STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1097: A Serious Conversation
Special Base (4th Zone)
Jeremy Night stood before the counter. He could see that the elders were looking at him. They were visibly surprised.
"Jeremy Night, you have done it. Now you have more chances to enter the top three zones," Elder Smith said with a smile.
The other elders nearby heard him. This time, they really couldn’t dismiss Jeremy Night. The young man’s strength was equal to that of the first-year students.
They knew that the young man could fight across tiers. He had achieved good ranks on the leaderboard, so they were silent now.
Jeremy Night then spoke a few words before deciding to leave. After exiting the building, he made his way toward the accommodation building.
Elder Smith and the others watched the young man leave. They knew that the upcoming days would be interesting.
At the same time, Elder Smith sent a message to Elder John.
A few minutes later,
Jeremy Night entered the room. He shut the door and went back to bed to sleep. He forgot to send a reply back to Elder John.
The following day,
Jeremy Night woke up from his sleep. After getting out of bed, he started doing his morning routine.
He noticed Stella was resting inside the mental zone. He didn’t disturb her. While he was doing his routine, his device rang again.
Hearing that, Jeremy stopped what he was doing before picking up the device. He then checked the messages.
The messages were sent by Elder John. He opened them one by one to read them. He understood that Elder John didn’t want him to enter the wilderness right away.
Elder Sandra might want to see him. So he sent a reply back, saying that he would be there in the afternoon.
He got a reply a couple of seconds later. Elder John agreed to it. Jeremy then put away the device and resumed his routine.
He spent an hour on his routine. Right before he decided to enter the practice room, he saw movement inside the mental zone.
He paid attention and saw that Stella was awake.
Stella checked out her surroundings. She then noticed that Jeremy Night was about to enter the practice room.
[Are you going to enter the practice room?] she asked.
"Yes, I’m going to practice now. And don’t worry. I’ll take one or two days off a week to go back to City A," Jeremy said to her.
He could tell that Stella disliked the natural energy here. He then shook his head before going inside the practice room.
...
Meeting Hall
Forenoon,
Elder Sandra was in the meeting hall. She was all alone in the hall. She needed some time to contemplate.
It was because she had gotten a call from a higher-up who worked at the Human Alliance. The call was about recruitment.
There was a change in the plans. Not all the representatives were going to come.
The ongoing situation in the top three zones was such that the representatives didn’t have time to leave for the recruitment together. Their work schedules were not the same.
Some had less free time while others didn’t have any free time at all. She had thought that, for the time being, the recruitment process might be delayed further.
But a higher-up had given her another surprise.
He told her that people from the Beast Taming Association were going to visit the special base first. It was not clear whether representatives from the first, second, and third zones would come.
It was also possible for the Beast Taming Association to send one grand elder to represent all three zones, so the higher-up was not sure either.
Compared to other top forces, the Beast Taming Association had more members. Almost all the Beast Tamers in the human zones were their members.
So they had a higher number of higher-tier Beast Tamers as elders. They had elders working in shifts, so the elders had time to spare even under the ongoing situation.
The higher-up told her that people from the Beast Taming Association would be the first force to arrive.
They could visit the special base in one or two days. The higher-up had called her to give her a heads-up.
Now, Elder Sandra was confused. She had hoped that the recruitment would be a useful setup, but she didn’t expect the news from the higher-ups to change everything.
If the representatives from the forces were to come alone, then their recruitment process could be different. She didn’t know whether she should recommend someone.
There were talented Beast Tamers on her list, but they needed a recommendation from her side-including Jeremy Night.
Jeremy Night had become a Tier-4 Beast Tamer. It was good news to her. She might not have to try hard to convince them.
As long as the representatives looked at his strength and the leaderboard rankings, Jeremy Night had a good chance of being selected.
So she stopped worrying about him. Instead, she began to think about the others. Right then, her device buzzed.
She picked up her device and saw the name of the caller. The person was none other than Elder John.
She answered the call and learned that he and Jeremy Night were ready to come. So she told them to come to the meeting hall.
She was going to advise Jeremy Night.
Shortly afterward,
Jeremy Night and Elder John left the place. They headed toward the meeting hall.
When they got there, they saw Elder Sandra alone in the meeting hall.
Seeing that, both of them were shocked. They hadn’t expected Elder Sandra to arrive so early.
Elder Sandra’s gaze fell on Jeremy Night. She immediately saw through Jeremy Night’s strength.
A wide smile appeared on her face. Her tense brows relaxed.
"You didn’t disappoint me," she said.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night felt relieved. It was all thanks to Stella. She hadn’t wasted the opportunity to practice inside the special practice room.
On the other hand, Elder John raised his eyebrows. He knew that Elder Sandra wouldn’t come to the meeting hall unless something important had happened.
Either she would ponder alone or summon everyone for the meeting. Right now, he thought one of those had happened.
Elder Sandra then collected her thoughts.
She said, "I’m happy for you for another reason as well. Representatives of the Beast Taming Association from the top three zones will come in one or two days."
A storm set off in his heart.
"It’s so soon," Elder John commented.
He had expected the news to arrive in a week. So, he had thought Jeremy Night had enough time for the breakthrough.
If Jeremy Night hadn’t broken through, then he would have missed the chance.
Jeremy Night didn’t know what to say. He hadn’t expected the news to come so soon, because he was thinking about going to the wilderness.
He had planned to fight against the Tier-6 Corrupted Beasts along with Stella. Stella was also listening to the conversation.
At this point, she knew that the top three zones of the human side were rich in natural energy. She couldn’t wait to go there.
Elder Sandra gave them a minute to digest the information.
She then said, "Since you are a Tier-4 Beast Tamer now, you have better chances than the second-years."
"If the representatives show interest in recruiting second-years, then you can show your strength as well," she added.
Jeremy nodded to her. Compared to other forces, the Beast Taming forces didn’t have that much preference.
As long as the Beast Tamer was talented, they would recruit that person. Not only that, but he was already one of the members like the others.
Recently, he had been given a golden card. He didn’t know whether that information would appear or not.
Elder Sandra then gave a few more pieces of advice. She knew that Jeremy Night had come from the 5th Zone, but his original base was the 14th Zone.
He had gotten into the 10th Zone through recruitment. From there, he climbed up to the 5th Zone and reached here.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Night listened to her advice. He knew that both elders were experienced, so it was useful to him.
Elder John was standing there as well. He was glad that Elder Sandra was giving valuable advice.
He thought that if the representatives were here for third-year students who were Tier-7 Beast Tamers, the young man wouldn’t get a chance.
But if they were here for the second-year students who were Tier-6 Beast Tamers, then Jeremy had a good chance.
"Also, you have to be wary of their attitude as well. Some of the people in the top three zones look down upon those from the lower zones," she said.
Elder John thought it was most of them. But he thought it was better to let the young man face reality.
It wasn’t good for him to have resistance toward the top three zones. The top three zones were richer in resources.
Twenty minutes later,
The meeting ended. Jeremy Night walked out of the meeting hall alone. Elder Sandra had something else to discuss with Elder John.
He guessed there was going to be a big meeting next with all the elders.
