Chapter 1349 - 1289: Timid Little Sister

Sienna Johnson watched Claire carefully, afraid she’d put it in her mouth and get something stuck in her throat.

She’d heard stories from her friends in the Pediatrics Department about many babies choking and suffocating.

Children are very fragile.

It requires countless efforts from parents to ensure they grow up healthy.

"Mom, when is dad coming home?" Curly asked.

"Do you miss him?"

"Of course I do. He has lots of flaws, but he’s still my dad."

"Your dad treats you so well, yet you say such things about him? Is that fair to him?"

"My dad is nice to you; his love for me is just because of you. Because he loves you, he loves me too."

Sometimes, Curly’s words leave Sienna Johnson unsure how to respond.

"Sure, it’s because he loves me that he loves you. Without his love for me, there wouldn’t be you!"

"That’s true, I’m the result of your love."

"Yes, you and your siblings are all the result of your parents’ love."

Sienna Johnson picked a rapeseed flower and put it in Curly’s hair, Curly made a face of disdain, took it out, and put it on Claire’s head.

Claire’s hair is straight and silky, so it doesn’t hold.

"Mom, why do I and Sheehan have curly hair while the twins have straight hair? Are you sure you didn’t mix us up?"

Sienna Johnson glared at her daughter, scolding, "You can’t say such things. How could your sister be mixed up?"

"I’m not saying nonsense; how is it impossible to be mixed up? Didn’t you mix things up before?"

"..."

"Grandma is so silly, how could she mix up her own children?"

Sienna Johnson jokingly said, "The twins definitely weren’t mixed up, but who knows if you were?

Your dad and I both have straight hair. Who knows if you, this curly-haired little thing, got switched?"

"..."

"Your personality doesn’t resemble mine or your dad’s, maybe you really were mixed up."

Curly pouted sadly, "Hmph! I wasn’t mixed up! Dad looks so much like me; when we go out, everyone knows he’s my dad. How could there be a mix-up?"

"Dad looks like you? You really have courage saying that." Sienna Johnson pinched her nose gently.

"He does look like me..."

"Without your dad, there wouldn’t be you. You resemble your dad more."

"Mom, you’re always nitpicking over words; didn’t what I just say mean the same thing?"

"..."

"Mom, if you keep being like this, no one will like you anymore."

"Who says? I still like it."

Adrian Desmond’s voice suddenly sounded, and when Sienna Johnson turned her head, she saw a man in a dark trench coat, his height accentuated as he stood while she squatted.

This is a man like a mountain, a person for Sienna Johnson to lean on.

"Dad!" Before Sienna Johnson could react, Curly dashed over. Adrian Desmond picked her up, asking, "Who said you could bully my wife? Hmm?"

"Hey, your wife isn’t made of mud; she’s not that fragile." Curly laughed playfully.

"Jayce Johnson, I’m warning you, don’t bully my wife in the future. My wife grew up without a mom’s love; she’s very pitiful."

Curly frowned, looking at the man holding her with disdain, "Got it, got it, Mr. Henpecked."

"You little rascal." Adrian Desmond kissed her forehead, eyes full of doting care.

Curly hadn’t seen her father in a while and missed him a lot, hugging Adrian Desmond’s neck, acting sweetly, "Dad, I missed you! Why did you leave for so long?"

"But I’m back now, aren’t I?"

Sienna Johnson walked over with her little daughter, looking softly at Adrian Desmond, and asked gently, "Weren’t you supposed to be back in a month at the earliest? Why did you suddenly come back? Is everything sorted in Abyanabad?"

"Someone said she missed me, couldn’t sleep, so I came back." Adrian Desmond winked at her.

Sienna Johnson blushed, glancing at her daughter, teasingly said, "The kids are here, don’t talk nonsense."

Adrian Desmond looked at his little daughter, who resembled Sienna Johnson, especially in her eyes. Sienna Johnson always has traces of melancholy in her eyes, while Claire’s gaze is clearer and brighter, like an undeveloped lake.

Adrian Desmond put Curly down and reached out to hold Claire, "Claire, did you miss Dad? Dad really missed you."

Claire didn’t remember Adrian Desmond, treating him as a stranger. Seeing a stranger wanting to hold her, she burrowed her head into Sienna Johnson’s embrace, as if this could keep her safe.

"What’s wrong with the child?" Adrian Desmond frowned. His daughter’s reaction hurt as a father.

"She must have forgotten you."

"I’m her dad, how could she forget me?"

"She’s so young, forgetting you is normal."

Sienna Johnson cuddled her daughter, speaking gently to comfort the sensitive child,

"Claire, this is Dad. Don’t you remember Dad? When you were little, Dad often played with you, bathed you, changed your diapers..."

Claire lifted her head, smiling at her mother, an instant later saw Adrian Desmond, and once again buried her face in Sienna Johnson’s soft embrace like an ostrich hiding in sand.

Sienna Johnson sighed, "Never mind, now you’re back, spend more time with her. After a while, she’ll grow fond of you."

"Sure." Adrian Desmond looked at Claire, momentarily thinking of Kevin Taylor, that stinky kid. Now that he’s free, that kid bullied his daughter, and Adrian still hasn’t settled the score.

His daughter dared to be stolen; does Kevin think Adrian is dead?

Claire lifted her head and saw Adrian Desmond’s fierce gaze, frightened, she burst into tears.

"Claire, what’s wrong now?" Seeing her young daughter truly scared of Adrian, Sienna Johnson decided to take her away.

"Claire, look, what’s this?" Sienna Johnson diverted her daughter’s attention.

Since no pesticides are used, vegetables inevitably have bugs. Outside is a cold winter, while the greenhouse is warm, so some vegetables are infested.

A green worm was munching on a cabbage; Claire saw it and cried again.

Curly shrugged, "Why is she so timid, scared of even a worm? Doesn’t seem like my sister, Jayce Johnson’s sister!"

Curly walked over, picking up the worm, holding it by the head, the worm squirming its pudgy body, and Sienna Johnson felt her skin crawl.

"Curly, throw it away, quickly."

"Mom, are you scared of worms too?" Curly suddenly brought the worm close to Sienna Johnson’s face, making her fall back helplessly, landing on the ground.

"Curly! You rascal..."
