Chapter 239: Chapter 111: My Elegy Mom Is a Little Too Strong

’This ant is at death’s door, and it still dares to provoke me?!’

"Heh heh... An interesting little bug." It curled its lips into a savage, cruel smile. "It seems you still don’t understand what you’re about to face. Before I devour your soul, I will be sure to ’entertain’ you properly. I’ll let you taste the feeling of Hellfire scorching your very soul, so you’ll understand what it means to wish for..."

However, before it could finish,

a languid, yet chillingly cold, female voice suddenly rang out.

"Whose soul are you planning to torture, Xiaola~~?"

"It’s been a while, and you’ve gotten... quite arrogant, haven’t you~"

As the voice emerged, the temperature of the surrounding space plummeted. Even the scorched, sulfuric stench of Hell that permeated the air seemed to be dispersed by an icy chill.

Before everyone’s astonished eyes, the space beside Lynch rippled like the surface of water.

A woman dressed in an ornate, classical court gown stepped gracefully out from the spatial ripples.

Her skin was as pale as snow and her face was exquisitely beautiful. She held an elegant parasol painted with pale flowers, her posture as graceful as a noble lady taking an afternoon stroll through her private garden.

She was none other than the renowned Demigod of the Netherworld—Lady Pale Elegy Victoria!

Her icy eyes swept over the Demon Refining Lord Ragnarash, a clear look of disdain in her gaze.

"P-Pale Elegy?!"

Upon recognizing the newcomer, Ragnarash’s arrogant and savage aura instantly froze. Even the Hellfire burning around its body seemed to stop for a moment, involuntarily shrinking back.

Almost instinctively, it released the claws that were about to snatch Lynch’s soul. Then, swallowing hard, it spoke cautiously in a soft, hushed voice completely different from before.

"M-Milady Elegy, Your Excellency," it stammered, "I-I didn’t know this little... this young gentleman was under your protection. It’s a misunderstanding, a complete misunderstanding. I’ll leave now, right away. Do you think... it’s not too late for that?"

"Since you’ve come all this way~~" Pale Elegy covered her lips with a slender, silk-gloved hand and let out an elegant, soft laugh. "Why don’t you leave this little wisp of your soul behind as an apology?"

"No~" Ragnarash let out a roar of shock and fury.

It knew it was no match for this notoriously fearsome Demigod of the Netherworld, but it was confident that with its power, escaping wouldn’t be a problem.

The next instant,

the Hellfire around its body erupted with a great WHOOSH, reaching its peak intensity. It prepared to tear open space and forcibly sever its connection to the prime material plane, allowing this wisp of its soul to escape back to Hell.

"Fool."

Pale Elegy simply waved her hand casually.

There was no earth-shattering display of power, no brilliant flash of energy.

Instead, a formless, substanceless "deathly chill" that seemed capable of freezing the very life force of all things spread out instantly with her movement.

In the blink of an eye,

the towering Hellfire that had erupted from Ragnarash’s body froze as if someone had pressed pause. Then... it withered into pale, icy blossoms of flame.

Immediately after, a pale hand of death materialized out of thin air at the frozen Demon Refining Lord’s neck and gave it a light squeeze.

"Urk..."

A dark red soul, twisting and struggling, was forcefully plucked from the frozen shell!

Pale Elegy parted her pale lips and took a gentle breath, inhaling the wisp of soul.

"NO—!!!"

The soul let out a terrified wail, but it was utterly powerless to resist as it transformed into a streak of dark red light and was drawn into Pale Elegy’s mouth.

She closed her eyes slightly, a look of enjoyment gracing her pale, exquisitely beautiful face, as if she had just tasted a rare delicacy.

"Mmm... A soul filled with the taste of savagery and flame. Although it was just a wisp, it’s barely enough to get caught in my teeth." She opened her eyes and licked her lips, seeming not quite satisfied.

The action was clearly unsettling, yet because of her beauty and poise, it held a strange, bewitching allure.

Watching this, Lynch couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.

’My patron, Elegy, is way too strong... and way too scary.’

After enjoying her little dessert, Pale Elegy’s elegant gaze turned to the heavily injured and weakened Mijanar at his side.

Seeing this, Avril immediately rushed over, trembling, and spread her arms to shield Mijanar, even though her face was pale and her body was shaking slightly.

Pale Elegy watched her with great interest, then glanced at Lynch beside her. She didn’t get angry; instead, she chuckled softly.

Seeing this, Lynch sighed to himself.

’What have I gotten myself into...’

He obediently bowed to Pale Elegy and said, "Thank you for saving me, Lady Elegy. However, this Angel, Mijanar, has saved me before. She descended today to protect us. I ask that you... please spare her."

Pale Elegy’s eyes, which seemed to see right through to one’s soul, fell upon Lynch. The corners of her lips curled into a teasing smile. "Oh? Little mouse, are you... begging me?"

Lynch glanced at Avril, who was so nervous she looked like she was about to cry. He sighed helplessly and nodded. "Yes. Consider it me, begging you."

"Hee hee hee~~" Pale Elegy let out a series of delighted little laughs, as if she had just heard something amusing. "Since you’ve gone so far as to beg, I suppose I’ll make an exception and grant your request, just this once."

As she spoke, her gaze swept over Avril again, the amusement in her eyes deepening. "Tsk tsk~ Isn’t this that little Holy Light fledgling from last time? Tsk tsk tsk, my favorite kind of drama is watching one of our Undead System boys lure one of these little Holy Light fledglings until their heart is all aflutter and their convictions start to waver~~ The last time I saw a scene like this was... hmm, the last time."
