The Art of Pursuing: The Unyielding Ex-wife
Chapter 733: Accusing Qin Muni of Making Grandma Xu Die with Regret
Grandma Xu took out the scarf knitted by Munni from the gift bag. The gray and white scarf was quite beautiful, and Grandma Xu felt even better because of Munni’s filial piety. "It’s really beautiful, thank you for your hard work."
"It was nothing. Yisen has been talking about taking you to see a play these days. There’s a performance at the theater next weekend, and I’ve booked tickets for you and Yisen. Let him accompany you then."
"Alright, alright."
Grandma Xu’s health was getting weaker, and what she wanted most each day was probably to spend more time with her grandchildren.
Fortunately, her son and daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter-in-law were all filial. They would come to chat and have meals with her every day, so she was quite happy.
Munni stayed with Grandma Xu at the Xu Family the whole day. They went for a walk, had lunch, watered flowers in the greenhouse, and watched family dramas together, and time passed quickly.
Knowing that Munni was at home, Yisen came back after work. After having dinner with the family, he left with Munni.
The weather was gradually getting colder. In Munni’s living room, there was a fireplace. During the winter, she liked to light a fire in the fireplace and sit in a chair near it to read and keep warm.
After returning from the Xu Family, she took a shower and curled up beside the fireplace, holding a book, her eyes on the pages, yet she hadn’t turned a page for a long time, her expression somewhat absent-minded, clearly lost in thought.
Yisen entered the living room after a while and saw Munni just sitting dazedly in the armchair, her delicate eyebrows slightly furrowed, obviously preoccupied.
"What are you thinking about?"
Yisen’s question brought Munni back to her senses. She looked up at Yisen. Even though she tried hard to hide it, a trace of helplessness was still evident in her eyes.
"I’m a bit tired, I’ll go rest first."
Munni closed the book in her hands, set it aside on the armchair, and stood up.
Yisen was a little puzzled by the helpless look in her eyes, not knowing what was wrong with Munni. But seeing she didn’t seem to want to tell him, Yisen didn’t ask directly.
He followed behind Munni back to the room, "Are you feeling unwell? You look so tired."
Munni took off her indoor slippers in front of the bed, lifted the quilt, got in bed, and lowered her eyelids, saying in a somewhat flat tone, "Mm, maybe I caught a bit of a chill today, feeling a bit unwell."
Yisen sat on the edge of the bed, gently reached out to touch her flushed cheek, "Mm, then rest first, I’ll go to the study to check some documents."
"Mm."
Yisen leaned down and gave Munni a gentle peck on the forehead before getting up to leave the room, closing the light and door softly behind him.
After he left, Munni slowly opened her eyes again. In the darkness, her eyes were bright like stars, with a faint hint of sorrow flickering within.
Yisen worked in the study for a while before returning to the room. When Munni heard him coming back, she quickly closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.
His movements were very light when he came back, afraid of waking Munni. He got into bed gently and habitually drew the ’sleeping’ Munni into his arms.
Perhaps because his embrace was too warm, too reassuring for Munni, her mind, which had been clear, finally felt sleepy.
However, Munni didn’t have a good sleep. She had nightmares, in which... Grandma Xu never got to hold her great-grandson until her last moments.
At the funeral, everyone accused Munni of letting Grandma Xu die with regrets.
