The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1410 - 1350: Abdication
"Why?" Randall couldn’t fathom Kiya’s intentions at all.
Unlike the old, indecisive Sultan, Kiya had remarkable achievements and a good reputation, and he managed Abyanabad in an orderly manner. Randall couldn’t figure out why Kiya suddenly wanted to abdicate.
"Reasons that are hard to speak of."
With his mother and wife at such odds and the scandal behind it all unspeakable, Kiya naturally had no face to reveal those things he had deliberately hidden.
"Do you really intend to abdicate?" Randall still couldn’t believe it.
The Sultan’s position is too tempting, too many people covet it, yet the man before him said he didn’t want to be Sultan anymore. How could Randall not doubt it?
What exactly does this man want to do?
"How could I joke about such a thing?" Kiya looked at Randall, saying seriously, "It’s true! I want to abdicate, and I hope you can succeed as Sultan."
"Why me?" Randall realized Kiya was serious and not joking at all, and Kiya didn’t know about that matter.
"Because I can’t find anyone else. Abyanabad’s royal family doesn’t have many heirs; aside from you, no one has royal blood.
I even had someone investigate you, and you meet all the criteria very well. I think you are fully capable of handling the work of a Sultan."
"..."
"Randall, I hope you can take on the role of Sultan."
Kiya looked at Randall with high expectations. If he entrusted Abyanabad to this man, he could leave with peace of mind.
Randall didn’t immediately agree, nor did he refuse, which gave Kiya hope. Kiya truly wished for this man to become Sultan.
"Such a matter needs careful consideration. I’ll give you a few days; think it over thoroughly, and call me when you decide."
Kiya picked up the pen and paper on the table and wrote down his phone number.
Randall said, "Can you tell me why you want to abdicate?"
Randall kept pressing for reasons, and Kiya thought it best to tell Randall, so he said, "My wife doesn’t want to live in Abyanabad, and I don’t want to be apart from her, so I plan to abdicate."
"For the sake of a woman?"
Kiya looked up to see Randall’s incredulous face, and Kiya smiled, "Truly, I’m not lying to you."
"I didn’t expect our Sultan to be such a romantic." Randall said with a hint of sarcasm.
Kiya said, "Life is about choices, and I believe my wife is more important than being Sultan."
"..."
"When you fall in love with a woman, you’ll understand my feelings."
Randall responded, "I think I’ll never understand you."
Kiya didn’t want to dwell too much on his wife with any man, so he changed the topic, got up, and asked, "How soon can you decide?"
Randall stood up as well and asked, "Are you really not going to regret it?"
"No regrets!" Kiya declared firmly.
"Alright then, I can give you a reply now, I’m willing to be Sultan!" Randall gave Kiya an answer.
Kiya looked at him, smiling, "Being Sultan isn’t as hard as it seems. I’ll guide you for a while, and you’ll quickly adapt to the identity of a Sultan."
Randall said, "If I become Sultan, it will be too late for you to regret. Because I won’t give the Sultan’s seat back to you."
"I won’t regret it! I want to return to my wife and children now."
Ella is too young, growing every day, and Kiya doesn’t want to miss it; and then there’s his beautiful wife, he’s afraid that leaving for too long will lead those men to pursue Paige Desmond, he’s afraid Paige will fall for someone else.
Paige is disheartened with him, utterly disgusted; it’s not impossible for her to fall for another man.
Before such things happen, Kiya must cut off all possibilities.
...
Kiya decisively abdicated, using his ill health as a reason, transferring the throne to Randall.
The position of Sultan isn’t elected, but inherited. So, even though there was opposition to Kiya’s abdication, it couldn’t be stopped.
Gavin and Gary, two brothers, seeing Kiya happily abdicate, didn’t even try to persuade him.
Because they were moving to Orienta for good, Kiya packed everything Paige and the kids frequently used, making it clear they wouldn’t return anytime soon.
Leaving early tomorrow morning, Kiya looked at Gavin and Gary, who had accompanied him for many years. Kiya trusted them very much.
"What are your plans?" Kiya asked.
Gavin said, "We’re the close aides of the Sultan, naturally we should stay by the Sultan’s side."
"I’m not the Sultan anymore."
Gavin said, "In our hearts, you’ll always be the Sultan."
Kiya made plans for them, "Staying here offers more prospects than going to Sileria City with me. I’ll arrange everything for you, so don’t follow me to Sileria City."
He wasn’t Sultan anymore and didn’t need any bodyguards. From now on, he would just be an ordinary person.
Gavin and Gary were resolute, firmly stating, "We swear to follow Your Majesty the Sultan to the death."
Kiya looked at them and said, "Since you insist, then come with me to Sileria City."
"Yes, Sultan."
...
Sileria City,
In the winter, past four in the night, the darkness was as deep as ink. Paige Desmond slept soundly, even dreaming a sweet dream.
In her dream, she was still in her girlhood.
She rode a beautiful horse, galloping, able to hear her laughter, so happy. Paige recalled sadly that she hadn’t laughed like that in years...
Suddenly, a lion appeared ahead. Her horse, startled, threw her off, and the lion pounced towards her.
"Ah..." she screamed, waking up to find a man pressing down on her.
"You..."
"It’s me," Kiya said.
Paige, startled into a cold sweat, asked, "How did you get in?"
"..."
"No, why are you here in the middle of the night in Sileria City?"
Kiya’s hand slipped into her pajamas, urgently kissing her, eager to merge with her.
"Kiya, what’s happened? Why did you come suddenly?"
Kiya said, "I’m no longer the Sultan."
Paige frowned, asking, "Kiya, what trick are you trying to pull?"
"I passed the Sultan’s title on to a cousin, I’m no longer a Sultan now."
In the darkness, they couldn’t see each other’s faces, only hearing one another’s familiar voices.
"I won’t go back to Abyanabad with you!"
Paige didn’t trust the man. Last time, he had done the same, gaining her trust, then caught her off guard and took Ella, forcing her back to Abyanabad.
Paige suspected he had ulterior motives.
"We’re not going back; we’ll just live here."
