Chapter 287: I Will Be Waiting

When Maya finally spoke again, her voice was much quieter, almost a whisper.

"I’m so terribly sorry, Sienna. Because of me, you’ve been pulled back into things with Jenny again."

Sienna smiled softly, as if Maya were standing right in front of her instead of speaking to her over the phone.

"That’s exactly why I want you to move here. At the very least, that woman won’t be able to get close to you or your family."

Maya remained quiet for a moment before finally responding.

"But what about your uncle? If we move there, he might lose his job. And the house..." Her voice carried clear hesitation, but beneath it, Sienna could hear a faint sense of hope. Maya clearly wanted to leave, but she was worried about the consequences for her husband and their home.

"Don’t worry about that. I’ll take care of everything. All you have to do is pack your suitcases, and you and your family come to the capital," Sienna said confidently. "You just need to speak with Uncle Jimmy and convince him to move. As for the rest, I’ll make sure everything is provided, from housing and school to finding him a comparable, or even better, job."

Sienna knew her uncle worked at Sterling Bank, and she believed she could ask Zachary to help arrange a transfer to the capital.

Although it might require some effort, she felt it was worth trying to keep Maya and her family separate from Jenny.

"Sienna, I’m willing... But I’m worried we will trouble you again..."

"Aunty, you don’t have to worry about anything else. Just talk to Uncle Jimmy first. Convince him. And if he agrees, I’ll handle the rest."

Maya was silent for a while. When she finally spoke, her voice sounded a little more relieved.

"Sienna, I’ll speak to your uncle and let you know right away."

"All right. I’ll be waiting, Auntie."

A smile slowly appeared on Sienna’s lips as she ended the call. Although she hadn’t expected Jenny to drag her back into the Adams family’s problems, at least there was something she could do for Maya.

She didn’t want to see her aunt living in fear because of Jenny.

If moving to the capital could give Maya and her family a safer and more peaceful life, she was willing to help make it happen.

After hanging up with Maya, silence settled over the office again.

Sienna placed her phone on the desk and took a moment to gather her thoughts before returning to work. She still had plenty to do before the grand opening, and she did not want her personal problems to interfere with the business.

For the rest of the morning, she focused on making sure everything was ready.

She checked the menu, reviewed the staff assignments, ensured everyone had been properly briefed, confirmed the advertisements had been finalized, and verified the invitations for the special guests had been sent out. There were still a few small details that needed her attention, but overall, everything was moving according to plan.

It wasn’t until lunchtime that Sienna finally felt she could breathe. She pushed her chair back and stood, stretching her arms before walking toward the window.

From there, she could see the beautiful backyard behind the building. The trees moved gently in the breeze, and the quiet view helped ease some of the tension that had built up in her mind throughout the morning.

Sienna remained there for a few minutes, simply enjoying the peaceful scenery and relaxing.

She had been thinking about too many things lately, from the restaurant and its upcoming opening to Maya’s situation and Jenny’s sudden appearance in her life again. For now, she wanted to set it all aside and enjoy the quiet moment.

However—

A knock at the door soon interrupted her thoughts.

She turned toward the window and said softly, "Yes, come in."

Sienna expected to see Mia when the door opened, but she was surprised to find a café staff member instead. The young woman approached her with a slightly uncertain expression.

"Excuse me, Ms. Sienna..." the staff member said carefully. "Two people have just arrived here, and they are looking for you."

Sienna frowned. She hadn’t arranged to meet anyone that day, and The Secret Garden wasn’t even open to the public yet.

"Did they tell you who they are?"

The staff member hesitated before answering. "The man said his name is Jacky Gray. There’s also a woman with him, but she hasn’t said anything. I couldn’t recognize her because she’s wearing large sunglasses and a hat."

Sienna’s frown deepened.

"Did they tell you why they wanted to see me? If it’s related to The Secret Garden, you can ask Mia if she can meet them."

The staff member quickly shook her head. "I’m sorry, Ms. Sienna, but the man insisted that it was an important matter and that they specifically needed to meet you."

That answer only confused Sienna more.

She didn’t know anyone named Jacky Gray, and the woman accompanying him sounded even more suspicious.

What confused her most, however, was how two strangers had managed to come to The Secret Garden when the place wasn’t open to the public yet. They shouldn’t have had any reason to know she was there unless someone had deliberately directed them to the café.

Sienna’s thoughts immediately began running through the possibilities. Her expression became more serious as she considered whether the visit could somehow be connected to what had happened earlier with Maya and Jenny.

’Is this related to the Black Scorpion gang?’ The thought unsettled her.

Sienna had spoken to Jenny only a few hours earlier, and Jenny had already shown how wicked she was.

Still, she didn’t want to frighten her employees by showing too much concern. After a moment, she pushed the questions aside and turned to the staff member with a calm smile.

"Ask them to wait in the café. I’ll meet them soon."

"Right away, Ms. Sienna..."

The staff member nodded and left the office.
