The two of them reached the elevator, one after the other. It was only then that Shen Yanzhi grabbed Jiang Li’s wrist. "Honey, don’t be mad anymore!"

No wonder they say angry women are so hard to handle. If he hadn’t been waiting for the elevator, he probably wouldn’t have been able to catch Jiang Li.

Jiang Li was already embarrassed, and Shen Yanzhi just kept calling her "Honey."

She immediately clapped a hand over Shen Yanzhi’s mouth. "Alright, that’s enough. Stop talking."

Shen Yanzhi blinked innocently, and upon seeing this, Jiang Li couldn’t help but turn her face away.

’Form is emptiness, emptiness is form,’ she chanted silently in her mind.

’I’ll never admit I got carried away just now, too.’

’A handsome face is a dangerous thing!!!’

On the way there, no matter what Shen Yanzhi said, Jiang Li remained unmoved, as if she had transcended the mortal world.

When they got to the mall, they bought a pile of fresh clothes, slippers, and toiletries for Jiang Bowen and Jing Shiyun.

A bit of light retail therapy instantly made her forget all about her earlier unpleasantness.

They say there’s nothing shopping can’t fix. And if there is, just go a few more times.

After all, sometimes spending money can be good for the mind and body.

On their way back from the shopping spree, they passed a flower shop, and Jiang Li had the owner put together a bouquet of roses.

No matter her age, no woman dislikes flowers, especially one who’s been injured.

Just because Jiang Bowen didn’t understand that, didn’t mean she didn’t either.

After buying the bouquet, she also picked up a fruit basket.

By the time the two of them returned, laden with bags big and small, Jing Shiyun was already asleep.

Hearing the commotion, Jiang Bowen made a "shushing" gesture. "Your mom’s asleep. Keep it down."

Then he saw the many bags in Shen Yanzhi’s hands and couldn’t help but frown. "Didn’t I tell you two not to go shopping?"

When Jing Shiyun woke up and saw all this, she would get anxious and upset again.

Jiang Li placed the flowers she was holding on the bedside table. "Oh, come on! We just passed the mall on the way back and picked them up! It saves you an extra trip, too!"

Jiang Bowen disagreed. "We have more clothes at home than we can even wear, and you still bought more. You really treat money like it’s nothing."

Jiang Li grinned and said, "But aren’t we moving into a new house now? So what if we have a lot of clothes? We still won’t have enough to fill a walk-in closet."

Seeing Jiang Bowen frown, Jiang Li spoke up again. "Besides, I’ve already bought them, and the tags have been cut off. There’s no returning them now."

This was a deliberate move to prevent Jing Shiyun from making them return everything. Right after paying, Jiang Li had the sales associate cut off all the tags and even had the clothes washed and dried.

After all, since they were going to be worn, it was better to wash new clothes first anyway.

Jiang Bowen shook his head helplessly. "You little spendthrift."

Jiang Li walked over to Jiang Bowen and patted his shoulder. "Don’t worry, your daughter has money."

Shen Yanzhi chimed in at the right moment. "That’s right, Dad. Don’t refuse. Besides, it wasn’t that much money."

Jiang Bowen sighed. "You two..."

Shen Yanzhi immediately changed the subject. "By the way, Dad, after Mom has her surgery, are we going to need to hire a caregiver?"

With Jiang Li pregnant, she definitely wouldn’t be able to take care of Jing Shiyun.

He himself was willing to look after Jing Shiyun, but he figured Jiang Bowen and Jing Shiyun wouldn’t be comfortable with that.

But it was also impossible to let Jiang Bowen take care of Jing Shiyun by himself 24/7, so hiring a caregiver was the best option.

Jiang Bowen immediately stated his position. "Hire a caregiver? What for? Xiao Li and I can just take turns."

It’s not like his arms and legs were broken. And with Jiang Li around, where was the need for a caregiver?

Jiang Li timidly raised her hand. "Dad, I have to confess something to you."

Jiang Bowen furrowed his brow. "Confess what?"

Jiang Li didn’t answer right away. Instead, she laid out a condition. "You have to promise me first that you won’t tell Mom, and you won’t interfere too much in my life."

Jiang Bowen nodded. "Fine, I promise. Go ahead and tell me."

Jiang Li placed a hand on her belly, then held up one finger. "I’m pregnant. A little over a month."

Jiang Bowen’s eyes widened in disbelief. "What did you just say?"

Shen Yanzhi immediately wrapped an arm around Jiang Li’s waist. "Dad, you heard her right. Xiao Li is pregnant. You’re going to be a grandpa."

Jiang Bowen shot to his feet and walked over to Jiang Li. He reached out, wanting to touch her belly, but then hesitated, afraid he might use too much force and bump or hurt her.

His voice trembled. "I’m going to be a grandpa?"

No wonder Shen Yanzhi had mentioned hiring a caregiver. So that was the reason.

At first, he had thought it was because Shen Yanzhi was unwilling to look after Jing Shiyun!
