The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine
Chapter 291: Secret!
"Miss Jessica, I don’t know or care what your relationship with Zachary was or what you still think about him," Sienna said calmly, her voice firm despite the anger she was holding inside.
"But there’s one thing you need to understand. I won’t tolerate this kind of behavior in the future. I’m not a particularly kind or patient person, so please don’t appear in front of me again with this kind of attitude. If you have something to say, say it respectfully. Otherwise, there’s no reason for us to have another conversation."
Jessica’s expression tightened, but Sienna didn’t give her a chance to interrupt. She had already said everything she wanted to say.
Sienna pushed her chair back and stood. Despite the tension between them, a friendly smile appeared on her lips, making her expression surprisingly calm.
"Miss Jessica," she added, her voice softer now, "you’re welcome to come to our café and restaurant if you want to enjoy our food and drinks. You don’t have to worry about bad service. If you’re here to enjoy our food and drink, you’re a customer, after all. And we like to serve our customers."
Her smile remained polite as she continued, "Alright, because we’re not yet open, you can go now. My bodyguard will escort you outside. Have a good day."
Sienna turned away from Jessica and walked toward the café entrance. As she passed Logan, she stopped briefly and looked at him.
"Please walk our customer outside, Logan."
"Yes, Madam," Logan replied immediately.
He approached Jessica, who was still sitting in silence, and waited for her to stand. Jessica looked as though she wanted to say something else.
Still, Sienna had already lost interest in whatever she had to say. She didn’t bother looking back at her. Instead, she continued walking deeper into the café toward her office, leaving Logan to handle Jessica.
For Sienna, the conversation was over.
She had answered Jessica’s question clearly, and there was nothing more she wanted to discuss.
More importantly, Zachary had made his position clear without even knowing what Jessica had hoped to hear. His affectionate voice, his casual acknowledgment that Sienna was his wife, and the way he had promised to come pick her up had been enough.
Sienna’s lips curved into a small smile as she walked toward her office. Whatever Jessica had expected to find when she came here, it certainly wasn’t the answer she had received.
...
Sienna had just sat down in her chair when another knock came at her office door. She looked toward it, wondering who could be coming in when she had barely had a moment to herself.
"It’s me, Mia."
Before Sienna could answer, the door swung open, and Mia walked in without waiting for permission. The look of shock on her face made it seem as though she had just seen a ghost. Sienna immediately felt concerned.
"What’s wrong?" she asked. "Did something happen outside?"
Instead of answering right away, Mia stepped closer to the desk and looked at Sienna with her curious eyes. "Sienna, was the woman who was here earlier Jessica Simmons?"
Sienna noticed the mixture of curiosity and excitement in Mia’s expression. Her best friend was clearly waiting for confirmation, and judging by the way she looked at her, Sienna knew denying it would only make Mia more suspicious.
A tired smile appeared on Sienna’s lips as she replied, "Hmm, you’re right, Mia. That woman was Jessica Simmons."
Mia gasped and immediately rushed over to stand beside Sienna’s desk. "Wait, wait... Since when have you known a celebrity? Why have I never heard you mention her?"
Sienna leaned back comfortably in her chair and crossed her arms as she thought about whether she should tell Mia the truth or keep it to herself.
She was already tired from dealing with Jessica, and she wasn’t sure she wanted to revisit the whole situation again.
However, Mia was her best friend, and she knew she needed someone to talk to. Whenever she felt angry about something, talking to Mia usually helped her calm down, even if Mia sometimes made things more complicated with her endless questions.
After a few seconds of silence, Sienna decided there was no reason to hide it.
She looked at Mia for a moment before finally revealing, "Well, I didn’t know her personally, but I know she’s my husband’s ex-girlfriend."
Sienna said it casually, but Mia reacted as if Sienna had just dropped a bomb in the middle of the room. Her jaw fell open, and one hand flew to cover her mouth as she stared at Sienna with wide eyes. For several seconds, she didn’t make a sound.
The office fell silent. Completely silent; only an air-conditioning unit could be heard in the corner.
Sienna watched her best friend, waiting for her to process what she had just heard. Mia blinked several times, still staring at her as if she expected Sienna to suddenly laugh and say that she had been joking.
And then—
Mia began pacing around the room. She walked back and forth with a troubled expression, occasionally shaking her head as if she were trying to make sense of the information.
Sienna couldn’t help chuckling as she watched her. She decided to let Mia digest the gossip for a moment because she knew her best friend would probably need some time before the questions started.
After pacing for several seconds, Mia suddenly stopped and narrowed her eyes at Sienna.
"My dearest friend, please tell me you’re joking?"
"You know me well. Do I sound like I was joking?" Sienna asked nonchalantly. "That’s the truth. But, Mia, don’t tell anyone about it, not even Ava and Riley. You must keep this a secret... "
Mia’s expression immediately became even more troubled.
"I’m screwed!" she exclaimed before starting to pace again. This time, she pinched the space between her eyebrows while muttering to herself, "How am I supposed to keep this to myself? Even from Ava? Good Lord! Why did you tell me? It would have been better if you hadn’t told me at all, or told me you were joking."
Sienna stared at her in disbelief for a moment before laughing again. Mia acted as if she had given her the most difficult task of her life instead of simply asking her to keep one secret.
