The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1348 - 1288: Sabrina Johnson’s Plan
Sienna Johnson was just about to pick up her troublemaking son when Lucas Robertson came over.
"Madam, I’ve found out."
Lucas glanced at Kiki beside him, who didn’t even look at him, causing displeasure. He had only been away for a while and already missed her and their daughter, yet this woman seemed completely indifferent to him.
"Go ahead." There was no need to avoid discussing Sabrina Johnson’s matter.
"Sabrina Johnson had a son, who stayed with her in prison. Now that the child has grown older, the prison won’t allow him to stay anymore. Sabrina wants your mother to adopt the child..."
Sienna Johnson was completely taken aback that Sabrina would approach Pauline Briggs with such a request.
Thinking of her unreliable mother, Sienna couldn’t help but worry. She didn’t want any further involvement with Sabrina.
Their family feud with Sabrina was deep-seated; raising her child would be like nurturing a viper.
"What did my mom say?"
"She refused! Your mother even asked your Uncle to help deal with Sabrina’s matter.
Your Uncle knows the Prison Warden of Sileria City’s North District Prison. He asked the warden to give Sabrina ’special’ attention.
Now Sabrina is in solitary confinement and is no longer allowed to make her weekly calls; she shouldn’t be able to harass your mother anymore."
Sienna raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "When did my mom become so clever?"
If Pauline Briggs had insisted on adopting the child, Sienna would indeed have a headache. She was the one who put Sabrina in prison; that child would surely hate her.
What was Sabrina thinking? Having Pauline raise her son, did she ever consider the child’s feelings?
If the child knew he was raised by the Johnson Family, who caused his mother’s imprisonment, what would he think?
Kiki said angrily, "How can there be such a woman in the world, how does she have the nerve to make such a request?"
Sienna sneered, "Sabrina knows my mom has a soft nature and wanted to bully her. But the times have changed..."
No matter how kind Pauline is, she won’t forgive Sabrina for killing Dexter Johnson, whom she was so close to.
"Auntie Briggs is soft-hearted. What if she’s deceived by Sabrina again?" Kiki worried.
"That’s not a concern."
Even if Pauline agreed, Sienna would not.
She’s already being gracious by not kicking Sabrina’s child while they’re down. How could she possibly bring Sabrina’s son home to raise him?
Letting the child constantly remind her of Sabrina’s past harm to her, Sabrina killing her respected father...
"Sally..."
"Yes, Madam."
"Have someone keep an eye on my mom. Don’t let her do anything." Given Pauline’s nature, Sienna still didn’t trust her.
"Understood."
Kiki asked, "Why wouldn’t Sabrina give the child to his father?"
Lucas explained, "The child’s father passed away. The child’s siblings fear him sharing the inheritance and refused to acknowledge him."
"How did he die?"
"Old age, natural causes."
Kiki couldn’t believe what she heard and looked at Lucas, "Sabrina’s man was an old man?"
"Yes, he could have been Sabrina’s grandfather."
Lucas watched Kiki’s bewildered expression, which was adorable. If there weren’t so many people around, he really wanted to kiss her.
"Who was the child’s father?"
"He used to be the Deputy Mayor in Sileria City, surname Lincoln..."
Sienna remembered Deputy Mayor Lincoln, who had helped Sabrina considerably when she was on trial and almost got her acquitted.
"Deputy Mayor Lincoln was quite interesting..." Sienna laughed.
Kiki had no affection for such men. Although Abyanabad allowed polygamy due to its small population, it prohibited old men from marrying younger women to encourage childbirth.
Kiki said, "That Deputy Mayor Lincoln was clearly no good, being that old and marrying such a young woman."
"None of them were any good."
"Right, none of them! If Sabrina were a good woman, she wouldn’t have been involved with such an older man." Kiki chimed in.
Sienna looked at her three children and slowly began to tell them what she knew about Deputy Mayor Lincoln.
"...That Deputy Mayor Lincoln was quite pitiful; after he died and before he was even buried, his three children locked a room each to grab the inheritance."
Though no one should speak ill of the dead, the siblings quarreled over the inheritance before their father was even buried.
"And then what?"
Claire was getting sleepy and yawned, ready to sleep. Sienna laid her down, covered her with a thin coat, and Claire closed her eyes.
"Then... the anti-corruption task force came and confiscated everything Deputy Mayor Lincoln had embezzled, and his three children were implicated..."
"Evil will be punished!"
Sienna smiled, saying nothing.
"Daddy." Dominic saw his father return, left Sheehan, and came over to hug Lucas’s leg.
Lucas picked up his son and, looking at the cute and rosy-cheeked child, smiled with crescent eyes, "Are you hungry? Daddy will take you to eat something good later, okay?"
"KFC..." referring to KFC.
Lucas had secretly taken Dominic and Sheehan to KFC once, and for the next few days, the two were not eating well, which caused Kiki to give Lucas disapproving looks.
"Baby, you can’t eat that; it’s not good for your body."
"Daddy, KFC..." Dominic pouted and pleaded with his father, but Lucas couldn’t promise in front of Kiki. Winking at his son, he said, "Let’s go home and ask Mommy to make us roast chicken wings, okay?"
Sienna said, "I also want some. After picking Curly up from school, let’s go to Cloudscape Mansion for a BBQ."
"Auntie, I want roasted chicken wings."
"Alright."
...
Cloudscape Mansion,
Sienna hadn’t been here for a long time, and even though it was winter, there were greenhouse vegetables with a lot of green, leafy vegetables.
In this harsh winter, it was particularly delightful.
Sienna took pictures and sent them to Adrian Desmond, but he hadn’t replied.
Curly was carrying a small basket, picking tomatoes, seriously choosing one by one.
"Mom, let’s make tomato egg soup later, okay?" Curly asked.
"Sure, and we can make sugared tomatoes too."
"I like that."
Claire liked the red fruits too, grabbing at them with her little hands. Sienna held her tiny hand, and with a pull, the little tomatoes came off.
"Claire, you can’t eat them like this. If you want, Mommy will mash them when we get home."
