Chapter 182: Chapter 181: The Maternal Uncle is Supreme

The DNA test report for Ge Yunlun’s son from the Capital City arrived as scheduled on Wednesday morning.

The report showed that the DNA samples extracted from the child’s thigh, calf, and the sole of his foot were different from the DNA samples extracted from his hair, buccal swab, and blood.

The test data also indicated that the two sets of DNA showed the kind of kinship found between biological brothers.

The child was indeed a male-male chimera of fraternal twins.

The conclusion of the test report let Yu Zhiming breathe a huge sigh of relief.

To be honest, he wasn’t nearly as confident as Teacher Qi and was terrified the facts would prove him wrong.

Yu Zhiming read through the digital copy of the DNA report on his teacher’s phone one more time, let out a deliberately exaggerated sigh, and handed the phone back to Teacher Qi.

"Teacher, we made some pretty bold claims at the Ge family’s place. I was really worried this DNA report would show something different."

"Now everything’s fine. Nothing to worry about, hehe..."

Qi Yue scoffed lightly. "Zhiming, sometimes you’re just not confident enough. You’re always saying things like ’something feels off’ or ’it’s a suspected case of...’"

"To become a widely recognized medical authority, the first requirement is confidence. You must have unshakable faith in your own judgment."

Yu Zhiming scratched his head and chuckled. "Teacher, it’s just that I don’t have enough experience or exposure. I haven’t earned the right to be that confident yet."

After a pause, he changed the subject. "Teacher, it’s time to remove Luo Qing’s drainage tube. Do you want to..."

Qi Yue waved a dismissive hand. "That’s a minor procedure. You can handle it by yourself..."

Dressed in a sterile isolation gown, Yu Zhiming entered the sterile ward. He saw Luo Qing, who turned her head to "look" at him as she heard him approach.

In just five or six short days, Luo Qing had visibly thinned, losing a noticeable amount of weight.

Her cheekbones had become more prominent.

"Luo Qing, I’ve come to remove the drainage tube. By evening, you can be transferred to a regular ward."

Luo Qing nodded gently.

Yu Zhiming rolled up a wad of gauze and placed it in Luo Qing’s mouth. "This is going to hurt a little," he warned. "You’ll have to bear with it."

Luo Qing nodded again.

Yu Zhiming detached the miniature pressure pump from the drainage tube and peeled off the surgical tape on her forehead...

Then, he began to slowly withdraw the drainage tube.

Never trust a doctor when they say, "This will only hurt a little." Their perception of pain is vastly different from an ordinary person’s.

As long as it’s within the limits of human endurance, a doctor will classify it as "a little pain."

Therefore, the moment Yu Zhiming started pulling on the tube, every muscle in Luo Qing’s body tensed instantly. Her body went rigid, and her face contorted into a terrifying, grotesque mask of pain.

Sweat instantly beaded on her face, pouring down like rain.

Her hands clenched the thin blanket, twisting it into a crumpled flower.

In truth, Yu Zhiming knew this process would be extraordinarily painful. Seeing Luo Qing’s state, he felt her agony as if it were his own.

But he couldn’t speed up; doing so would risk additional damage to her brain.

He had to maintain a slow, steady pace to withdraw it.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhiming had to keep a constant watch on Luo Qing’s vital signs.

Her heart rate had already shot up to one-thirty, one-forty...

Some thirty seconds later, the instant Yu Zhiming fully extracted the drainage tube, he saw Luo Qing’s body go completely limp, as if every bone had been removed.

Her facial expression slackened, softening...

After Yu Zhiming finished dressing the wound near her eye, he noted that all her vital signs had returned to their normal ranges.

He removed the mostly-soaked gauze from Luo Qing’s mouth and gently wiped the sweat from her face.

"Luo Qing, the worst part is over. Now comes the long road of recovery and waiting."

"You should be able to get a good night’s sleep tonight."

Luo Qing’s lips moved, and she said weakly, "Dr. Yu, thank you."

"Um... could my aunt come in?"

"Um... I... I sweated so much just now. I feel really uncomfortable and want to change my clothes."

Yu Zhiming saw a bashful blush creep onto Luo Qing’s cheeks and immediately understood.

When enduring extreme pain, a person can sometimes lose control over certain bodily functions.

Like the bladder, for instance...

Yu Zhiming hadn’t even made it back to the main office when he heard the voice of that rascal, Fu Xiaobo.

"Sister Zhou, have some of these sweet potato strips. My mom sends my uncle a care package every two weeks."

"My uncle doesn’t need any of this stuff!"

"Sister Zhou, my uncle’s a total foodie. Let’s just say, when it comes to snacks at home, Xiaoxue and I are always second in line after him..."

Yu Zhiming couldn’t take it anymore. He walked up and gave Fu Xiaobo a sharp flick on the head.

"Ow! ...Ah, Uncle, you’re back."

As soon as Fu Xiaobo saw it was Yu Zhiming, he immediately started fawning over him, guiding him to his desk chair.

"Uncle, the promotional flyers are ready! I brought them over as soon as they were done. See what you think!"

Yu Zhiming took the stack of colorful flyers from Fu Xiaobo. The first thing he saw, right in a prominent spot, was a picture of himself in his white doctor’s coat.

"Junbo Renovation & Design: Superior quality you can trust—just like the amazing medical skills of Dr. Yu."

The photo, combined with that slogan, made Yu Zhiming’s heart pound and his blood boil.

"What the hell did you design?!"

Fu Xiaobo put on an obedient expression. "Uncle, didn’t you tell us to hurry up and make some promotional flyers so you could help us hand them out?"

"We have zero reputation right now. The company is pathetically small and we don’t even have a proper office yet."

"Our one and only, and biggest, asset is your network and resources, Uncle."

"Sister Qingning said we should just be upfront about it..."

Yu Zhiming cut him off, his voice tinged with anger. "Was this Qingning’s idea? That girl..."

Fu Xiaobo chuckled sheepishly. "Sister Qingning just gave me the initial thought. The final decision was all me."

"I thought about it and she’s right. I’m your actual nephew, and you’re personally helping me with promotion, Uncle. We might as well be totally open about everything. It’s more straightforward."

Just then, Zhou Mo drifted over, holding one of the flyers. She read it aloud: "Sign a renovation and design contract with Junbo Renovation & Design and receive one voucher for a full family health screening, supervised by Dr. Yu Zhiming of Huashan Hospital."

"Note: Voucher is valid for a family of up to eight people. Transferable. No replacement if lost. Voucher will be honored regardless of holder."

"’Honored regardless of holder?!’" Yu Zhiming was even more furious.

"Uncle, let me explain..."

Fu Xiaobo quickly tried to placate him. "Uncle, you’re famous now! So many people want you to do their physicals, but they have no way to get an appointment."

"This health screening voucher gives them a reliable way to do that."

"If they don’t need any renovation work done themselves, they can refer someone who does, or they could even try to buy the voucher off someone else."

"This gives the voucher intrinsic value, which will help us attract even more clients."

Yu Zhiming asked icily, "Was this idea from that girl too?"

Fu Xiaobo flinched slightly and chuckled. "It was ultimately my decision, because I think it’s a great idea."

"Uncle, since you already decided to get involved and help me, you might as well go all in. Get in there and really sell it."

"What do you say, Uncle? Right?"

As he spoke, Fu Xiaobo sidled up and started massaging Yu Zhiming’s shoulders, trying to curry favor.

"Uncle, you basically raised me and Xiaoxue. We’re like your own kids."

Hearing this, Zhou Mo almost burst out laughing.

Yu Zhiming gritted his teeth. "Fu Xiaobo, have some damn shame! I’m only two years older than you!"

"Two years older and you’re still my uncle! My only uncle."

Fu Xiaobo said shamelessly, "They say a mother’s brother is the most important relative. Mom always said you’re the closest person in the world to me and Xiaoxue, Uncle."

"In the future, as long as we have food to eat, we’ll never let you go hungry or cold, Uncle."

Yu Zhiming gave him a contemptuous look. "Playing the mom card again? Aren’t you afraid she’ll come after you with a broom?"

Fu Xiaobo giggled. "Hey, whatever works. Besides, Mom’s not here, so I’m not scared."

Just then, Qiao Lei came over, holding out his phone.

"Dr. Yu, that family scheduled for the health screening is downstairs."

Yu Zhiming nodded. "Take them to an examination room."

He stood up, hesitated for a moment, then grabbed a few of the flyers.

Yu Zhiming’s expression turned serious. "Fu Xiaobo, if you actually land a job from this, you’d better do it perfectly."

Fu Xiaobo straightened up, his playful grin vanishing.

"Uncle, I’m determined to build a real brand and grow this business. I won’t do anything to sabotage my own foundation."

"And I definitely won’t do anything that would bring you shame, Uncle!"

"If I ever cut corners or do anything shady, you can break my legs..."
