The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1350 - 1290: Daddy’s Home
Sienna Johnson is afraid of all bugs that are hairless and have numerous legs. Seeing them from afar is fine, but touching them makes Sienna panic.
"Curly, you little rascal!" Sienna fumed.
"Mom, I finally understand why my little sister is so timid. Turns out she inherited it from you! Haha... Mom, both you and Claire were hilarious—one crying loudly after being scared by bugs, and the other plopping down on the ground..."
Adrian Desmond walked over with big strides, helped Sienna up, dusted off her clothes, and asked, "Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself from the fall?"
"No, I’m fine." Sienna looked at her daughter and, seeing she was unharmed, felt relieved.
Adrian glanced at the mischievous Curly, took the bug from her hand, and stepped on it. "If you keep being naughty, I won’t give you the diamonds I brought back this time."
"Dad, all you ever give are diamonds. Can’t you think of something new?" Curly said disdainfully.
Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Do you not like diamonds anymore?"
"Nope, I have plenty already. I’d be more impressed if you gave me a pebble."
Adrian said to Sienna, "Look at her..."
"If you don’t like them, then we’ll give the diamonds to Claire. Claire doesn’t have any yet," Sienna said.
"Mom, aren’t you worried Claire might swallow them... She’s putting everything in her mouth these days. Last time, I saw her chewing on her toes. Ugh... doesn’t she mind the smell..."
"I’ll keep them for her and give them to her when she grows up." Sienna looked at her daughter and said, "You did the same thing when you were little, chewing on your toes like your sister."
"I don’t believe it! I would never do such a thing."
Adrian said, "Since you like catching bugs so much, why not clean out the bugs from this vegetable patch?"
"Ah..."
"Ah what..."
"I don’t want to."
"Fine, if you don’t, I won’t take you horseback riding tomorrow. I’ve brought over that chestnut horse you like, and it runs really fast..." Adrian said deliberately.
"Is it that Brevon Thoroughbred you showed me last time?" Curly looked at her father with bright eyes.
"Yes."
"I want to ride! I want to ride!"
The Thoroughbred originates from Brevon and is known as Brevon Thoroughbred. It’s the fastest horse breed in the world and one of the most prestigious.
The Thoroughbred has a strict registry to ensure its quality and purity.
Every foal must have their parents’ bloodline and ancestry registered. Adrian’s little horse here is just two years old. A friend of Adrian brought it from Brevon for him, and it’s been raised in Abyanabad. This time, Adrian brought it along.
"Dad, I’m off to catch bugs." Curly grabbed a small basket and walked into the vegetable patch, plucking bugs off each leaf.
Sienna looked at the large green caterpillars in the basket, which squirmed around, making her skin crawl. Holding Claire, she walked away.
...
For dinner, Adrian personally slaughtered a sheep, swiftly and skillfully cleaning it up.
So, they had a whole lamb feast for dinner.
Pauline Briggs was the head chef, with Sienna and Samara Johnson, as well as Paige Desmond and Kiki helping out as assistants.
The whole lamb feast was prepared using various cooking methods according to the different muscle groups of the lamb’s carcass, creating dishes with varying colors, shapes, flavors, and aromas, each given auspicious names.
Though it’s called a whole lamb feast, there are no lamb-related names, only ones like Dragon Gate Corner, Picking Lingzhi, Twin Phoenix Jade...
"Grandma, you’re amazing, it smells so good," Curly said, giving a thumbs up in praise.
"Eat as much as you like. If you want more, Grandma will make it for you next time."
"But that’ll tire you out, Grandma. Just make it occasionally to satisfy Curly’s cravings. Grandma, you eat too." Curly made Pauline smile broadly.
Sienna fed the twins lamb soup.
Lamb soup is nourishing, and both children loved drinking it. Hugo wanted to eat meat too, but Sienna wasn’t bold enough to let him. Instead, she soaked some bread in the soup and fed him a bit.
"Let the Nanny feed her, you eat your meal before it gets cold," Adrian said.
"No need." Sienna had been spending time with the kids these days, taking over their care from the Servant.
Claire was full and stopped eating.
Adrian then took Hugo and fed him lamb soup, allowing Sienna to eat her meal.
"It’s snowing," Paige suddenly said.
Sienna turned her head to look out the window and indeed noticed it was snowing, with large, fluffy snowflakes falling.
Sienna used to fear winter the most.
Because winter brought the most important holiday in Orienta—Spring Festival.
Spring Festival is a time for family reunions, but Sienna was all alone, making the festive occasion seem all the more desolate and pitiful.
"What are you thinking about?" Adrian saw the sadness in Sienna’s eyes again, puzzled about what this woman was grieving over.
Sienna looked at Adrian, recovering from her melancholy, and said, "Adrian, let’s set off fireworks together this New Year."
"Sure."
"We want to set off fireworks too!" Curly shouted.
"..."
"Dad, George, Dylan, and I all want to set off fireworks!"
Adrian dismissed them, saying, "Go away, you little bulb!"
"You’re siding with color over girls!"
Pauline looked at the bickering father and daughter and said, "Curly, Grandma will set off fireworks with you. We’ll buy lots of them then."
"You’re the best, Grandma."
...
After dinner, Curly insisted on going out to build a snowman, while the twins and Ella, along with a few other little ones, went to bed early.
The women gathered around to play mahjong out of boredom.
Actually, Pauline had an itch for playing mahjong and pulled in Sienna, Paige, and Kiki to make up a full table of four.
"Ah, won again..." Pauline exclaimed, her voice brimming with excitement.
"..."
"Come on, pay up, pay up..." Pauline reached out her hand, asking them for their stakes.
Sienna, seeing her mother’s money-grubbing expression, said, "Mom, you really are a money-grubber."
Pauline stashed away the money, glanced at her daughter, and shuffled the tiles. "This is my luck turning to fortune; the more I win, the more prosperous I’ll be next year."
"Mom, I remember you used to follow the elegant and noble path, now you’re just like any common Auntie," Sienna said as she picked up her tiles.
She had to admit, her luck was terrible today; once again, she had a hand full of awful tiles.
"Like mother, like daughter. Look at you, and you’ll understand why I went from being an elegant noblewoman to... Ah, I won with the Thirteen Orphans..."
Sienna: ...
Paige obediently handed over some cash, saying, "Auntie Agatha, spread some of that good fortune our way for next year too..."
"Can’t help it, my hand is just too lucky."
Sienna called out, "Adrian!"
"What is it?"
"My mom’s getting out of hand, you need to bring her down a notch!"
