TO BEGIN!!!"
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The moment the commentator gave the go ahead for the match to begin, the world exploded in a cacophony of explosions as blood and flames collided against each other.
The screens broadcasting the match were torn between two colors, blood red and incandescent.
And in the battle between blood and flames, the flames ultimately came out on top, overpowering and burning the blood to nothingness.
However, just before the blood could be fully burnt to nothingness, a blood red spear spinning so fast it seemed to suck in the space around it punched through both the residual blood and flame, before shooting at at Rose at Mach speeds.
Even at such speeds, Rose still managed to tilt her head to the side, letting the spear tear through the space her head had been a fraction of a second earlier.
The sheer force generated from the spear’s movement tore a massive trench open and destroyed everything in it’s path. The spear only came to a stop after a few kilometers and then reverted back to liquid blood.
"WHAT A PHENOMENAL START!" The commentator roared.
Meanwhile, Kaal and Rose heard none of it. They had already clashed, spear and sword in hand. They exchanged moves so fast the cameras couldn’t even capture their figures. One moment they were here, and the next, they were there, leaving nothing but a scorched landscape.
Every time, only the sound of their clashes was the only thing that revealed their positions, followed by the devastation that followed.
Rose performed an overhead slash, but kaal let it skim off the shaft of his spear, before his leg kicked upwards at Rose’s face, only for her entire midsection to bend entirely to the side, evading the blow.
A flash fire then erupted from her palm straight at Kaal’s face. Kaal having sensed the danger beforehand, quickly flickered backwards as the fire burned the very space his face had been in.
Then in the next moment,
