Chapter 238: Chapter 111: My Mother Elegy Is a Bit Strong

She relentlessly swung her Holy Flame Longsword, unleashing one brilliant slash of light after another, but those majestic attacks were easily blocked and swatted aside by the giant palms of fire conjured by Ragnarash.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Deafening explosions echoed endlessly.

The sky became a battlefield where Holy Light and Hellfire clashed. The turbulent, dissipating energy spread like a ravaging storm. In just a short while, the surrounding ruins and open fields were engulfed in raging flames, as if a natural disaster had struck.

Mijanar’s true form is that of a Tier Thirteen Angel, equivalent to a mortal Sub-Saint, while the Demon Refining Lord Ragnarash is already Tier Fifteen, equal to a half-step Legend. This disparity in rank and power naturally extended to their projections.

The moment they clashed, Mijanar was immediately put at a complete disadvantage. She could only rely on her nimble Body Technique to weave around him and the defensive power of her Holy Light shield to desperately hold on, yet she remained in constant peril.

「Meanwhile.」

After being pulled behind the corner of a city wall by Lynch, Avril looked back.

Seeing the Lord Angel in the sky completely suppressed and barely holding on, her beautiful eyes instantly filled with tears, and boundless guilt welled up from their depths. "It’s all my fault... I shouldn’t have summoned the Lord Guardian. I’ve doomed her..."

"Alright, stop blaming yourself for everything," Lynch said irritably. "As an Angel, fighting demons from Hell is her job. Besides, your Guardian Angel is just a projection. At worst, her true form’s soul will take some damage. She’ll be fine after a period of rest."

While "comforting" Avril, Lynch’s gaze was fixed intently on the fierce battle in the sky.

’Both the Angel and the Demon Lord could be considered top-tier combatants.’

’Among conventional summoned Undead Units, only bone dragons could compare to them.’

’Of course, that’s just for conventional units.’

’If I could get my hands on something like a Death Angel, or had a chance to refine a demon from Hell into a zombie unit, they would also have incredible combat strength. Of course, to do that, I’d need to get at least one of their avatars or their true body.’

’Projections, by their very nature, aren’t made of flesh and blood. Even if they’re destroyed, they can’t be converted into Undead Units.’

Just as Lynch was lost in his wild thoughts...

Suddenly—

BANG!

A muffled, thunder-like explosion boomed from the sky.

Mijanar’s shield of light finally gave way, pierced by a spear forged from Hellfire. Immediately after, a gigantic, fiery palm slammed viciously into her chest plate!

"Argh!"

Mijanar let out a pained groan and plummeted from the sky like a bird with a broken wing, crashing hard into an open area not far from where Lynch and Avril were hiding and kicking up a huge cloud of dust. ℯℯ𝑙.

It was obvious Mijanar landing near them was no coincidence; the Purgatory Lord had done it intentionally.

He might have been too busy to bother with other ants for now, but he would absolutely not let Lynch and Avril go.

That was also why Lynch hadn’t dragged Avril very far when they fled—to avoid leading the danger to their other companions.

’To be honest, I’m not afraid in the slightest. I haven’t seen Elegy make a move yet, but since she’s awake, I’m sure she has her own plans.’

At that moment, the dust in the ruins ahead settled.

Mijanar’s figure was revealed once more.

She was half-kneeling on the ground, her Holy Light Armor shattered to pieces, revealing her damaged Spirit Body underneath. The Holy Flame Longsword was stuck in the ground beside her, its light flickering erratically. The pair of wings on her back had also become much more illusory—a clear sign she had suffered heavy damage.

In the sky, the Demon Refining Lord Ragnarash leisurely flapped his massive, membranous wings, descending from the heavens to hover a dozen meters or so above the ground.

"Tsk tsk, can’t take it anymore?"

He looked down on the battered Angel below, as well as Lynch and Avril nearby, a taunting, cat-and-mouse expression on his face.

"What I love to watch most is the sight of self-proclaimed righteous beings like you squirming in fear, despair, and struggle. The more a soul is like that, the more delicious it is..."

His enormous, burning eyes suddenly fixed on Lynch and Avril. He said excitedly, "I’ve decided... I’m going to slowly savor the souls of you two little whelps right in front of this little fledgling Angel, letting her collapse in pain and self-reproach. And then, I’ll properly enjoy her... the main course."

"No, stop!" Mijanar cried out, a mix of fury and alarm. She struggled to get up but was struck in the shoulder by a wisp of dark red Hellfire casually flicked by Ragnarash, causing her to stumble and fall again.

The Holy Light around her body fluctuated violently, on the verge of dissipating completely.

Seeing this, Ragnarash ignored her and turned his interested gaze to Lynch, extending a claw and pointing it lightly at him.

In that instant, Lynch felt an irresistible pulling force that made his mind go hazy.

The sensation was like an invisible hook trying to forcibly rip his soul from his mortal shell.

Avril, her face pale with fright, tightly gripped Lynch’s arm.

However, despite being in a desperate situation where his soul was about to be torn from his body, Lynch’s face showed none of the fear and despair the Demon Refining Lord expected. Instead... a mocking smirk curved his lips.

Hm?

Ragnarash’s expression faltered slightly, and rage immediately flared in his heart.
