Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Fourth Rank

Luna Dawson took out a tissue. Her heart aching, she stood up and gently wiped the tears from Mrs. Dawson’s face.

"There’s really no need to worry. Not only am I fine, but I’ve also ranked up! I’m already at the Fourth Rank now!" Her sweet voice was full of joy as she clearly announced the great news.

"My sister is a total badass!" Miles Dawson’s eyes lit up. He rushed over in a few steps, wanting to give her a hug too, but Luna held out a hand to stop him.

"No, no, no! You’re all covered in blood and gore, and I just got myself cleaned up!"

Hearing this, the rest of the group belatedly looked down at themselves. After the previous battle, their bodies were more or less stained with blood and grime. They did indeed look like a mess.

Only Hector couldn’t care less. Pumping his short little legs, he threw himself into Luna’s arms, rubbing his small head affectionately against her. Luna smiled and rubbed her head against his in return, the two of them incredibly close.

Rhonda Dawson’s eyes were red. With hot tears welling up, she stepped forward. "You scared me to death... If it weren’t for you, our family would have fallen apart."

"What nonsense are you talking about, sis?" Luna tapped her on the nose, her tone firm. "At worst, I’d get injured. I will absolutely not die!"

Miles couldn’t wait any longer. He turned, pulled open the RV door, and sprinted out to deliver the good news to everyone in the tent.

Just as Luna finished comforting Mrs. Dawson, she heard the anxious WHINE WHINE of Rollo coming from outside. She quickly set Hector down and jogged out, ready to give her little pets a good petting.

But the moment she stepped into the tent, several dark figures lunged at her with a gust of wind. It was Rollo, Little Tiger, Little Sweet Potato, and Purple Bean.

Luna instinctively raised her hand. With a mere thought, she stored them all into her space. "That was too close! They almost got my new clothes dirty!"

Inside the space, Rollo, Little Tiger, Little Sweet Potato, and Purple Bean stood frozen with dumbfounded expressions. They looked at each other, none of them registering what had just happened.

"Big sister thinks we’re dirty!" Little Sweet Potato was the first to react. It quickly ran into the bathroom inside the space, turned on the showerhead, and called out to the other little ones. "Hurry up and wash! Once we’re clean, we can snuggle with her!"

Saying that, it morphed into a little bath attendant, scrubbing up bubbles for Rollo and Little Tiger. The little gang thoroughly enjoyed a refreshing bubble bath.

Back in the tent, Kevin Keane, Evan Olson, Blake Blue, and the rest stared blankly at Luna, who stood before them beaming and dressed in a new Chinese-style outfit. For a moment, they didn’t even dare to breathe too heavily, terrified that one extra breath might cause the person in front of them to vanish into thin air.

"WAAAH! Luna!" Aaron Palmer couldn’t hold it in any longer. He covered his face and bawled, all his worry and anxiety erupting at this very moment.

The tense corners of Lynn Shelby’s mouth finally curled into a smile. His tone was full of certainty. "I knew you were tough to kill. I knew you’d be fine."

"Man, you really scared me to death." Blake let out a long sigh of relief and patted his chest with lingering fear, casually slinging an arm around the still-dazed Evan next to him.

Evan’s eyes were glazed over as he muttered to himself, "Luna, I didn’t even dare to think... If something had happened to you, what would we do..." By the end, he was so choked up he couldn’t speak.

Miles stepped forward and threw an arm around Evan’s shoulders. Unable to help it, he wiped away the tears from the corners of his own eyes, repeatedly rubbing his snot onto Evan’s clothes. Evan, too focused on wiping his own tears, didn’t notice a thing.

In the crowd, Kevin looked at the living, breathing Luna standing before him. Unable to control himself any longer, he took the lead and stepped forward, reaching out his arms to pull her into a tight embrace.

Seeing this, Luna hastily waved her hands in resistance. "Don’t! I just changed into these clothes!"

Kevin paused. In two or three quick motions, he stripped off his blood-stained jacket, tossed it aside, and reached for her again without a word. He couldn’t care about anything else right now. He only wanted to hold her tight and confirm that she was truly safe and sound.

Luna struggled with all her might, turned around, and bolted. "Your pants are dirty too!"

Kevin felt that the person in his hands was harder to pin down than a pig readied for slaughter before the New Year. With one moment of underestimation, she slipped through his grasp. He stood frozen in place, unable to snap out of his daze for quite a while.

Lynn stood nearby and mocked, "Tsk, you can’t even hold onto her... What else are you good for...?"

Kevin remained completely silent.

"Sis! I want to take a shower!" Miles frowned and covered his nose. Feeling terrifyingly filthy, he couldn’t help but holler at the top of his lungs.

By now, Aaron’s emotions had calmed down a bit, and only then did he feel an overwhelming wave of exhaustion. Staring with teary eyes toward the outside of the tent where Luna had vanished, he immediately howled, "I want to sleep! Luna! I can barely keep my eyes open!"

Blake didn’t say a word. He very consciously began stripping off his outer jacket and pants, getting ready to wash up so he could hop into bed as fast as possible.

Evan watched this chaotic yet lively scene before him and helplessly rubbed his forehead. It seemed that hacking zombies tonight hadn’t tired them out enough after all.

As soon as Luna came out, she manifested the light-steel villa and stored away the military tent. After a night of such emotional rollercoasters, she urged everyone to hurry up and wash so they could squeeze in a bit of shut-eye.

Luna had slept twice in a row and was feeling exceptionally energized. She went room to room distributing clothes and pants to everyone, then collected all the dirty laundry. Sometimes, she really felt like an old nanny—having to manage everyone’s eating, drinking, and daily needs.

She let out the sweet-smelling little pets, and the fluffy bundles all huddled together on the living room sofa, binge-watching TV shows with her.

Meanwhile, in the various rooms, everyone came out of the shower and pulled on the clean clothes Luna had distributed. They seized the time to sleep in their clothes, ready to wake up in peak condition at a moment’s notice to plunge into the next battle.

Kevin stared at the pastel pink underwear adorned with a goofy cartoon elephant pattern. He froze for a second, then picked it up with slightly stiff movements and put it on.

Around six in the morning, the entire group was awakened again. Near the convoy, wisps of cooking smoke rose from the scattered large military tents.

Kyle Keith sat up on his camp bed and lit a cigarette. Resting his elbows on his knees, he squinted through the semi-transparent tent flap, scrutinizing that light-steel villa.

At this moment, Clayton Churchill walked up to his tent and asked, "Captain Kessler, do you need me to join you?"

Since the Sunset Squad had brought out their villa, it meant their Superpower User with a Healing Ability was also extremely powerful, capable of saving someone even after they had been subjected to a Tier Four Zombie’s spiritual power attack. This squad was truly unfathomable.

After a quick wash, Kyle stepped out of his tent and said to Clayton, "Tell Brandon Bell to come over."

"Yes, sir."

On Luna’s side, she had binged several episodes of a great show and was completely engrossed. It wasn’t until she heard her family stirring awake that she snapped out of it and laid out breakfast.

After a major battle, the troops definitely needed to be well rewarded. Besides, she had also ranked up, so a small celebration was certainly in order.

So, she took out a deluxe morning tea spread packed from a star-rated Cantonese restaurant, filling the entire dining table. There were steamed pork ribs with taro, steamed rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, signature BBQ pork buns, dry-fried beef hor fun, beef tripe, chicken feet in black bean sauce, black pepper short ribs, and more.

She even personally used spirit spring water to blend a batch of five-grain soy milk made with love for everyone. Drinking this would help restore everyone’s Spirit. As someone who naturally lacked energy, she knew all too well the groggy, miserable feeling of a sleep-deprived day.
