STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1109: Part 2: The Screening Begins
Special Base (4th Zone)
Rosalie Rose went through the list. She then noticed the intense gaze of the elders. Frowning, she raised her head and looked toward them.
"We need privacy. If you don’t mind, you can leave. Once I’m done, I will call you," Rosalie said.
Hearing that, Elder Sandra said, "We don’t want to disturb you. We will leave."
After saying that, Elder Sandra led everyone outside. As they exited the meeting hall, the elders exchanged glances.
Elder Sandra said, "Send instructions to the members: no one should wander around the wilderness. The representative has arrived, so everyone needs to be on their best behavior."
Hearing that, the other elders agreed. Elder John thought about Jeremy Night. He could read the mindset of both the representative and her members, they were looking for S-Grade Talents right away.
He immediately caught Elder Smith’s gaze on him. John understood that both of them were thinking the same thing.
On the other hand, Elder Leah was talking to her friends. They were discussing who had a better chance of getting recruited.
Elder Carter listened to the elders nearby, though no one could tell what was going on in his mind.
They nodded to one another before departing for their offices. Once everyone else had cleared out, Elder Sandra left as well.
Soon, they were back in their offices. Some sat in groups, while others remained alone in their rooms. The elders seemed even more excited than the students.
Elder John sat alone in his office, pondering over the list. He did not know how many would be selected, as the quota changed every year.
If he was not mistaken, he expected at least ten people to be chosen. Still, he worried about Jeremy Night’s chances.
"If Jeremy isn’t noticed by the 3rd Zone representative, it will be even harder for him to get noticed by the 1st and 2nd Zone representatives," he muttered.
He also believed the Beast Taming Association was Jeremy Night’s best shot, since they focused solely on talent without minding other details.
Other organizations would consider many additional factors, including political connections and personal interests.
Meanwhile, a statement was issued by the office. A notification was sent directly to the devices of every member in the special base:
[All members are required to stay in the base. The representative from the 3rd Zone Beast Taming Association has arrived.]
The message was short, but word reached everyone quickly.
The first-, second and third-year students all received the news. The third-year students, who were Tier-7 Beast Tamers, were the most excited.
The S-Grade Talents were feeling especially confident. Even among the defensive and support types, hopes ran high.
Apart from them, the A-Grade Talents gathered among themselves.
They might not have possessed S-Grade Talents, but they were Tier-7 Beast Tamers nonetheless. They had earned spots on the leaderboards, with a few even breaking into the top 50.
A similar scene unfolded among the second-year students. Divided into their own circles, the second year S-Grade talents wanted to get recruited as well, though they faced stiffer competition from the third years.
As for the first years, who were only Tier-5 Beast Tamers, they were mostly interested in seeing who among the upperclassmen would be selected. They stood little chance themselves due to their lower tier.
Even so, not everyone shared that detached curiosity. Oscar Fletcher, Sarah, and a few others could not help but think of Jeremy Night.
They hate to admit it, they knew Jeremy had a solid shot. His prospects were especially bright after the stunt he had pulled off against a Tier-7 Beast Tamer.
Oscar envied Jeremy Night. He lacked both Jeremy’s impressive leaderboard records and the ability to replicate such close-quarters combat tricks, simply because he did not possess the Supreme Combat Body Talent.
Sarah, on the other hand, worried about something else entirely. She did not know why her family had not taken action yet. If Jeremy Night were selected, they would lose their chance to target him.
Room:
Jeremy read the message sent by the office. It confirmed that the arrivals were indeed from the Beast Taming Association.
Anticipation rose in his chest, though he kept his expectations grounded. He knew S-Grade Talents would take priority.
He also learned that only the representative from the 3rd Zone had arrived; those from the 1st and 2nd Zones would not appear until the coming weeks.
He figured his odds of catching the eye of the 3rd Zone representative were decent, and he remained hopeful.
Meeting Hall:
She needed to select fifteen people. After reviewing the profiles, she put together an optimal group of fifteen beast tamers. Because her faction had arrived first, they enjoyed the widest selection.
Rosalie Rose turned toward her subordinates. They were the cream of the crop among Tier-8 Beast Tamers, and many stood a strong chance of reaching Tier 9 just like her.
"Have you chosen your top fifteen?" she asked.
"Yes, I’ve put together a strong mix of S-Grade Talents," one of the female beast tamers said. Her name was Rene, and she was the strongest among the women.
"We can’t select only S-Grade talents, so I picked the best among the A-Grades," one of the male beast tamers chimed in. His name was Ken, the strongest among the men.
Both of their opinions carried weight, as they held the highest potential to become Tier-9 Beast Tamers in the future.
Rosalie nodded and collected their devices first. She was planning to go through the list of other members next. Their inputs were important as well.
But she was curious to look at the list formed by these 2 Beast Tamers first. She wanted to know their thoughts.
Setting her own device on the table, she began reviewing Rene’s list. Her eyebrows raised in surprise.
Rene was not only the strongest female fighter in the group, but also its premier support-type specialist and, true to form, many of the recruits she had selected possessed support-type talents as well.
