The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1409 - 1349: Searching for an Heir
"Because... because... because..."
The Queen Mother repeated "because" three times but did not finish her sentence.
Kiya, with tears in his eyes, said, "Mother, I’m tired, I’m tired... I can’t hold on anymore."
The Queen Mother looked at her son’s desolate state, her heart a little panicked. She stammered, "You, what are you saying?"
Kiya said, "I imprisoned you here, and you think I’ve mistreated you, committed an unforgivable act, and you’re disappointed and angry at me;
while Paige Desmond thinks this isn’t even a punishment, she is equally disappointed and angry with me.
All these years, I’ve been caught between you both, and it’s really exhausting."
"..."
"Mother, just spend your remaining years here in peace. Everything you deserve, I will provide, as long as you don’t leave this place!"
The Queen Mother chuckled, "I gave everything for you, and this is how you repay me!"
"..."
"I am the Queen Mother of Abyanabad, the Queen Mother of Abyanabad. You imprisoned me here, stripped me of my noble status, stripped me of my glory, making me live like a prisoner. Kiya, everything I once enjoyed, you took it all away!"
"..."
"How am I any different from someone thrown into prison?"
"Take care, Queen Mother!" Kiya no longer called her ’mother’ but addressed her as "Queen Mother," gave her one last look, and then turned to push the door open and left.
"Kiya, get out! I don’t want to see you, you ungrateful child!"
The Queen Mother grabbed something and threw it at Kiya. His back hurt slightly, his steps paused for a few seconds, and then he left without looking back.
Before leaving, Gavin instructed the bodyguards to watch over the Queen Mother and not let her escape, then hurried after Kiya.
Gavin heard all those words and thought the Queen Mother had gone mad, and so had the Sultan since the Sultan said he didn’t want to be Sultan anymore.
Once in the car, Gavin asked, "Sultan, are you alright? Do you need to see a doctor?"
"I’m fine!" Kiya replied coldly.
Seeing Kiya’s distant demeanor, Gavin didn’t dare to say much. The car was filled with a heavy atmosphere, and Gary drove furiously, wishing they could fly straight into the Imperial Palace.
This atmosphere was too torturous.
...
The night was heavy, with a tinge of heat, not like Sileria City where the cold wind felt like knives cutting the skin.
Kiya had made up his mind to abdicate. But abdicating wasn’t that simple.
He couldn’t just walk away without doing anything. Before abdicating, Kiya had to find someone to take his place.
Who to choose?
This was a troubling issue.
The Abyanabad Royal Family had few heirs; Kiya was an only son and had only one son, Dylan.
In the previous generation, Kiya’s father had a brother, but he died young;
Going back another generation, his grandfather had a brother, who had a grandson named Randall.
Kiya’s gaze fell on Randall’s photo.
At first glance, Randall and he looked somewhat alike; after all, they shared the same ancestral blood, which didn’t seem strange to Kiya.
"Abyanabad University Law Master’s graduate, 28 years old, occupation: lawyer..."
Kiya continued reading, and Randall had a good reputation, with high praise from everyone who knew him.
Kiya set his sights on this man and hoped he would become "Sultan," although he didn’t know if Randall would want to be Sultan.
Impatient to return to Sileria City to watch fireworks with his son, once Kiya had fixed his target, he visited the next day.
Randall had opened a law firm, which was quite large.
Kiya changed out of his official attire but was recognized immediately. He had always maintained a friendly image, poised and courteous, but this time Kiya wore a stern expression. When people greeted him, he only nodded before following Randall’s secretary into the reception room.
Though Kiya kept a serious face throughout, different from his TV persona, people were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the Sultan’s style.
No one worked; they crowded outside the reception room, planning to catch another glimpse when the Sultan left.
Randall came out to find his employees not working.
"What’s going on? Why isn’t anyone working?"
"Boss, His Majesty the Sultan is here." The usually calm secretary’s voice was now filled with excitement.
"His Majesty the Sultan?"
Randall had met Kiya a few times as a child, but they weren’t close and couldn’t play together.
Kiya was always studying diligently, constantly corrected to stand up straight, while Randall was at an age of mischief and avoided such people.
"What’s he here for? To file a lawsuit?"
The secretary said, "Of course not, Sultan is the law!"
Abyanabad’s royal powers were not like Brevon’s, where they were voided. The Abyanabad Sultan had real power, serving as both Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Finance, as well as the leader of Abyanabad’s official religion, Islam.
To the people of Abyanabad and Islamic followers, Kiya was like a "god."
Who would dare sue the Sultan?
Randall guessed Kiya’s intentions and walked into the reception room under everyone’s gaze.
Upon seeing Randall, Kiya nodded slightly to greet him.
"Your Majesty the Sultan!" Randall saluted as Kiya gestured for him to sit.
Randall sat across from Kiya and noticed Kiya sizing him up, so he cleared his throat to hide his embarrassment.
"Your Majesty the Sultan, may I know what brings you here?"
"We are cousins; just call me Kiya," Kiya said.
Randall didn’t refuse and greeted, "Hello, Kiya."
Kiya observed Randall and noticed their resemblance, smiling, "When I saw the photo, I thought we looked alike, but seeing you in person, we look even more similar."
Randall raised his head, gazing at the regal Kiya, and said meaningfully, "Because the same blood flows within us."
"Yes, your grandfather and my grandfather were brothers, so of course, the same blood flows within us."
Randall knew Kiya had a purpose in seeking him out. He harbored a great secret in his heart, feeling uneasy as to whether Kiya had discovered the huge secret and sought him for that.
"Kiya, if I may ask, what is the purpose of your visit?" Randall asked calmly.
Although anxious, he showed no signs of it.
"Randall, I ask you to succeed me as the Sultan of Abyanabad."
Randall’s expression changed dramatically, as if struck by lightning... Could it be this man knew that matter?
