Chapter 290: Chapter 118: Dragon Descendant Warlock! Lynch Became an Unwed Father?

It dropped to its knees before Conrad with a THUD, kowtowing repeatedly. "Thank you, thank you, Lord Priest! Thank you!"

Conrad wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a sigh of relief. He waved his hand and said, "Don’t thank me. It’s also thanks to..."

He glanced at Fritz, who was collapsed on the ground, his face pale and his hands still trembling, and continued with a hint of surprise, "...thanks to his decisive action, which bought us time."

’For this arrogant young master to actually step in and perform a C-section on a Kobold... how strange.’

Today’s events had somewhat changed his opinion of the young master.

Just as he was speaking, a flurry of urgent footsteps sounded from outside.

Lynch had heard the news and rushed over, followed by Avril, who had just finished cleaning up after the celebration and had tagged along specifically because she heard treatment might be needed.

Seeing the chaotic but now-controlled scene inside the mine, as well as the Kobold mother who was still enveloped in a faint Holy Light and breathing steadily, Lynch felt a wave of relief.

’Golden Fang is the Kobold chief, after all. He has worked hard and contributed greatly to the development of Lakefront Town. It would be for the best if his family was safe.’

However, before Lynch could ask about the specifics of the situation, Golden Fang did something unexpected.

He picked up the newly cleaned Dragon Descendant whelp, and as if holding the most precious treasure, he shuffled forward on his knees to Lynch. He respectfully raised the infant high above his head and chattered on at length in an excited and pious Kobold tongue.

A nearby Soldier who knew a little of the Kobold language translated in a low voice, "My lord, Golden Fang says this is an auspicious sign for the tribe, a miracle born only through your grace. He wishes to offer this Dragon Descendant to you as your most loyal servant and Warrior, and he begs you to accept."

Lynch was stunned by his words and looked down at the little one.

’Whoa, this Kobold whelp is huge! It’s almost the size of a newborn human.’

Its scales weren’t the common earthen-yellow or brown of this Kobold tribe, but a vibrant red, like dancing flames.

On its lizard-like head were two distinct bony bumps, vaguely shaped like undeveloped dragon horns.

’You have to admit, all babies have a certain cuddly cuteness to them.’

The little one’s eyes weren’t fully open yet, but it instinctively opened its mouth, its tiny milk teeth snapping at the air and letting out a faint "eee-ya" sound.

Amused, Lynch took a few small pieces of fresh jerky from his Space Ring. After confirming with the Kobolds that the whelp could eat it, he brought the jerky to the little one’s mouth.

The little one smelled the meat and immediately bit down on the jerky, clumsy but eager. It sucked and chewed greedily, grunting and whimpering with delight as it ate.

After finishing the jerky, it seemed somewhat satisfied and managed to open its eyes.

They were a pair of vertical pupils, pure and bright, like molten gold.

The first thing it saw was Lynch, who was looking down at it.

The little one stared blankly at Lynch for a few seconds, then suddenly let out a cheerful gurgle. It struggled out of Golden Fang’s hands and began to crawl toward Lynch, wobbling and stumbling in a show of extreme affection.

After a couple of crawls, it seemed to want to express something. It opened its mouth and—WHOOSH—spat out a small cluster of orange-red flame, about the size of a candle flame.

The flame grazed the corner of Lynch’s robe, leaving a small scorch mark.

Lynch, annoyed, lightly flicked its little head. "You little rascal, trying to play with fire before you can even walk?"

The flick made the little one’s head wobble, but it wasn’t upset. Instead, it affectionately nuzzled Lynch’s finger, then looked up at him with pleading eyes and opened its mouth again.

"What a little glutton," Lynch cursed with a laugh, pulling out another piece of jerky to stuff in its mouth.

Just then, Conrad chimed in with a smile, "Lord Lynch, Dragon Descendant Kobold Warlocks have great potential, but raising them consumes a lot of food and resources."

"Many wild Kobold tribes pour all their resources into raising just one, and even then, they can barely manage it. Due to the lack of resources, their growth is often limited, and they get stuck at Tier One or Tier Two."

He paused, looking at the little one diligently gnawing on the jerky while perched on Lynch’s arm, and continued, "But if it’s carefully nurtured from a young age with sufficient resources, its growth potential will be much greater. Most importantly..."

Conrad’s smile widened. "You were the first thing it saw when it opened its eyes, and you gave it its first bite of food. This sort of... ahem, imprinting... according to the traits of Dragon Descendants and certain magical creatures, it has probably already instinctively come to see you as its closest ’mother’ or ’leader.’"

"The hell?"

Lynch was taken aback, unable to stop himself from staring wide-eyed at the little red ball of flesh in the crook of his arm.

’So I’m...’

’A father before I’m even married!?’

’I’ve somehow ended up with a "son"?’

’A Kobold Dragon Descendant Warlock, at that?’
