Chapter 248: I FORFEIT!!!
A/N: IVE BEEN EXTREMELY BUSY THIS PAST WEEK AND HAVENT HAD A SINGLE MINUTE TO MYSELF, SO SORRY FOR THE LACK OF UPDATES.
The next day arrived like the rise of the morning star, and all participants successfully arrived on the floating platform.
"WELCOME, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, TO THE ROUND OF SIXTEEN. I ASSURE YOU THIS WOULD BE ONE OF THE MOST ENTERTAINING ROUNDS IN THIS TOURNAMENT.
LIKE ALWAYS, WE WILL PROCEED TO CALL OUT THE FIRST MATCH. WE HAVE THE PRINCE OF BLOOD AGAINST THE PRINCESS OF VINES DELILAH WHETSTONE!!!"
Kaal stood up without fanfare, most of the demons that would have cheered at his name had been eliminated after all. Including Kaal himself, there were only two Demons still in the tournament.
On the other hand, there were eight humans still on the platform including Delilah. But Kaal intended to cut that number down by beating Delilah.
However, "I forfeit!"
"WHAT?!!" The commentator’s head snapped to Delilah along with every single person present.
"What?" Delilah shrugged. "I have no chance whatsoever in beating the blood prince, and I have no intension of deluding myself into thinking I could."
’A human who knows her worth, how surprising.’ Kaal internally mused. He had been taught that humans were arrogant and ignorant to the point of death.
"TSK, AND HERE I WAS MOUTHING THAT THIS ROUND MIGHT BE ONE OF THE BEST AND THEN YOU JUST GO AND GIVE UP THE FIRST MATCH." The commentator clicked his tongue.
Delilah ignored his grumbling and instead, smiled at Rose and Anastasia. "See you two later, make sure you give them hell."
"That we will, Lilah." Anastasia smiled in return, before Delilah’s body vanished from atop the platform.
"NOW, THE BLOOD PRINCE AUTOMATICALLY GETS A PASS TO THE NEXT ROUND SINCE THE PARTICIPANT SUPPOSED TO FIGHT HIM HAS FORFEITED, AND SO DOES THE IMPOSTER! BUT FRET NOT EVERYONE, I HAVE A SPICY MATCH COMING UP NEXT.
I GIVE YOU THE SPECTRAL PHANTOM, THE PRINCESS OF THE ELVES, MAYURA SILVERMOON!!! AND AGAINST HER IS THE WHISTLING ARROW, SASHA DURSELY!!!"
However, "I forfeit!" Came Sasha’s calm and measured voice.
"What, why would you forfeit?!" Calum instantly snapped up.
Sasha facepalmed. "In case you haven’t noticed, her ability is pretty similar to that imposter guy, none of my abilities have anyway of reaching her unless I catch her off guard. But that would be a lot of a hassle, so yes, I forfeit."
"It seems these children are hellbent on ruining my mood and show today." The commentator grumbled almost to himself. He could tell that the audience were not very joyful at the moment. Eight matches were supposed to take place today, and three had already forfeited without any action.
"HAH, IN THAT CASE, I’LL CALL OUT THE NEXT MATCH." The commentator sighed as Sasha’s figure disappeared from the platform. "NEXT WE HAVE, THE PHOENIX PRINCESS, ROSE DARKFELL, AGAINST HAROLD WESTDRUM!!
"How long?" Rose muttered standing up. Even though Rose didn’t look at anyone when asking, Anastasia replied.
"Not a single second."
And the next moment, "I forfeit!" The elf named Harold raised his hand in forfeit. He knew there was no way he could ever hope to defeat Rose and seeing others forfeit removed his pride enough to allow him to do the same.
"NOW THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND! I’M FAILING AT GIVING MY AUDIENCE A SHOW!" The commentator said in a not so little voice. "DID SOMEONE HIT YOU ALL WITH A FORFEIT SPELL?!"
When the round of sixteeen began, there were eight humans, two demons, two merfolk, and three elves, which made fifteen, and including the spot Fabian was supposed to occupy, it completed sixteen.
But now, only six humans remained, Rose, Anastasia, Alistair, Aric, Calum, and Damon. Two demons still remained, and two elves still remained after Harold forfeited and was transported out of the pocket realm, and then two Merfolks.
"IF IT WERE UP TO ME, ALL OF YOU WOULD HAVE TO FIGHT FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE BEFORE GETTING THE CHANCE TO FORFEIT!" The commentator said offhandedly. "ANYWAY, THE NEXT MATCH IS BETWEEN PRINCE OF TREMORS, NAMOR STORMBORNE!!! AND AGAINST HIM IS THE MONARCH OF SHADOWS, ARIC TINUBU!!!!"
This time, the two didn’t disappoint the commentator. Both stood up with full intentions of facing each other.
"FINALLY, SOME COMPETENT CHILDREN." The bright light shot from above and fell onto the two participants, transporting them to the ground.
Even the audience back in Nahaar also rejoiced at the chance to finally witness some action.
"Finally, I was getting a lot bored." Damon muttered, adjusting his seat.
"NOW, START!!!"
A thunder clap echoed in the air before the commentator’s voice even finish ringing. Namor was already in front of Aric, punching at the noble’s face with a concentrated shockwave in front of his fist, one that was fully capable of bursting Aric’s head to smithereens, all while with a wide grin splitting his face.
But at the last second, a wall of shadows rose up to intercept the fist. Namor’s fist sank into the shadow wall, but before Aric could use that against him, he detonated the shockwave at the helm of his fist, tearing the shadow wall to nothingness.
The remnant detonation of the shockwave quaked like a thunder across the horizon, blowing Aric backwards thereby creating distance between the two.
"THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT, SOME ACTION FOR THE AUDIENCE!!" The commentator commented.
Meanwhile, Namor didn’t let up even as the force blew Aric backwards. Instead, he clapped both hands towards Aric.
Aric sunk into his own shadow just as the shockwave that shot out from Namor’s clap tore through the space he had been, cracking the earth as multiple fissures tore across the barren land already devastated by previous battles.
In the next moment, Aric reappeared from Namor’s shadow, but Namor was not blind to his arrival. The moment Aric reappeared, Namor swiftly turned behind him, and caught the noble by the neck, but Aric sent a swift kick at his jaw forcing the prince to let go, before his rapier appeared in his hands.
He thrusted the blade towards Namor’s neck. However, the prince merely opened his mouth, and a cracking shockwave was generated right inside his mouth, and shot at Aric.
Aric quickly withdrew his rapier and used the flat side of the blade to tank against the shockwave. But on impact, the shockwave created visible ripples against the blade and for a moment, everything was suspended before Aric was blasted away like a ragdoll.
Aric felt the air knocked out of his lungs, but he didn’t have time to dwell on that because Namor was already before him, throwing another mountain cleaving punch.
Without hesitation, Aric swung his sword at the incoming fist. If it were Calum on the other side, Aric wouldn’t dare to do such a thing, but Namor was no Calum.
Fist met blade in a violent clash of steel and flesh. The ground beneath their feet cracked like spiderwebs in great fissures and exploded upwards as their aura’s bared against each other’s.
Aric was quickly filled in by reality, that even though Namor wasn’t Calum, he was by no means a weaker, if anything, he was stronger.
Dust exploded outwards as Aric’s rapier snapped into multiple fragments, the shrapnel blasting outwards in different directions.
Before Aric could even realize what happened, a fist sunk into his midsection. His entire form seemed to bench over Namor’s arm, before his figure rippled as the force of the punch went through his body, sending him flying backwards at subsonic speeds.
A powerful shockwave burst from Namor’s behind, increasing his speeds to insane levels. He arrived before Aric’s still flying figure almost instantly, his hand drawing backwards for a more devastating punch.
However, his fist met nothing but air as two massive shadows instantly unfurled behind Aric and flapped once, making his body shoot upwards.
Namor looked upwards on instinct, witnessing the sight of shadows all rushing up to wrap around Aric’s body, before the shadows exploded outwards, transforming into a giant shadow that eclipsed the entirety of the merfolk prince’s vision.
But Namor wasn’t fazed one bit. In fact a grin appeared on his face. "The bigger they are the harder they fall." He muttered just as one of Aric’s giant shadow legs stomped towards him.
Namor flickered back more than a kilometer in instant, but that was only barely enough to get him away from the foot of the giant.
But the remnant quake from the ground still sent him rolling on the ground. As Namor slowly skidded to a stop, his grin couldn’t help but widen.
"This just got a lot more interesting." He chuckled.
Aric meanwhile also shared his enthusiasm. Earlier, he couldn’t test the full scope of his invulnerable form due to Dion surrendering pretty quickly, but now, he could do as he wished.
So without any hesitation, Aric raised his giant rapier and swung it at the tiny figure of Namor with all his titanic might.
