The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 182: A Blessing in Disguise
Chapter 182: Chapter 182: A Blessing in Disguise
In the stove at the center of the tent, the charcoal burned vigorously. The dancing flames illuminated the tense faces of the crowd but failed to dispel even a fraction of the biting cold radiating from them. At this moment, only the three or four teams positioned closer were vaguely aware that an incident had occurred on the Sunset Squad’s side. They quietly packed up their belongings, no one daring to speak loudly.
The remaining squads and the official troops were still immersed in the ecstasy of successfully repelling forty to fifty thousand zombies. They busily and excitedly bustled about, clearing the battlefield.
After Francis Grant finished dealing with all the tasks, such as cleaning up the battlefield and settling the wounded, he made several special trips to visit the members of the Sunset Squad. The anxiety and anger surging in his heart gave him an intense, unapproachable aura. Even Skylar Quinn, who usually loved to chatter around him, obediently shut her mouth. She quietly followed behind him to help distribute supplies, not daring to make the slightest noise.
Previously, Francis had already sought out Kyle Keith to discuss this matter.
Even though Susan Vaughn and the Endless Squad member who made the move were already dead, the incident had ultimately originated from the Endless Squad. As their captain, Francis ultimately had to bear the corresponding responsibility. Kyle nodded in agreement, silently accepting this statement.
On the other side, when Dylan DuPont learned the ins and outs of the incident, his eyebrows instantly knitted tightly together. His heart was filled with shock and lingering fear. He never expected that the greatest danger would actually come from a friendly squad that had come out to execute the mission with them. Unable to hold back, he picked up his communication bracelet and told Luke Locke about this matter.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Luke finished listening and learned that someone had not only extracted Susan’s Crystal Core while she was still alive but also thrown her to feed the zombies, his reaction was surprising. His signature deep, resonant voice actually revealed immense excitement. He stated bluntly that a person capable of doing such a thing would absolutely not die easily. He also added that if there was a chance in the future, he definitely had to get to know the people of the Sunset Squad properly.
Inside the dimension, a sphere of water enveloped Luna Dawson, suspending her in mid-air. The vitality of the Spiritual Spring, the petals of the Bodhi Flowers, and the pure energy from hundreds of Crystal Cores continuously nourished her body.
More than ten hours slipped by quietly.
The sleeping Luna’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was met with a hazy, water-colored halo. There was nothing beneath her; she was actually hovering in mid-air! This sudden discovery startled Luna so much that her entire body stiffened. She subconsciously opened her mouth and ended up choking on several mouthfuls of the spirit spring water, which carried the fragrance of Bodhi Flowers. She coughed until her cheeks flushed red.
In her panic, she flailed her arms and legs wildly. Who knew that the moment she touched the wall of the water sphere wrapping around her body, it would suddenly burst with a POP. Countless water droplets, carrying the falling petals of the Bodhi Tree, splashed out in all directions. In an instant, they turned into specks of faint light and vanished into the air of the dimension.
Freed from her restraints, Luna plummeted and landed steadily on the soft, grassy ground. Feeling the delicate touch of the grass brushing against her feet, Luna suddenly realized she was entirely naked. She could not even remember when she had taken off her clothes.
Coming back to her senses, she suddenly felt a surging power within her body. Her superpower seemed ready to burst out from her limbs and bones. The energy flow in her meridians was smooth and robust, several times thicker and more powerful than before! She had leveled up!
This realization brought a wave of joy to Luna’s heart, and she immediately focused her mind to test it out. In the courtyard not far away, a watermelon—which she had previously scratched repeatedly with her spiritual power threads until it was as pitted as an old cutting board—exploded with a loud BANG the moment she shifted her thoughts. The flesh and juice splattered all over the ground!
A sharp glint flashed through Luna’s eyes. She clearly perceived that she could now precisely compress the water molecules within an object and trigger a self-explosion from a certain distance!
"Hahahahaha!"
Instantly, Luna’s unbridled laughter echoed throughout the dimension.
She tried to extend her spiritual power again. This time, the spiritual power threads spread outward without any hindrance, directly covering a radius of three kilometers. This was simply a qualitative leap!
With a thought, Luna instantly teleported to the riverbank inside the dimension. The babbling water flowed beneath her feet, crystal clear to the bottom. She raised her hand and flicked it gently. The river water within a range of thirty to forty meters ahead suddenly left the riverbed, as if held up by a giant invisible hand. It rapidly converged high in the air, revealing the wet, dark riverbed below. In just a moment, the adjacent river water rushed in to fill the emptied area, while the water flow high above condensed into a massive water platform.
Luna stared at the high-altitude water platform and channeled her thoughts once more. The platform rapidly transformed, shifting into neat, regular water stairs ten meters away from her, leading straight from the ground up into the sky. Barefoot, she cautiously stepped onto the first step. A cool sensation came from beneath her feet, yet it felt extraordinarily solid, showing no signs of collapsing.
Luna’s heart grew even more excited. She walked up the water stairs step by step. After reaching the top, she raised her hand and swung it fiercely toward the sky. Countless streams of water detached from the stairs, condensing into Water Bombs the size of basketballs. With a howling sound as they tore through the air, they shot high into the sky.
BOOM BOOM BOOM!
The sounds of explosions echoed throughout the dimension.
"Oh boy, from now on, I’m a human firearm!" Seeing her new abilities that she could control with ease, Luna curled her lips in satisfaction, a ruthless yet thoroughly delighted smile flashing in her eyes.
She thought, "Sure enough, once that bitch is dead, good luck keeps rolling in!"
Luna felt incredibly refreshed at this moment. Carrying a few buckets of Crystal Core Solution, she generously watered the Bodhi Tree. This was her great life-saving treasure!
Amidst her joy, she suddenly remembered her family wailing outside. She hurriedly grabbed a combat suit, intending to put it on and leave the dimension immediately. As soon as the clothes appeared in her hands, she pursed her lips. Why wear a combat suit? She could dress however she wanted now!
With a shift of her thoughts, a brand-new outfit appeared on her body. She wore a pink, faux-fur-trimmed, thermal goose-down vest paired with a fleece-lined qipao embroidered with butterfly patterns, which accentuated her snow-white skin. On her lower body, she wore form-fitting flesh-colored fleece tights, and on her feet were a pair of fluffy off-white plush shoes that were exceptionally soft and comfortable. She raised her hands and loosely pinned up her long black hair with a quaint peach-wood hairpin, revealing her slender, fair neck. She looked exquisitely carved out of pink jade, full of spirit and vitality.
Having changed into a beautiful look, her mood became even more cheerful. With a thought, Luna instantly left the dimension.
Her figure accurately appeared on the bed in the RV. By this time, the outside world was already past four o’clock in the morning.
The people inside the RV and the tents had long been waiting to the point of going crazy.
SWISH.
A charming and nimble figure suddenly popped up on the previously empty bed. Inside the RV, Mrs. Dawson, Rhonda, Hector, and the others were taken aback for a moment before they all cried out in surprise.
"Luna!"
"Luna!"
"Aunt Luna!"
"You’re finally out! You worried an old woman to death!"
Mrs. Dawson, who had been lying on the edge of the bed crying silently, stood up abruptly and was about to throw herself over to hug Luna.
Luna quickly reached out to stop her, speaking between tears and laughter. "Mom! I’m fine, don’t get so worked up—I just changed into this dress, don’t get it dirty!"
Mrs. Dawson was amused by her charming appearance, both crying and laughing. She reached out and gently pinched her cheek. Feeling the solid warmth transmitting to her fingertips, the heart that had been hanging in suspense for hours finally settled completely.
"As long as you’re okay, as long as you’re okay... You scared Mom to death!"
