Chapter 291: Chapter 119: My New Mom! Lady Moon Priestess

...

Lynch weighed the little guy in his hands, then looked at the expectant Golden Fang and the surrounding Kobolds, who were a mix of excited and awestruck.

"Alright, fine," Lynch sighed helplessly. It wasn’t like he couldn’t do it.

’I’ve never raised a child, but a Dragon Descendant Kobold isn’t a normal child anyway. I’ll just treat it like a special pet, or maybe an investment in future combat strength.’

He poked the little one. "Seeing how good you are at breathing fire, I’ll call you ’Dragon Flame’ from now on."

The little guy seemed to understand, happily wagging its tail and puffing out a small cluster of flames.

"Let’s go. I’m taking you back." Lynch held Dragon Flame securely and said to Conrad, "Conrad, I’m leaving the follow-up care and recovery here to you. Now that the Kobolds’ nutrition has improved, their birth rate has clearly increased significantly."

"You know, the birthing process is extremely risky. The Kobolds are residents of our Lakefront Town, too. We can’t just let them fend for themselves and die off like before. In the future, I’ll have to ask you to pay more attention to their maternal care."

Conrad’s smile froze on his face. "Huh? So you’re telling me I have to moonlight as an OB/GYN and a pediatrician now?"

Lynch clapped him on the shoulder and said earnestly, "To the able go the labors, my friend. This is also for the sustainable development of Lakefront Town’s mining industry."

With that, he turned, holding his new "pet son" Dragon Flame, and walked toward the mine’s exit.

Before leaving, he passed by Fritz, suddenly stopped, and reached out to pat his shoulder.

"This time, you did a good job. Keep it up."

Lynch’s tone was flat, but the act itself was a clear sign of his approval for Fritz.

Fritz shuddered and instantly looked up, meeting Lynch’s gaze.

The look in his eyes was extremely complex, as if he’d never expected Lynch to suddenly praise him. It was also as if something was overflowing in his chest, making his eyes well up.

He opened his mouth, but in the end, said nothing, just nodding forcefully.

「Soon.」

Lynch returned to the garrison, carrying Dragon Flame back to his room on the second floor.

He had originally planned to make a comfortable nest for the little guy in a corner, but he soon discovered that he might have been thinking too simply.

The little guy had a terrifying amount of energy. It was only slightly better behaved when eating; once it was full, it immediately began exploring his room.

It crawled at lightning speed, was curious about everything, chewed on the table legs, pawed at the books on his bookshelf, and even tried to climb onto Lynch’s bed.

The most troublesome part was that it seemed to treat Lynch as a climbing frame. It nimbly scrambled up his pant leg, all the way to the top of his head, where it found a comfortable spot to squat and smugly spat out a small puff of flame.

A few strands of Lynch’s hair were instantly scorched, giving off a nasty, burnt smell.

"Get down from there," Lynch said irritably, plucking it off his head.

Dragon Flame wasn’t annoyed. After landing, it shook its head, then trotted right back over and clung to Lynch’s leg, rubbing against it while making ingratiating purring sounds in its throat.

The commotion soon attracted another little troublemaker.

The door was pushed open a crack without a sound, and the little Vampire, Esther, poked her head in, blinking her big eyes.

She quickly spotted the red "new accessory" on Lynch’s leg, and her eyes instantly lit up.

"Ying?" She flew in lightly and began circling Dragon Flame curiously.

Dragon Flame also raised its head, its golden, slitted pupils sizing up this strange-smelling big sister.

The Vampire and the Dragon Descendant Kobold stared at each other, big eyes meeting small.

Then, for some reason, Esther suddenly reached out and poked the bony protrusion on Dragon Flame’s head.

Not to be outdone, Dragon Flame opened its mouth and spat a small wisp of flame at her.

Esther, singed by the flame, wasn’t angry at all. Instead, she found it interesting and giggled, extending a finger. A small, crimson bead of blood materialized at her fingertip, and she dangled it in front of Dragon Flame.

Dragon Flame sniffed it. The bead’s scent seemed alluring, but it instinctively felt it shouldn’t eat it. After a moment’s hesitation, it turned its head away and continued climbing up Lynch.

Seeing this, Esther’s playful mood was sparked, and she climbed up after it.

And so, Lynch was suddenly saddled with two "cubs." A red-scaled Kobold peered curiously from his shoulder, while a pale-skinned vampire loli hugged his neck, giggling incessantly.

Lynch, thoroughly annoyed, grabbed one in each hand, plucked them off, and dropped them onto the beast-hide rug in the center of the room.

"You two, go play by yourselves! No wrecking the house! No starting fires! No biting things you’re not supposed to!" Lynch warned, pointing at them.

The two little ones tumbled into a ball on the rug. One would poke, the other would puff a little flame, and they surprisingly started playing together, making all sorts of playful noises.

Watching this scene, Lynch couldn’t help but rub the bridge of his nose.

’A vampire loli, a Dragon Descendant Kobold cub...’

’I suddenly feel like my garrison is turning into a daycare.’

’Whatever. Once Dragon Flame gets a little bigger, I’ll just toss both of these troublemakers, big and small, into Lakefront Academy and let them go to school.’

’Let the teachers get a headache over them!’

In the following days, Lynch holed himself up in the garrison, living the bittersweet life of a "stay-at-home dad."

The "bitter" part was because the two little ones, Dragon Flame and Esther, had a headache-inducing amount of energy.

Dragon Flame changed practically every day, its growth rate astonishingly fast.

In just a few days, it could already dash all over the room.

It was curious about everything and especially loved to chew on things to grind its teeth. Table legs, the corners of books, and even Lynch’s boots fell victim.𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂
