The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 181: Damaged Spiritual Power
Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Damaged Spiritual Power
Mrs. Dawson’s voice trembled uncontrollably. Tears instantly blurred her eyes, leaving her unable to string together a complete sentence.
"Auntie! Auntie!"
Hector rushed out from the corner of the RV. Seeing Luna Dawson covered in blood with a deathly pale face, his tears fell immediately. He recklessly tried to throw himself onto her.
Kevin Keane was quick. He scooped the boy onto his lap and held him down. It felt as if a massive boulder was lodged in his throat. He spoke with difficulty, "Auntie Lynn, let Wendy heal her first... Her wounds probably haven’t fully recovered yet."
"Auntie, let me take a look first!" Rhonda Dawson immediately threw herself forward, a soft white glow slowly illuminating from her palms.
The white light enveloped Luna’s chest, and the warm Healing Ability slowly seeped in. The comfortable warmth allowed Luna’s stinging brain to regain a sliver of clarity. Just two or three seconds later, the white light dispersed. The minor scrapes on Luna’s body had completely healed without leaving a single scar, yet her forehead remained covered in a dense layer of cold sweat. Her small face was scrunched up, and her expression of agony hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
Seeing this, Kevin and Mrs. Dawson felt their hearts instantly clench. They grabbed Rhonda’s hands at the same time, asking urgently, "How is it? Why is Luna still in so much pain?"
Rhonda’s face was grave as she quickly explained, "Luna’s cranial nerves were injured by the Tier Four Zombie. My Healing Ability can only mend physical trauma. There’s no way for me to restore her spiritual power!"
BOOM.
The revelation struck like a thunderbolt, instantly stunning everyone in the RV. Mrs. Dawson’s legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed, but Miles Dawson quickly supported her. Grandpa stumbled forward, choking on his sobs so much that he couldn’t speak. All he could do was reach out and take the crying Hector, hugging him tightly and gently patting him to soothe him.
"I’m going to kill everyone in the Endless Squad!" Kevin clenched his fists violently, the bloodlust and hostility in his eyes practically overflowing.
Upon hearing this, Miles also stood up immediately. A chilling aura instantly radiated from his body. The two of them looked ready to storm out of the RV to seek revenge against the Endless Squad.
"Don’t go..." Enduring the splitting agony in her head, Luna used all her strength to speak. Her voice was weak but clear. "I’ve been protecting myself with a layer of water film the whole time. It’s just a headache. I’ll be fine."
Luna had already taken her revenge and didn’t want to drag the other squad members into it. In her past life, just like most ordinary people, she had only joined a squad to make a living and put food on the table.
The moment his cold fingertips were touched, Kevin instantly froze. He immediately turned around and grasped her hand in return, his voice urgent and laced with suppressed heartache. "Tell me, how do you want them to die?!"
Luna furrowed her brows. The wailing and anxious discussions inside the RV only made her headache even more severe. Taking a deep breath, she forced out the words, "Don’t go... I’m going into my space to rest for a while... Don’t worry about me."
As soon as she finished speaking, her figure vanished from the bed.
Kevin subconsciously grabbed at the air a few times, but his fingers only caught emptiness. He slumped onto the edge of the bed, his hands tightly gripping the sheets that still held a trace of her lingering warmth. The light in his eyes dimmed little by little, and a heavy, suffocating gloom surrounded him.
A glimmer of hope flashed across Rhonda’s eyes, and she quickly comforted the group, "Don’t panic, everyone! Luna is practically uninjured physically. It’s her spiritual power that was damaged. She’ll definitely recover after resting for a while!"
Though she spoke words of comfort, her heart remained fraught with anxiety. Damaged spiritual power was no trivial matter. The slightest mishap could leave lasting side effects. She could only hope that Luna would be able to recuperate properly in her space and recover soon. The group nodded blankly. Their minds were still in utter turmoil. They could only stand guard inside the RV, waiting in total silence for Luna to emerge from her space. Even their breathing grew heavy.
The moment Luna flashed into her space, the excruciating pain in her head caused her vision to go black. She stumbled and collapsed weakly beneath the Bodhi Tree. The rough bark scraped against her arm, bringing a slight sting that paled in comparison to the torment in her head. Gritting her teeth, she was just about to muster her remaining strength to teleport to the Spiritual Spring and draw some water to ease the pain. However, in the next second, a stream of clear water from the nearby spring seemed to gain a mind of its own, slowly surging toward her.
In her daze, she suddenly felt as if a pair of invisible hands had gently lifted her, suspending her steadily in mid-air. As the current flowed past the Bodhi Tree, it swept up the blooming Bodhi Flowers drifting through the air. Together with the petals, the water formed a massive, crystal-clear sphere that securely encased Luna inside.
It was an incredibly wondrous sensation—warm and gentle. It felt as though she had instantly returned to the tranquil state of a fetus enveloped in amniotic fluid. All of her unease and agony were quietly smoothed away in that very moment. Luna could clearly feel the gentle vitality of the Spiritual Spring and the profound life force of the Bodhi Tree continuously seeping into her limbs and bones through the water sphere. Like countless tiny, warm currents, they surged precisely toward the damaged nerves in her brain, mending the severed and injured areas bit by bit.
Nourished by this vitality, the severe pain in her head gradually dissipated, replaced by a soothing warmth that spread throughout her entire body. Luna let out a comfortable sigh. Her tightly knit brows instantly smoothed out, and her tense body completely relaxed. Her eyes slowly fluttered shut uncontrollably as she unconsciously fell asleep.
The water sphere continued to float steadily. The water from the Spiritual Spring and the Bodhi Flowers circulated endlessly, continuously supplying her with vitality and guarding her slumber. After she drifted off, specks of faint light suddenly illuminated from the depths of her space. Thousands of Water-type Crystal Cores of various ranks slowly flew out from the storage area. They drifted automatically toward the giant water sphere encasing her, melting into it without any resistance. The moment the Crystal Cores touched the water sphere, they transformed into pure energy, pouring endlessly into Luna’s parched body that desperately thirsted for nourishment.
Meanwhile, outside the space, time quietly slipped by. It was already 2:00 AM.
Thanks to the all-out extermination efforts of the main force, the zombies besieging the area had been completely wiped out. Moreover, due to the death of the Fourth-tier Spiritual Body, the zombies in the city limits had lost their guidance to gather and roam. Not a single zombie approached their direction anymore.
Francis Grant had specifically ordered his men to set up a thick military tent in front of the Sunset Squad’s RV. Rollo, Little Tiger, and the other little ones stayed inside the tent alongside Kevin Keane, Evan Olson, Wayne Dawson, and the rest. The entire atmosphere was quiet and solemn, without a single sound being made. The elders and children remained inside the RV. The doors were shut tight, securely concealing the situation inside and preventing anyone from the outside from prying.
Inside the tent, everyone wore a grave expression with furrowed brows. Kevin looked haggard, his eyes bloodshot. He held Rollo tightly in his arms, paying absolutely no mind to the zombie blood staining its fur. It was as if hugging Rollo this tightly was the only way he could barely suppress the surging murderous intent in his heart.
Lynn Shelby sat to the side, absently stroking Little Tiger, who was resting in his lap. His gaze was vacant and unfocused, evidently fraught with worry over Luna’s condition. The leaves of Little Sweet Potato and Purple Bean were entirely droopy, stripped of their usual vibrancy. The two little plants intertwined with each other to weave a crude, large basket. Inside the basket sat the thousands of Crystal Cores from Luna’s previous battle that she hadn’t yet had the time to store in her space.
