Chapter 248: Chapter 112: I Have a Spatial Gate
The number of caravans traveling the old trade route along Mirror Lake had increased noticeably. Along the way, inns that had been refurbished and reopened were gradually seeing business once more.
Everything was heading in a positive direction. Order and vitality had replaced the land’s former desolation and decay.
Lynch’s personal development was progressing just as smoothly.
Over this period, his spirit had been steadily increasing at a relatively fast pace.
Although he still had a long way to go to become a Tier Three Mage, his foundation was exceptionally solid. His progress was steady but not slow. Even the likes of his senior, Amadis, who was backed by her family’s resources, lagged slightly behind him in their training.
And with the continuous consumption of vast quantities of rare resources, the strength of his core Undead Units had also improved significantly.
Notably, he had added two heavyweight Undead Units to his ranks: a three-headed hellhound zombie and a Skeleton Mage converted from the corpse of a Catastrophe Warlock—Bone Curse.
After a long period of continuous refinement and enhancement, the zombie created from the three-headed hellhound had now fully transformed into a Purple Zombie. It was even beginning to transition to the higher-tier "copper-armored" stage, its body faintly shimmering with a metallic luster as its ferocious aura grew stronger by the day.
Naturally, it had become Lynch’s most impressive mount.
As for the original Red Rabbit, it was logically bestowed upon a meritorious Skeleton Mage and renamed "Little Rabbit."
The name "Red Rabbit," of course, now belonged to his new three-headed hellhound zombie mount.
Furthermore, the performance of Bone Curse, the Skeleton Mage converted from the Catastrophe Warlock, was also quite impressive.
When it was first converted into a Skeleton Mage using the Skeleton Resurrection Skill, it was already at the Tier Three Middle Stage.
In the time since, with Lynch sparing no expense to fuel it with his Skeleton Enhancement Skill and a steady supply of rare materials, its strength had recovered to a Tier Four Middle Stage. It had become the strongest Magic System damage-dealer in Lynch’s ranks, wielding astonishingly powerful Hellfire and Curse spells.
Of course, this was all just standard progress—the fruits of Lynch’s long seclusion.
Today, however, Lynch had made a rare exception, ending his seclusion and leaving the Sleeping Tomb.
A joyous occasion had prompted him to do so.
His space Teleportation Gate was finally complete.
He had installed the Teleportation Gate deep underground beneath the garrison, right next to the Sleeping Tomb.
The original underground space had been further excavated and reinforced, and it was now heavily guarded day and night by units of Black Corpses and Purple Zombies.
Whether for guarding against potential spies from the outside world or for preventing any "surprises" that might emerge from the other end, placing the Teleportation Gate here was the safest option.
Normally, only Sea Song and Ginko Wrench were ever here. Aus, who handled logistics, would only visit occasionally. But today, with the news that the Teleportation Gate was finished, Lynch had made a rare trip from the Sleeping Tomb to the chamber next door.
The underground chamber was brightly lit.
The light from the Magic Lamps on the chamber’s four walls illuminated the entire space, leaving no blind spots—not even a single patch of coherent shadow. Anyone trying to use shadow powers to infiltrate this place would find no foothold.
Inside the chamber, Sea Song Xiyin, Ginko Wrench, Aus, and Lynch were all gathered—a rare occasion.
In the middle of the room, the newly completed Teleportation Gate stood at the heart of a massive Space Magic Array, continuously emitting mysterious spatial fluctuations.
The main body of the gate was constructed from a dark metal, its surface covered in faintly glowing Mithril Runes. The stone disk core was embedded in the center of the lintel. Its cornerstones connected to the diagram of the Space Magic Array inscribed on the floor, where numerous Magic Energy Crystals were embedded to power the Array.
Beside the Teleportation Gate, Sea Song and Ginko were performing the final checks, their expressions tense and focused.
"Final stabilizing Rune Core check complete."
"Spatial coordinates anchored. Energy circuit is clear."
"Core stone disk resonance is normal..."
Finally, Ginko nodded to Lynch. "My lord, it’s ready for activation."
Lynch’s spirits lifted. He immediately stepped forward, placed his palm on the activation Array on the side of the doorframe, and slowly infused it with his Mana.
A low hum echoed through the chamber.
As the hum grew, the runes on the gate’s frame lit up in sequence from bottom to top, and the "stone disk" at the center of the lintel began to rotate slowly.
When the entire Teleportation Gate was fully lit, the space within its frame suddenly twisted and warped.
Then, like the surface of a lake rippled by a gentle breeze, the space within the frame began to shimmer with watery undulations.
Beyond the ripples lay a profound darkness, as if connected to some unknown, distant land.
"It worked!" the goblin Ginko exclaimed, jumping up in excitement.
Sea Song also let out a sigh of relief, a smile gracing her lips.
A flicker of excitement lit up Lynch’s eyes as well.
A Teleportation Gate of his very own. This meant infinite possibilities.
But amidst his excitement, a practical problem presented itself.
The core of this Teleportation Gate had been dug out of a trash heap in a goblin lair. Who knew what it connected to on the other side?
’Is it a safe sanctuary, a Secret Realm rich with resources, or... a deathtrap fraught with danger?’
’Of course, since the gate on this side is functioning, the Array on the other side should also be usable. There’s risk, but it’s probably not completely off the charts.’
Even so, Lynch wasn’t about to scout it out with his face.
And so, quite naturally, Lynch’s gaze fell upon his currently rather shabby, yet still core, Tier One Skeleton Warrior—Bone Valor, the Witch Demon King.
This was the most senior unit in Lynch’s command, a model of dedication and self-sacrifice.
Lynch cleared his throat and patted Bone Valor’s scapula. "Bone Valor, my friend, the organization has another glorious and difficult mission for you. Go check out what’s on the other side of that gate."
Bone Valor’s Soul Fire flickered. Gripping its Bone Knife, it strode proudly and valiantly into the shimmering, mirror-like surface of the portal.
