Chapter 2192: Chapter 2192: Moon Bay and the Elves

Holding the cat, Shard tried to exhibit his sincerity, Miss Danester sighed slightly:

"Do you know what you’re talking about? The Demon of Misfortune has never been recorded as being sealed since any documentation began; we don’t even know what its true form is. Defeating the one who seals it in any era would qualify them to be written into history books. Even having a statue on the square outside this library wouldn’t be an exaggeration. Shard, are you clear-headed?"

"I’m very clear-headed and confident. You know me, Miss Danester, haven’t I been continually creating miracles until now?"

Shard felt a bit arrogant after he said that. But he didn’t know that the librarian in front of him didn’t consider it boasting; she merely looked concernedly at her student:

"You don’t need to take everything upon yourself; it will make your life tiring. You’re only in your twenties, at this age..."

"Some things must be done by me."

Shard stopped stroking Mia, causing the slightly dissatisfied cat to raise her head, gazing at Shard and the red-haired woman for a moment before the latter reluctantly nodded:

"Alright, at least you still remember to seek my help now and not tell me after you’ve solved it. So, what help can I offer you? Surely you came for more than just to inform me you’re undertaking something big, right?"

"Exactly, to confuse the demon, the decisive battle site must be chosen in a city where fate is chaotic."

"You mean Tobesk?"

She speculated, and Shard immediately shook his head.

"Why would you think that? Moon Bay, yes, it’s the city where The Chosen One will soon appear. Now that Emilia and the others have just left Tobesk, I’m not sure where the academy will arrange for them to go next, so I’d like to ask you to change their destination."

Miss Danester nodded:

"It’s a bit troublesome, given that The Chosen One is due to appear there, but it’s not impossible. Please wait, I’ll first inquire about the academy’s newly arranged destination for Miss Sianod."

After all, Emilia isn’t her student, nor does she belong to the Academy of Library Management, so Miss Danester didn’t know how the academy had arranged it; she had too many things to handle daily and couldn’t care for everyone.

Among the papers piled on the coffee table in front of the sofa set was a small bell, and Miss Danester gently shook it twice. With the crisp sound of the bell, a black-haired girl in academy uniform quickly approached from between the bookshelves, her eyes alluringly in different colors:

"Miss Danester!"

The robes of different professions were similar; since the founding of Saint Byrons, Miss Feliana had considered that students from different professions might group together and become hostile due to differences between the academies. Therefore, the regulation was established from then on that academy robes would vary only by grade. This girl summoned by the bell had a silver-trimmed cuff representing her position in the Inner Ring, First Ring, which is the Five Rings Academy.

"Send this to the ’Student Affairs Office’s Internship Office’, asking Ms. Heratris to respond to me immediately."

A letter flew out from beneath the pile of books on the coffee table, ink automatically appearing on it, a type of Arcane Technique called Mind Writing, which Dorothy was also skilled at. Then the letter entered an envelope and flew to the Five Rings girl.

She took the envelope and quickly turned and walked back into the bookshelves, and at this time Miss Danester also picked up her tea cup:

"It will take about ten to twenty minutes. Demon... tell me about your investigation in Moon Bay."

The two began chatting idly, with Shard mentioning how he and his friends entered the sewer to search for clues, and later encountered a black cat with a wish. He didn’t elaborate on how he allowed that cat to see its mother, but he portrayed the sea under the dusky sunset in detailed language.

Miss Danester didn’t seem moved by the story of the black cat, merely complimenting Shard when he finished, saying he did well.

As for the potential alliance between the Dragon Feast Cult and the local Vampire Kind, she didn’t offer her opinion, merely reminding Shard that internal conflicts within the Vampire Kind could be larger than those among different species.

Sixteen minutes later, as Shard recounted the news of someone melting in the Glimmer at last night’s ball, the girl who went to deliver the letter quickly returned with a reply from the Student Affairs Office. Though called a reply, it was actually a brown paper document bag, seemingly containing all the information regarding Emilia’s latest internship.

Miss Danester didn’t read it herself but handed it to Shard. As Shard opened the bag, stopping Mia from crawling inside while reading the documents, he was surprised:

"If I’d known Emilia’s next internship location earlier, I might have guessed her problem wasn’t merely being targeted by cultists before she left Tobesk. Miss Danester, isn’t there something amiss here? Emilia and her companions’ next destination is actually Moon Bay."

He handed the documents to the librarian:

"Given that The Chosen One is confirmed to appear in the Moon Bay Region, the academy would still send students there for internships?"

"What?"

Miss Danester was equally shocked by this outcome. She took the documents, reviewed them carefully, and arrived at a startling conclusion:

"How is this possible? All these documents have gone through regular procedures with signatures and seals from heads of departments. But now even the original group sent to Moon Bay is considering immediate recall. Has the Student Affairs Office gone mad, sending more students to Moon Bay... is it her bad luck again?"

Miss Danester looked at Shard in astonishment:

"If this is true, I have to admit, I underestimated that demon."

Though Shard quickly accepted this outcome, compared to continuously encountering Relics, being sent to dangerous places for a ’holiday’ didn’t seem like much:

"I never mentioned Moon Bay to Emilia; if the academy didn’t malfunction, this must be a coincidence caused by misfortune. But it’s not entirely bad luck; at least there’s no need to change her destination."

Shard said, considering as he stroked Mia and then enquired:

"Emilia and her companions will be in Moon Bay by Sunday. Can the academy deploy a Unicorn to her for curse suppression? If anyone questions this decision later, we could claim externally that her clan was genuinely worried and managed to persuade the academy’s top brass to agree to this with great expense. Of course, once it’s over, I’ll urge Emilia to keep it covered."

Miss Danester raised her brows:

"Shard, you should know that secretly transporting a Unicorn to Moon Bay is essentially no different than sending a Dragon there."

"Um... not even a juvenile one? The Unicorn Emilia likes most, I recall is named ’Leanna.’

"I know that little creature, but this isn’t about whether it’s juvenile. A Unicorn’s danger level on the dangerous creature list doesn’t change due to their age."

Seeing Shard a bit disappointed, she suddenly smiled:

"It wouldn’t be possible if you weren’t consulting me, but I am your teacher after all. I’ll figure out a way, have that Little Unicorn disguised, but you must remind Miss Elf not to let the Church discover it."

"No problem; I’ll scare Emilia a bit, saying Moon Bay is dangerous, making her stay in her room for a week. Oh, her two companions..."

"They’re innocent parties caught up in this, but if you abruptly make them return to the academy without Emilia, it would surely arouse suspicion... Let’s do this: I’ll have the Student Affairs Office give them a practice task that requires separate actions so they distance from Emilia."

"That’ll do, then I’ll meet Emilia at Moon Bay City Train Station on Sunday without appearing before others. Dragons, Vampire Kinds, Werewolves, Unicorns, Elves... ha, Moon Bay is truly becoming lively."

He whispered emotionally, while Miss Danester looked at him with increasing concern:

"Are you sure you’re really able to manage this matter?"

"Please rest assured, I have a very talented friend, not a Female Sorcerer this time. He’s one of the most professional Demon Hunters of our era, having defeated over ten demons so far. With his help, even if we fail this time, I shouldn’t be in danger. Of course, succeeding would be best."

Miss Danester didn’t ask who the "Demon Hunter" was, but inquired:

"Then as your teacher, let me show some concern for your personal life: spending such time and effort helping Miss Sianod, do you have feelings for her?"

Shard’s eyes widened:

"Why would you think that? She’s my friend, and she aided me during the Randall River Valley incident, you should remember that. Besides, even if she’s a stranger, now that she’s entangled with a demon and I just happen to have a way to help, should I stand by and do nothing?"

Miss Danester nodded satisfactorily:

"Very good, though I never taught you ethical lessons, you’ve excelled in that course independently. So go ahead, Shard. I will investigate within the academy where the arrangement for Miss Sianod to go to Moon Bay went wrong, and for you, no matter what happens afterward, always remember I stand behind you."

"Yes, Miss Danester, please await my good news."
