Chapter 249: Chapter 113: Ancient Elf Ruins! Gaining a Ghost Unit

...

Soon, Bone Valor’s figure vanished completely into the mirror-like surface of the Teleportation Gate.

But at the very moment Bone Valor disappeared,

Lynch’s mental link with it suddenly became extremely weak.

The sensation was strange. It was as if the distance between them was too great, or perhaps it was the spatial barrier of the Teleportation Gate. In any case, his mental link was severely disrupted.

Lynch was momentarily unsettled.

But thankfully, the link hadn’t been completely severed.

The shared vision between him and Bone Valor was still active, and he could just barely receive some extremely blurry, intermittent images.

In the images, Bone Valor seemed to be inside a magnificent but dilapidated grand hall.

Looking up, the dome was so deep and dark its top was out of sight.

Looking around, vines crawled all over broken pillars that seemed to be carved from white jade. The exquisite reliefs on the pillars had long since weathered and flaked away, but even the remaining fragments faintly hinted at their former splendor and elegance.

On the ground, massive stone slabs were cracked and mottled, their crevices overgrown with all sorts of weeds and moss.

And under Bone Valor’s feet, it seemed to be standing in the center of a circular altar.

The altar’s structure was intricate and ornate, and it was in relatively better condition, but it was also covered in a thick layer of dust, with some parts in the corners having already collapsed.

But even so, compared to the beggar’s version of a Teleportation Gate Array that Lynch had haphazardly thrown together, this one was at least ten times more exquisite.

At this moment, the Magic Array in the center of the altar, having been remotely activated by Lynch’s Teleportation Gate, was also emitting faint spatial fluctuations and had materialized a mirror-like Teleportation Gate of its own.

Seeing this, Lynch’s eyes lit up slightly.

’It seems there’s an ancient ruin on the other side of the Teleportation Array. And it looks like an Elven ruin?’

’Ruins are good things, especially ancient Elven ruins.’

’Ruins like these have existed for so long that whatever survives is usually valuable. Even some unimportant "trash" might be considered a highly sought-after "antique work of art" back in the outside world.’

’Looks like my luck is pretty good. Building this Teleportation Gate wasn’t a waste after all.’

Lynch immediately decided to use the weak mental link to command Bone Valor to leave the teleportation altar and carefully explore the surroundings for anything valuable.

However, the very instant that thought crossed his mind...

Lynch felt a sharp, static-like jolt. His vision blurred, and the already weak mental link with Bone Valor suddenly became incredibly sluggish and rigid.

At the same time, the image in his shared vision became extremely blurry.

A few seconds later, the mental link was completely severed.

"This is bad!"

Lynch’s heart went cold.

Almost at the same instant the link broke, the previously calm, mirror-like surface of the Teleportation Gate began to ripple violently again.

Just a few seconds later, Bone Valor’s figure staggered out from the mirror-like surface.

But compared to before, its current state was incredibly bizarre.

Its bones and Bone Knife, originally a lustrous jade-white, were now tinged with a strange, faint blue glow, as if they had been steeped in some kind of extreme frost.

The Soul Fire in its eye sockets had also changed from its original ghostly green to a flickering, ice-blue flame. Its body now emanated a sinister, deathly chill.

It looked up at Lynch, its cold gaze filled with unfamiliar malice, without a trace of its former obedience.

The next instant.

CLATTER CLATTER CLATTER!

The traitorous Bone Valor raised its pale-blue Bone Knife and charged ferociously at Lynch.

"Holy shit!"

Lynch’s scalp tingled in alarm.

As a Necromancer, he could naturally tell at a glance that Bone Valor’s current state was likely the result of being possessed by a ghost.

’Who knows how many years that ancient ruin has been abandoned? How can there still be a living ghost inside?’

"Jinke, Sea Song! Shut down the Teleportation Gate immediately and dismantle the core!" Lynch reacted in a flash, issuing the order quickly as he retreated with swift steps.

Fortunately, he always came well-prepared.

Knowing he would be exploring the unknown other side of a Teleportation Gate, he had brought his two great generals, Corpse Demon and Bloodfang, with him. He had also positioned himself a good distance from the gate, avoiding a direct face-to-face assault from the traitorous Bone Valor.

After the initial shock wore off, he wasn’t the least bit flustered.

"Ah! Yes, sir!"

The goblin Jinke flinched in fright, but his hands moved quickly. He immediately lunged for the Control Array. Sea Song also rushed forward to help him quickly close the Space Channel.

Meanwhile, the two formidable Purple Zombie generals who had been guarding Lynch’s sides—Corpse Demon and Bloodfang—also reacted with great speed.

They simultaneously let out a deafening corpse roar and stood in front of Lynch like two small mountains.

Facing the charging "traitor Bone Valor," Corpse Demon swung its massive, fan-like purple hand, bringing it down with a vicious slap that stirred up a foul wind!

BAM—!

CRACK!!

With just a single slap,

Bone Valor was smashed to pieces, its pale-blue bones scattering across the ground.

The difference in strength was too great.

Even possessed by a ghost, Bone Valor’s pitiful base stats were simply no match.

However, just because Bone Valor was shattered didn’t mean the trouble was over.

The shattered bones had barely hit the ground when a translucent Shadow let out a wail and detached itself from the fragments, lunging toward Lynch with incredible speed.

The thing had a head, hands, and feet, roughly humanoid in shape, but its face was a blurry, twisted mess. It emanated a bone-chilling aura and a thick, resentful malevolence.

This was clearly a ghost!

Corpse Demon and Bloodfang reacted quickly, immediately pouncing on the ghost.
