Chapter 2121: Only Me in the Chaos (III)
“You have to follow my rules, Spring Autumn!” Li Hao chuckled. “I’m not killing your subordinate, just helping his flesh and blood integrate with his spirit. He’ll grow stronger and have more potential instead.
“The essence of his flesh and blood will become purer when it is combined with his spirit, which will be far stronger than those with just spirit in the new chaos...” Li Hao suddenly asked, “His name is Mountain Breaker?”
Spring Autumn looked on gravely. Hadn’t... Li Hao given up the dao of time?
The young man didn’t feel that strong at the moment, but had been able to avoid her in a split second and beat an eighth rank monster spirit to death with one punch. The latter was normal since Mountain Breaker’s spirit wasn’t present, but it wasn’t normal that Li Hao had been able to evade her!
Seeing Mountain Breaker’s body crumble away to be absorbed by the blood-red world, Spring Autumn’s frown deepened.
“Why do this? Time flows very quickly inside. Once the person you want emerges, he can just follow suit. Now that everything’s been consolidated, he’ll actually die if he dies inside...”
“That makes it fair!” Li Hao laughed. “My teacher’s spirit is inside, with only one death available to him. We can’t have this guy be able to return after he dies, that’s not fair!”
Spring Autumn cursed under her breath.
Fine! I know what you have in mind. All this talk of fairness, but in actuality, you’re just annoyed that your teacher didn’t grow strong enough for you to find and bring out with you.
Poor Mountain Breaker.
It’s fine if he survives and grows stronger from the experience. With flesh and blood consolidated as one, he’ll be naturally stronger than some of the other entities, even if he doesn’t absorb everything.
“So now what?” Spring Autumn changed the topic. “This world is still here, once someone breaks it...”
She looked in the distance, at where the Human King faced their latest threat.
She didn’t actually care if the world was broken or not. The key was, the situation was unclear at the moment and she couldn’t determine Li Hao’s strength. Although Chaos Sky had been gravely injured, he looked to be the foremost powerhouse of the chaos at the moment.
And all of the ninth ranks were still alive.
Li Hao had gone to so much effort to create a false chaos, but it hadn’t seemed to yield much.
“So you’ve come back, Li Hao?” came Chaos Sky’s voice. “Have you succeeded in creating another chaos? In that case, have you given up time or do you still wield it?”
The face-off in the distance paused as everyone was curious. What was Li Hao’s current status? Had he gained anything from establishing his world? Was he stronger or weaker now?
The young man ignored them and looked at the world in front of him. The flow of time inside and outside of it was not identical, that was a given. The key was, even he was uncertain how long it’d take for the chaos inside to develop to when that one unified it.
Perhaps the one to walk out of it may not be that one.
Leaving the world here might result in someone breaking it apart.
With that thought, Li Hao suddenly lifted his foot and punted the world away. It hummed through the void and vanished in front of everyone’s eyes.
Some wanted to track its whereabouts. Sword qi rose from the young man’s body in return and churned through the void. That scattered everything enough so that tracking was impossible. Similar to how the Sword Sovereign sent Silver Moon flying with a flick of his sword in the past, so did Li Hao now send the false chaos elsewhere.
The blood-red world vanished and Li Hao chuckled. It would take would-be hunters a while to find the world. As for how long, he wasn’t certain.
That would be up to fate.
The young man then vanished and reappeared in front of everyone, drawing their gazes. The Human King was curious and Chaos Sky was rather worse for the wear. He was bathed in blood. Skyward’s replica had maintained some of a ninth rank’s dignity, but he was also very weak at the moment as well.
They all studied Li Hao! Were there any changes to him after he established the false chaos?
Upon further look...
There... didn’t seem to be any major changes. The only shift was that there was less of a sense of mystery and... madness. Li Hao appeared to be very calm, with none of the earlier battle fervor he’d displayed when killing his master.
The Skyward master quickly scanned the young man. He furrowed his brows. Had the lad really given up the power of time?
He didn’t sense that mysterious dao on Li Hao. Had he really tossed it into the world that’d just vanished?
Skyward glanced in the direction that the false chaos had vanished in. So... time was in that world?
Chaos Sky’s eyes darted around, clearly having thought of the same thing. “Li Hao, where’s my Heaven’s Stratagem?”
“Inside,” Li Hao grinned. “Time is inside as well, along with a lot of other things. I came out empty-handed.”
“What do you want?” rumbled Chaos Sky. “Do you know how many died in this battle?! How many worlds were destroyed?! General suffering and misery reigns now! Even ninth ranks have fallen, just for the sake of your selfish impulses!
“But you don’t have anything to show for your efforts after that! Li Hao, I don’t understand you!”
So many had died in this battle and the western region had been utterly devastated. Yet, the young man really did give everything up in the end. Chaos Sky didn’t understand!
It wasn’t just him, neither did Skyward understand.
One could say that Li Hao was the final victor from this engagement, but he’d thrown everything away. That meant he wasn’t the winner.
On the contrary, relinquishing time and order meant that he was no longer as strong as before. It didn’t matter that he retained an eighth rank’s strength. Li Hao wasn’t as frightening without time.
If he hadn’t tossed away some of what he had and re-incorporated the new world into his own system, in his river of time... then he might’ve stood a chance of ascending to ninth rank!
While he wouldn’t have necessarily succeeded, he would rival Chaos Sky, at the very least, and become a true tyrant of the chaos. He would be nearly invincible before the ninth ranks returned since he still wielded the power of time.
“What do I want?” Li Hao laughed. “I want comfort and peace of heart! That thing’s caused me no end of sleepless nights. I can’t eat, I can’t enjoy life, it sucks! But now I kind of regret not giving it up earlier. See what a nice life the Human King leads!
“He eats well, sleeps well, and has fun all throughout the chaos. Time is bad luck for whoever gets involved in it. Wouldn’t you say so, Human King?”
“Damn straight!” Fang Ping roared with laughter. “I knew early on that this thing was better left untouched. Us youngsters are different from that western old fart. They’re afraid of death—the older they are, the more afraid!
“They might live a few years longer with time, but we’re not afraid. Based on what I say, time should be extinguished! It’s a hot potato no matter who has it!
“Congratulations!” laughed the Human King. “You’re truly Li Hao only when you lack the dao of time. Otherwise, you’re not a free person either. Some things just should not exist!”
Skyward didn’t care about the wild ramblings of these two madmen. Time is hardly as simple as the two of you think it is. It might be only a matter of time before the chaos collapses without it.
“Li Hao,” Skyward intoned. “You are the one who created that chaos. Since you don’t want it and you don’t care who comes in possession of time, then why bother hiding that world?”
Why go to the effort of sending it elsewhere if you don’t care about it?
“My Heaven’s Stratagem is still inside it,” Chaos Sky added. “The chaos will fall into disarray if it doesn’t emerge. That will not benefit general existence and life itself. Why be this way?”
He looked at Spring Autumn in the distance. The little girl was striding through the void. Chaos Sky then scanned the others on the scene, none of them were easy targets. He might be alive, but he was gravely wounded.
Even if Li Hao really lacked battle strength at the moment, it was still very difficult for Chaos Sky to face the combined forces of the Human King and Spring Autumn. Skyward’s replica had also been greatly depleted. He was strong, but there were a lot of eighth ranks present!
Chaos Sky and Skyward might not occupy the upper hand if a fight truly broke out.
Since Li Hao didn’t want any of that... why not give it to us??
Chaos Sky grew irritated. He’d thought Li Hao was just saying, but that crazy really had thrown everything away. The man found himself completely unable to understand what Li Hao was thinking of.
That lunatic!
Half of the powerhouses in the chaos died this time, thanks to your desire to create a new chaos! Apart from the people in front of you and the ninth ranks who can’t leave the center of the chaos... You should know how many have died!
You damned animal!
How dare you throw it all away just because you wanted to?! Then wasn’t all of this for nothing?? No one gained anything from it, it all went to those cultivators inside the new chaos instead!
Or rather, new spirits?
“Your treasure is inside, Chaos Sky,” Li Hao laughed. “Therefore, you stand the greatest chance of finding it. Why don’t you try to track it down? And it’s not me driving a wedge between you guys, Skyward, but the truth is that you’re certain to stand a greater chance of finding it if you’re with Chaos Sky.
“I won’t care if you guys find it! I’m hiding it just out of humanitarian reasons. I’m the creator, after all. I should offer it some degree of protection. But now... I don’t know where it is either! Go after it if you guys want. It has nothing to do with me anymore.
“Or do you guys want to focus on killing me instead? You can try that too. Although I don’t have the dao of time anymore, that doesn’t mean I’m afraid of you two!”
The two looked at each other and cursed quietly. This guy was up to his old tricks again.
But such was the truth. With Heaven’s Stratagem inside, Chaos Sky stood a natural advantage if he wished to find the new chaos. Skyward knew this as well, so he would follow Chaos Sky even if Li Hao didn’t say anything.
Their only conflict now was... if they wanted to make a move against the kid right now!
Chaos Sky gave up on the idea after further thought. There was no advantage to taking action now. Perhaps there would be after order returned, not to mention the dao of time was inside as well.
He disappeared with a snort.
“You really exceed my expectations, Li Hao,” Skyward said with emotion. “I actually very much admire you, Li Hao. Once the chaos dao returns to normal and our primary bodies can descend again, perhaps we can have a nice conversation. We don’t have to necessarily meet each other in battle.”
Now that the young man no longer wielded time, there wasn’t necessarily a need to kill him, as irritating as he was!
