Chapter 333: Chapter 125: My Fierce and Beautiful Mentor (Part 3)
She raised her teacup and took a sip. "I have to admit," she concluded, "you may be a troublemaker who kicks up a storm wherever he goes, but this talent for making money... ahem, for developing and strengthening yourself, is truly something else."
"Hehe." Lynch smiled, looking slightly smug. Then, as if remembering something, he took an exquisitely designed ring from his Space Ring. It was the Banshee’s Kiss he had used in his earlier days.
’The ring is still quite useful, but its effects are negligible for me now.’
"Junior Sister, it’s our first time meeting. I don’t have a great gift for you." Lynch handed it over. "This ring is called the Banshee’s Kiss. After filling it with Mana, it can instantly cast a Tier One Weakness Curse. I don’t have a use for it anymore, so it’s perfect for you at your current stage."
Charlotte was completely taken aback, her face flushing red with excitement. She waved her hands frantically. "Th-this is too valuable, Senior Brother! I-I can’t accept it..."
"He’s giving it to you, so just take it," Annabella chimed in. "Your senior brother is a rich man now. This is nothing to him."
Only then did Charlotte accept the Banshee’s Kiss. Her eyes, full of gratitude and admiration, fixed on Lynch. "Th-thank you, Senior Brother!"
Lynch smiled, and his Spiritual Power stirred once more.
Soon, seven or eight Black Corpses swarmed in from all directions, coming to a halt in the courtyard outside the small hall. An eerie green Soul Fire flickered within each of their eye sockets.
"Junior Sister, these are all Black Corpses converted from Tier Two corpses. Go on, pick the one you like best," Lynch gestured. "I will transfer its Soul Contract to you. With a Tier One Soul Fire zombie as your core, it will be much safer and more convenient when you’re out on low-risk missions."
Charlotte simply couldn’t believe her ears.
’Senior Brother is actually giving me a Black Corpse? And a Soul Fire Black Corpse at that!?’
’At the academy, this is the top-tier setup that countless necromancy apprentices dream of having!’
She could no longer contain her excitement. She skipped joyfully into the courtyard and paced back and forth in front of the line of Black Corpses, examining each one to see which she liked best. Finally, steeling her resolve, she pointed to one with a particularly thick left arm and a Soul Fire that seemed more active than the others. "S-Senior Brother," she said excitedly, "I choose this one!"
Lynch nodded, walked up to that Black Corpse, and gently tapped its forehead with his finger.
With a softly chanted esoteric spell and some minute manipulation on a spiritual level, the contractual bond between him and the Black Corpse was gradually peeled away, guided, and finally transformed into a mote of ethereal light that sank into the space between Charlotte’s eyebrows.
Charlotte’s body trembled slightly, and she immediately felt a close spiritual link being established between herself and the Black Corpse.
"It’s yours now." Lynch retracted his hand and smiled. "Go ahead and give it a name."
At Lynch’s current level of power, a Black Corpse of this caliber, even a Soul Fire unit, wasn’t even worthy of receiving a name from him. At most, he’d casually assign it a designation, like Corpse Eleven or Corpse Eighteen...
But for Charlotte, who was still just a necromancy apprentice, this creature was absolutely Top Grade. It was like starting a game of Romance of the Three Kingdoms as a weak ruler and immediately recruiting peerless warriors like Zhang Fei or Lu Bu.
Charlotte gently stroked the Black Corpse’s cold, hard arm, feeling the docile response from its Soul Fire. The rims of her eyes reddened as she nodded vigorously. "Mhm, thank you, Senior Brother! I’ll be sure to train it well and live up to your expectations! I... I’ll call him ’Iron Arm’!"
Seeing his junior sister so moved she was on the verge of tears, Lynch smiled and ruffled her short, flaxen hair.
He then turned to Annabella. A thought occurred to him, and he spoke up, "Right, Mentor. During our operation in the Angelo Mountains, we captured a Tier Six Undead Demoness from the Netherworld. Her Soul Fire should still contain her original master’s contractual imprint. I was wondering, do you have any way to erase it?"
"A Tier Six Undead Demoness from the Netherworld?" A flicker of surprise crossed Annabella’s eyes, followed by a somewhat complicated look at Lynch.
She mulled it over for a moment, then turned to her junior disciple, who was still basking in her joy. "Charlotte, why don’t you take Iron Arm out to the courtyard to get acquainted and practice some basic commands. Your senior brother and I have some things to talk about."
"Yes, Mentor!" Charlotte replied obediently. Though curious, she immediately led her new companion, Iron Arm, out of the small hall.
Once her young disciple had left, Annabella turned her attention back to Lynch, her tone losing its casual edge and taking on a serious weight. "That demoness... she’s connected to that ’Saint’ from the Realm of the Dead, Adelaxius, isn’t she?"
Lynch nodded. "She is."
Annabella’s expression grew more somber, her fingertips tapping lightly on the armrest. "So that fellow still hasn’t given up. It seems whatever Ashbringer Lester left behind is truly extraordinary... Even Adelaxius, who has already reached Saint Tier and is all the way in the Realm of the Dead, can’t stop thinking about it, reaching out for it time and time again."
She paused before continuing, "Erasing a Soul Contract imprint... I can try. With my current Spiritual Power and my understanding of souls and the Death Law, my chances of success aren’t low, especially against a contract whose original master is a great distance away. However..."
Her tone shifted. "Even if the original imprint is erased, trying to forcibly form a contract with a Tier Six Undead Demoness is still extremely risky, given your current tier and Spiritual Power. High Tier Undead like her possess considerable intelligence and tenacious Soul Fire. They can easily turn on their master at a critical moment. If you’re not careful, instead of you controlling her, your Sea of Spirit could be severely damaged, or worse, corrupted by her."
