STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1096: Back at the Special Base
City A (Wilderness)
Corvin and Garran found themselves in difficult circumstances.
The count of Tier-8 beasts was greater than they thought. If they took action right now, they would be attacked by the other Tier-8 beasts.
Garran had decided not to take action. Right now, these beasts were hiding in the unknown secret land. So, they still had a chance to report to Governor Evelina.
One of them had decided to go back. Corvin made his return. He rushed back to the City Lord’s office.
They might have had little chance. If the Tier-8 beasts had gathered, then a Tier-9 beast was making some big plan.
Meanwhile,
City Governor Evelina was in her office. She was not done with her work. She had been waiting for the reports as well. She stood up from her seat and walked out of the office.
She came to the balcony. Her gaze turned towards the wilderness. She tried to look beyond the horizon. At night, the place looked grim.
She knew the wilderness covered in the darkness of night was hiding incredible danger.
Just then, she saw a black dot coming towards the city gate. She recognized the person. Seeing that Corvin was coming back, she knew something was up.
Swoosh!
In the blink of an eye, he returned to the office. He saw City Governor Evelina standing on the balcony.
He appeared next to her. His forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat. Corvin didn’t waste time. He briefed her. Knowing that a few Tier-8 beasts were waiting to ambush, she was on high alert.
She sent a message to the important people in the city. They were the heads of the various Beast Taming Forces. They were Tier-8 Beast Tamers as well.
She started giving instructions over the phone. She first discussed matters with the Beast Taming Association Head and the Dean of the Central University. They decided to send a small team to the wilderness.
The team would be led by Corvin. Then, the following teams would enter the wilderness at short intervals. They would do this so as not to alert the Tier-8 beasts hiding in the unknown land.
Time passed.
Small beast-taming teams entered the wilderness one after another. They were all four-man teams made up of Tier-8 Beast Tamers.
They had received instructions on what to do next.
City Governor Evelina and the other Beast Taming Heads had agreed not to take action until the Tier-8 corrupted beasts tried to cross the border.
...
The following day,
The Tier-8 Beast Tamers found a place to hide. They had been hiding since last night. They were keeping an eye on the movements of the Tier-8 beasts.
These beasts were busy sending the Tier-6 and Tier-7 beasts across the border.
Some of them took the chance to launch sneak attacks on these beasts, so that they could not put pressure on the Tier-6 and Tier-7 Beast Tamers in the hotspots.
But their actions had somehow alerted the Tier-8 beasts. They knew it was difficult for the human side to confront all these beasts.
So, someone was helping them from behind. The Tier-8 beasts decided to wait and see. Thus, the number of higher-tier beasts crossing the border had reduced.
This brought some relief to the Beast Tamers who were fighting in those hotspots. But they didn’t know that Tier-8 Beast Tamers were helping from behind the scenes.
City office
City Governor Evelina and the heads of the various forces had lost sleep due to the disturbances in the wilderness.
They received recent reports that the inflow of beasts had reduced. It brought both good news and bad news to them.
The good news was that the flow of the beasts was controlled. The Beast Tamers would clear the rest of the beasts at a faster rate.
The bad news was that they didn’t know how long the pause would continue.
City Governor Evelina had expected the outcome. She was now looking forward to the next move of the Tier-9 beasts.
Unlike in other zones, the Tier-9 beasts in this zone would take time. They knew about the top forces of the human side from the Human Alliance.
The last thing they wanted was to be driven away by the powerhouses sent by the alliance.
...
Beast Taming Association
Jeremy Night exited the Beast Taming Association the next morning. He had used the facilities of the Beast Taming Association to get ready.
Before leaving, he bid goodbye to the day-shift admin staff. He then headed to the airport right away.
While traveling in a cab, he sensed something wrong with the wilderness. He had seen the City Governor that day. Since then, nothing had happened, but his instincts told him that something was brewing in the wilderness.
[Why don’t we go to the wilderness?]
Stella asked the question after a long silence. She didn’t know why Jeremy Night was walking away from the challenge.
Jeremy Night could feel her emotions.
"I’m going back to the special base. The one-week time given by the elders is over. We will fight against the corrupted beasts in the special base wilderness," Jeremy Night said to her.
"If City A ever needs help in the wilderness, I will be back," he added.
Hearing that, Stella fell silent. She was convinced. She knew that Jeremy wouldn’t back away from the fight.
After arriving at the airport, he exited the cab and paid the fare to the driver. Then, he made his way into the terminal.
He spent 15 minutes booking his ticket and began to wait in the waiting area.
Buzz!
Not long after, his device buzzed. He picked up the device and saw the contact name. The person who was calling him was none other than Elder John.
He answered the call right away. Elder John started asking him about the breakthrough. Jeremy had forgotten to report to them.
His mouth twitched. Next, he broke the good news to Elder John.
"Elder, I broke the limit a few days back. I have become a Tier-4 Beast Tamer," Jeremy replied.
Elder John said, "I inquired about it from the Manager himself. I thought you would come back right away."
Hearing that, Jeremy apologized for the late reply. He told him that he had been busy stabilizing his foundation and adapting to the new strength.
Elder John was not offended. He understood that Jeremy Night didn’t want to waste the opportunity to practice inside the special practice room.
John then told him to return safely. He would discuss the rest of the matters once Jeremy Night was back. Elder John then ended the call.
20 minutes later,
The special flight to the special base and the 5th Zone arrived. He and a few other passengers were ready to go.
He followed the others out to the runway. The special flight was parked in its spot, its entry door open.
Next, the passengers and Jeremy Night showed their boarding passes before going inside the flight.
Everyone went to their seats and sat down. Jeremy, as usual, got a window seat.
Shortly afterwards,
The special flight departed. Because everyone had arrived, there was no need to wait for others.
When the flight was in mid-air, Jeremy Night’s gaze fell toward the horizon. He could not guess what was going to happen there.
On top of that, the sheer size of City A told him that City A was not weak. They likely had a higher number of high-tier beast tamers.
So, he stopped worrying about it. The flight left the airspace of City A.
Several hours later,
The special flight arrived at the special base. It was evening. The flight slowly landed on the ground.
A few minutes later,
Jeremy Night stepped onto the ground. He started walking towards the administration building. Now that he was here, he could feel the change in the environment.
[Natural energy is weak here.]
Jeremy Night heard the voice.
"Don’t worry, I will try to enter the top three zones very soon. The natural energy there is going to be different. Even better than the 4th Zone," Jeremy Night said to her.
Hearing that, Stella grew more hopeful about the top three zones. She liked the dense, rich natural energy in the special practice room.
She had even enjoyed the natural energy environment in City A.
Jeremy Night came to the administration office. He saw the elders behind the desk. He even spotted Elder Smith.
Last time, he hadn’t seen him. He walked up to the desk.
Gasp!
A low exclamation rang out.
The other elders saw Jeremy Night. They immediately saw through his aura.
"He broke through!"
"He is a Tier-4 Beast Tamer now," one of the elders commented.
The other elders started saying the same thing.
"He made it before the recruitment. Don’t know whether the representatives will select him," a female elder said.
Elder Smith was among them as well. He had heard about Jeremy Night’s training from Elder John. Now, he understood the reason for it.
"The young man has become a Tier-4 Beast Tamer successfully," Elder Smith thought.
