Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2193: With Belindel
Chapter 2193: Chapter 2193: With Belindel
Although it was not easy to arrive at Saint Byrons in his real body rather than a projection, Shard did not stay long, nor did he visit other parts of the Academy. After discussing with Miss Danester about staying in touch and the method of transporting the unicorn, he carried the cat through the door constructed by the World Travel Manual and returned to his own home.
The photos of his home used for creating the door were also sent back by Miss Danester via poetry manuscript pages afterwards.
Seeing that it was already past ten o’clock on Friday morning, it was too early to prepare lunch now, but leaving time too close could be delayed, so Shard simply took Mia to Moon Bay.
By the time they reached Belindel Estate close to eleven o’clock, the cat was still pouting at Shard. The manifestation was lying still on Shard’s shoulder and not responding to Shard’s pets. To tease it, Shard deliberately asked the maid to stop while passing through the estate’s courtyard, and then carried Mia toward the two cats lying on the garden bench of Belindel’s estate.
Mia immediately puffed up.
Originally agreed with Miss Belindel to pick up the ritual information to summon the evil object in the morning, the witch had to go out to do her own things after waiting for a long time without Shard arriving. But when she got the message at noon, hearing that Shard finally arrived at the estate, she returned home with the maids.
When she saw Shard in the study room, she quickly walked toward Shard and embraced him with open arms:
"Oh, you’re finally here. We agreed to meet in the morning, and I was worried all morning because you didn’t show up. As I said last time, you can contact me anytime, but I can’t always find you. If you ever encounter danger in the future, I can’t even use divination on you..."
She pursed her lips and held Shard’s hand, looking at her, Shard knew that she had run all the way here after getting out of the carriage.
"I ran into some troublesome things this time, it delayed the time, I’m really sorry. On Sunday, a friend of mine is coming to Moon Bay."
Shard thus spoke.
"Oh?"
The Countess asked in surprise:
"People from Golden Dawn? I didn’t hear Vanessa mention it."
"No, Miss Benanis and others don’t know her either. She’s a student from Saint Byrons, coming here for fieldwork."
The witch was even more surprised:
"You know, I made a prophecy before meeting you, that a non-human object emerging from the Dragon Nest would affect my fate. After that, I asked Matilda to contact my acquaintances in Xerxes, so I also learned about the summer arrangements of the Three Major Academies this year. If I remember correctly, Saint Byrons Integrated Academy’s month-long fieldwork is about to complete its second week, why is someone coming at this time?"
"Hmm..."
Shard considered for a moment, deciding to tell the truth. He glanced at the Blonde Maid beside him, who understood and led the other maids out of the room without even asking the Countess for permission. But the witch didn’t mind, she was waiting for Shard’s answer.
"The girl was targeted by cultists at her original fieldwork location, and after resolving the trouble, the Academy let her change locations."
"Female Sorcerer?"
The eyebrows below the carmine birthmark raised lightly:
"Continue, is she a Dragonborn?"
"Of course not, she’s a purebred Elf, and also of noble bloodline."
Miss Belindel blinked, not expecting such an answer:
"An Elf, huh? It’s been years since an Elf appeared in the Moon Bay Region... Do you need me to help host her? Take her around town, or help check some fieldwork task clues."
It was clear that upon hearing she wasn’t a "Dragonborn," the witch lost interest in Emilia. She wouldn’t even have offered to host the Elf if she weren’t also female.
"No, no, my mentioning her wasn’t for that reason. Please don’t arrange any contact with her, in fact, Miss Belindel, even you should absolutely avoid any contact with her."
Shard said very seriously, and the Countess released Shard, motioning for him to sit on the sofa and continue:
"What, is she your Elf lover?"
"Please don’t say it like that! According to Elven tradition, Emilia is not yet of age."
Shard reiterated, the witch sipping tea while smiling silently, enjoying watching Shard explain.
"She’s entangled with something terrible, even more troublesome than the Misfortune Cult. The cultists I mentioned a few days ago, whom I was helping a friend deal with, turned out to be just decoys."
"Then what’s exactly haunting that lovely Elf girl? An Angel-Level Relic?"
The Countess continued questioning, Shard looked back to confirm the door was closed, then lowered his voice to say:
"Something even more troublesome. An Ancient Evil Spirit: Misfortune Demon - Fanarius."
Since Emilia was not yet in Moon Bay, Shard could say the name.
Snap!
The expensive porcelain teacup was crushed into pieces in the witch’s hand:
"What?"
She widened her golden eyes and stood up directly, while Shard shook his head:
"Don’t be so agitated, but it seems like you know about this thing? Great, I thought I’d have to explain it."
"I’m a diviner, how could I not know about this kind of thing? Are you really sure..."
Shard took her hand, guiding her to sit back beside him:
"Not long ago, when I was conversing with a professor at Saint Byrons, she asked the same question. Well, I’m very sure. But don’t worry, I have a way to deal with it. Miss Belindel, you don’t need to intervene in this matter, I’ll arrange for Emilia, and solve the problem in about one or two weeks."
However, the Great Witch of Destiny completely disbelieved his words, her golden eyes glaring at him:
"Are you really sure you fully understand what you’re up against?"
"Of course I know, an ancient evil spirit that’s never been sealed, its time of birth is even as early as the first demons. Only the ’Human Pus’ that appeared last summer in Coldwater Port and Tobesk can compare with its ancient nature, but it’s not an issue."
Shard took out an ancient iron ring from his pocket:
"Look, the [Demon Hunting Seal], I’ve always been fighting demons. Moreover, you also know that the [Night Watchman] is the nemesis of such beings, not to mention, I know a very skilled Demon Hunter...much more professional than I am. So far, we’ve already worked together to seal five demons, and while it might sound a bit arrogant to say, this is our ’daily work’."
The excited witch finally calmed down a bit, but she still had questions:
"But why Moon Bay?"
Shard chuckled:
"Yes, why Moon Bay...Saint Byrons sent that elf girl entangled by the demon to Moon Bay, and the process and decision weren’t influenced by any power, at least my professor friend said so, but it just had to be Moon Bay.
My professor friend holds some prestige at Saint Byrons, they are temporarily pretending not to know about this, but they’ll transport a juvenile unicorn to help the elf girl suppress the Misfortune Curse before I eliminate the demon. You probably don’t know, but in just a week, she encountered four relics."
"Unicorn?"
The witch’s eyes shone, and Shard suddenly remembered that for top witches of the Fifth Era, riding a unicorn was prestigious, even the Witch Empresses took pride in it. Only witches without the means chose Chocobos, and the most impoverished witches rode horses.
But in the current Sixth Era, neither Chocobos nor unicorns exist in normal civilized worlds, otherwise, Miss Galina’s carriage convoy would be led by a unicorn.
"Yes, unicorn. But I must remind you, that little unicorn is also a member of Saint Byrons, and part of a large unicorn group, there’s no way for you to keep it...if you want to meet it, after dealing with the demon, I can discuss with Emilia, but doing so would expose your witch identity."
Miss Belindel became conflicted but suddenly smiled as she asked Shard:
"Have you ridden a unicorn?"
"Of course, it’s even friends with this cat."
Shard patted the cat on his lap, the lazy orange cat waiting for lunch rolled over and lay in another direction.
The little beast didn’t dislike Shard, and even liked him quite a bit.
"You, a unicorn? Are you really a man?"
Shard didn’t know how many times he’d heard this question, but still nodded at this point. The witch then smiled and leaned close to Shard, seeing that this time Shard didn’t blush or evade, she moved her lips to his.
Seeing Shard still didn’t dodge, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him genuinely:
"Then let me try."
She did not forget to pass on the information about the ritual for summoning the evil object to Shard, information she barely managed to obtain despite her local power, given both the Dragon Feast Cult and the True God Church aren’t known for sharing, the Grand Witch employed some unconventional methods, knowing this information would be invaluable to Shard.
After that passionate kiss, she called for Miss Matilda, handing the prepared documents to Shard. The blonde maid noticed the lingering blush on her mistress’s ear, guessing what had just transpired.
"The terrible thing is, from what I’ve gathered at the church, the True God Church clearly thinks the Dragon Feast Cult doesn’t just have the ability to summon an evil object’s phantom."
The Great Witch of Destiny cautioned, as Shard took the documents and was astonished.
"Could they actually summon the evil object’s entity from the depths of the sea?"
The witch nodded extremely cautiously:
"It requires a lot of preparations and unimaginable sacrifices, but the church believes it isn’t entirely impossible. Don’t take these documents with you, memorize them and immediately destroy them, these details must never be leaked."
