The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1399 - 1339: You’re Not Allowed to Break the Law
Graham Robertson looked at Sienna Johnson. Sienna looked more like Pauline Briggs, but their temperaments were completely different. Sienna appeared fragile outwardly but was strong inside, and her gaze was filled with determination and confidence.
"Dexter Johnson has a daughter like you; no regrets," Graham Robertson said.
"I’ve always been striving to become a daughter that makes Dad proud."
Barely a few words were exchanged before someone came over to network with Graham Robertson. It seemed that there were quite a few contenders for the position of President, and Sienna was equally determined to get it.
The banquet was nearing its end, and Sienna said goodbye to a few familiar friends as the family departed.
Paige Desmond and James Winslow left, while Sienna and Adrian Desmond took a car home.
In the car, Sienna slowly wiped off her lipstick with a tissue, leaving a lip-shaped mark on the white paper.
"Don’t you have something you want to say to me?" Sienna spoke.
"What do you want to ask?"
"What’s the deal with Elsa White?"
"Don’t you trust me?"
"Of course, I trust you. I just want to know how you got entangled with someone like Elsa White."
Adrian Desmond said, "Didn’t I already tell you? I was smoking in the corridor when that woman came on to me, inviting me for a room. I just directed Fat Penguin her way."
"..."
"How was I to know who she was? I even thought she was a prostitute... Are you Orienta women all so open?"
A good woman wouldn’t casually go to a room with a man, especially since they hadn’t even exchanged many words before that woman made a move. Adrian Desmond had no fondness for such a woman.
"A few days ago, I attended a dinner party where a friend returning from Westoria mentioned that Elsa White’s behavior in Westoria was particularly loose...
Stay away from that kind of woman; she might bring trouble for you," Sienna warned.
"Alright."
Sienna held Adrian’s hand; hers was slightly cold, yet Adrian’s was warm, and Sienna could feel the heat from his hand spreading up her arm.
Adrian stretched out his arm and pulled her into his arms, kissing her hair, asking, "Do you really want to be President?"
"Yes."
"Then go for it," Adrian agreed.
Sienna knew his thoughts; he didn’t want her to be out in the limelight. However, Sienna had deep feelings for her father. With Dexter dead tragically, Sienna, as Dexter’s daughter, wanted to help Dexter fulfill his wishes before passing.
She previously lacked the capability, but now she was empowered; Sienna didn’t want to give up.
"My dad never had a son, and he was laughed at all his life... I just want everyone to know that even with a daughter and no son, my dad is still better than others."
"Alright, Mrs. Desmond, you are the greatest."
Sienna leaned into his chest, saying, "...The President of the Medical Association has always been a man; no woman has ever held the position. My chances are actually slim, and perhaps in the end, even if I want to, I might not get it."
Adrian confidently said, "If you want it, naturally I have ways to make you President."
Sienna suddenly sat up, her head hitting Adrian’s chin, "Adrian, I’m warning you, you’re not allowed to use illegal means to get me the presidency! I’d rather not become President than have you break the law."
"Ouch!"
"Did you hear me?"
"I talked to Fat Penguin today; do you know what he said to me?" Adrian was touching his chin, which was freshly shaved in the morning, making it very smooth.
"Don’t call him Fat Penguin; his name is Justin Harris, President Davis."
"..."
"What did President Davis say?"
"He said, ’Money can even make the devil push the millstone!’"
"..."
"Since you want to mix in that circle, don’t be too naive. Everyone is engaging in dubious dealings; if you’re too upright, you’ll be eliminated."
Sienna wasn’t that naive; she certainly knew that during elections, there would be a lot of behind-the-scenes dealings.
"I know, but you can’t use force to intimidate others... Those candidates are my peers; we all cross paths frequently. I still need to stay in this circle. If you offend them, and they unite against me, I’d be very disadvantaged."
"Alright, I understand."
"Are you hungry? When we get back, I’ll make you crab roe buns, okay?" Sienna suddenly craved crab roe buns.
"It’s very late."
"Mom made crab roe buns this morning and left some filling in the fridge; it’s not that troublesome, it’ll be ready in half an hour."
At the banquet, neither of them ate much, and now their stomachs were growling.
"Alright, then make more."
"Let’s just eat a little; eating too much might cause indigestion while sleeping."
Adrian jokingly said, "Then a nighttime ’exercise’ will do the trick."
Sienna pinched the meat on his waist, "If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll sew your mouth shut with a needle when we get back."
"Mrs. Desmond, what are you thinking? After eating a lot, we can go for a walk, can’t we?"
"..."
"Or..." Adrian whispered teasingly in her ear, "Do you want me to..."
Adrian’s waist was all muscle, she couldn’t pinch it, so Sienna aimed at his most vulnerable spot and struck hard.
Adrian winced from Sienna’s ruthless move, gritting his teeth in pain, "It’s so painful, let go!"
"Are you still talking nonsense?"
Adrian grabbed her wrist, not daring to exert force for fear of hurting her, only able to coax gently, "I won’t talk nonsense anymore, let go..."
"..."
"Not doing you, but reproducing with you... Is that better?"
This woman really knew how to use force, and Adrian was genuinely hurting, "Damn it!"
He had said so many pleas but this woman still wouldn’t let go, so Adrian decided to leap at her on the seat to properly punish her.
...
Glazed Ceramics Store,
This shop was opened by James Winslow, considered a sideline, with a young girl hired to oversee it.
Due to its location in the Old Town District and deep within the alleyways, business wasn’t particularly good.
On the shelves were various uniquely-shaped porcelain pieces, glowing with a warm light under the yellow light, resembling jade.
Paige Desmond held them lovingly, "Secretary Winslow, did you make all these?"
"Yes."
James Winslow took off his coat, revealing a gray shirt, unbuttoned his shirt sleeves, donned a black apron, and started making pottery.
Mud kneading, mud stacking, wheel throwing... Paige Desmond watched with great interest.
"Secretary Winslow, you are incredible."
Paige Desmond had an expression of admiration as she looked at James Winslow; she truly didn’t expect to meet someone who could make pottery and also make such beautiful porcelain pieces.
Paige Desmond loved Orienta’s porcelain; during college, she even specifically went outside to learn pottery.
"...What are you making there?"
"A customer requested a Guanyin Porcelain Vase."
At tonight’s banquet, during their conversation, Paige Desmond learned that James Winslow had opened a porcelain shop. Seeing the porcelain photos on his phone made Paige’s heart itch, compelling her to insist on visiting his shop.
Upon reaching James Winslow’s store and seeing his handcrafted beautiful porcelain works, Paige Desmond felt it was worth the trip.
