Chapter 2120: Only Me in the Chaos (II)
“What a pity that I was too curious for my own good,” laughed the long-robed cultivator. “I couldn’t help myself and explored too much. But... the interesting thing is... certain parts of the future... may really have been changed!
“I’m going to leave now... Time will be yours in my absence!”
“I don’t want it!” sneered Su Yu. “Why does that thing have to be mine, huh? I finally get what all of you guys are playing at. You guys are shameless! This thing obviously sucks. No one wants it, so you toss it to me.
“The hell! I am the master of the universe’s civilization, not the master of time...”
“It’s not up to you,” smiled the long-robed cultivator. “Time stretches onward. You’re the youngest, so if no one who came before you wanted it, it has to be you!
“It’s not me giving it to you, I’m just leaving it in this world.” The cultivator grinned widely. “Whether you want it or not, you can study it for a while. It’ll probably appear next to you once you return to your original space and time.”
Su Yu cursed up a storm! What the hell was all this?!
He gained an understanding of the situation after his mind ran swiftly through the implications. So this means that whatever he’s giving to me now is fake.
Or, it’s not fake, but illusory. The key is that everyone who obtained the star before me and after him has given it up. I’m the youngest and the latest one to come into possession of it. Therefore, I have to accept it, is that right?
“Why didn’t anyone want it before me?”
“I don’t know.” Long Robes shook his head with a faint smile. “Maybe you’ll know in the future.”
With that, he disappeared.
Su Yu couldn’t help but curse after seeing the man vanish. “None of these damned old geezers are anything good!”
It was infuriating!
He contemplated the star in front of him. What was going on here, eh? Was that the star of time? The source of the dao of time?
Why give it to me when none of you guys want it?
I cultivate the civilization of the universe and not time...
Alright, fine, I do. I was born in the river of time, so that means that I’ve been exposed to it the longest out of all of us. I have the closest ties with it.
Every part of my home universe lay within time, it has never been separate from it!
Silver Moon had also been born within time, but the dao hadn’t been that strong on the world. It’d also been concealed before Li Hao later retrieved it, which freed Silver Moon from the influence of time.
Meanwhile, Su Yu’s myriad of worlds had been born because of time. Time ran through everything and all life within that chaos.
“Does that mean I won’t be able to break free of where I am if I don’t master it?” Su Yu murmured as he stared at the world in the distance. If I do... and surpass it... what do I want this thing for then?
What’s so good about time?
There’s nothing good about it?
How about I find someone else to take it off my hands?
He was starting to understand that all of these people had just been playing hot potato with the dao of time. It’s my turn this time, isn’t it?
As for why I don’t want it... why would I? Am I that bored that I want to take a look at the past and future? Do I want to make myself unhappy?
I can treat the past as a movie, but the future... Who wants to know what happens in the future?
Su Yu turned and flashed a grin at someone. Ole Wan once took a look at the future, and then?
He almost died because of what he knew!
No one who ever snuck a peek at the future ended up in a good situation. Time is just a trap.
Su Yu saw someone burrowing out of the world in the distance. It was... a bit familiar.
Huh?
I think I know that guy!
I saw him through the river last time. Is he the dude who likes flowery pants?
His strength is... mediocre. It’s basically on the level of a dao rule master. So this means... I’ve actually returned to the past?
Is this a period of time in the past? And... this is the world that the dao of time originated from?
Su Yu suddenly reached out with a hand and scooped up the man trying to push his way off world. The latter jerked with alarm!
Who was that??
What was this?!
A face then appeared in front of his eyes, stunning the young Sun God. Who was this?? Why were they so strong?! He was terrifyingly strong!
Where was this place?? Was this the outside of the seed world?
“What a pity...” A mental voice traveled over.
“Who... is... the senior...?” A highly nervous Sun God stammered back.
“Who am I?” Su Yu laughed softly. “Some call me Emperor Yu.”
Emperor Yu? The Sun God goggled. Where was this heavyweight from?
“Are you interested in taking a walk with me?” Su Yu wasn’t willing to enter the world in front of them. It was rare to encounter a cultivator who could leave their own world.
If Su Yu entered and saw too much, he might interfere with their operations so much that it affected the past. That might shift the future too.
If that happens, will I be changed as well?
That would be such a hassle!
But it should be fine to interact with this one. He recognized me last time. This might be when we got to know each other.
In that case, that makes things a lot easier.
“Where... does the senior wish to take me?”
“Just on a walk,” Su Yu chuckled. “I’m very curious about your civilization! Don’t worry, I won’t do anything, nor can I do anything. It’s very dangerous out there, so don’t go running around or be in a hurry to leave. Heading outside is the start of true danger!”
Don’t be in a hurry to go outside? pondered the Sun God. Is it dangerous?
He didn’t know.
The Sun God was a blank sheet when it came to well, everything. He’d just risen within his world and had wanted to come out and take a look.
As it turned out, he encountered incredible danger on his first day!
The outside really was very dangerous!
Su Yu didn’t explain himself further. He turned to take another look at the tiny world. It wasn’t very strong at the moment, but he knew that there was a powerhouse within it. They might not be all that strong, but they’d created time!
What a terrifying fellow. The dao of time really is a human creation!
Another world appeared with a casual wave of his hand. That would do for a temporary place of rest. Since he wouldn’t be able to depart from here in the short term, then it would do to have a world they could reside in.
It looks like I’ll have to wield some power of time and create the river. Only then can I return to my original timeline.
Su Yu came to this conclusion because... the river of time had vanished for the moment.
Clearly, I won’t be able to leave this place until I master some power of time. I’ll be trapped in these memories of the past.
To Su Yu, this was simply a portion of memory. It might not be the real past because that had vanished. He’d simply come to the depths of memory.
This was the memory portion of the river and of time. It might be an opportunity for him.
“We’ll rest here for a while. Once I grasp some power of time and create the river, I’ll be able to connect it to the river of my myriad worlds. We should be able to return then. It also looks like I’ll need to wait for time to pass until it reaches our original timeline.
“I just wonder what the rate of time is. We’re several hundred thousand years out from the establishment of the worlds. How long is this going to take?’
There were several hundred thousand years until the new chaos was created.
It looks like the last old geezer of time purposefully screwed up our space and time so that we wouldn’t interfere with this portion of history. Is that so?
Su Yu was coming to understand that he would be able to return only when the flow of time was in sync throughout the chaos.
I wonder how fast time is passing over there. If it’s going too slowly... I’ll have to wait here for a while!
Well, that works too. I can learn more about this real chaos. That’ll help us once we walk out.
......
Boom!
The blood-red world shook. Li Hao exited it through a small doorway that hovered in and out of sight. Almost all of the powerhouses had emerged from it. They were naturally ejected once their spirit was eliminated.
A buzz of conversation rose as everyone discussed their experiences. The Human King and a select few had already left and were standing guard up ahead, due to two immense presences quickly approaching them.
Li Hao immediately identified that it was Skyward and Chaos Sky. Just as he thought, those two were still alive. The young man was in no hurry to engage with them. He looked around, seeing that almost everyone who’d gone inside had come back out.
It looked like the demons and gods that he’d killed had mostly been those group.
Those who entered through this method would all be eliminated in a best case scenario, because their primary bodies were outside. The false chaos was now sealed shut. Anyone who hadn’t returned by now would find it very difficult to.
And if they spent a long period of time inside, accumulating countless years of memories, then returned... There would be trouble then. Who would be the primary personality?
Li Hao quickly assessed the crowd with a glance, then nodded with a frown. He turned to the recently awoken Spring Autumn, “One of yours is still in there!”
The cicada blinked as she looked around. That was true, someone was still in there. She’d brought some major monster spirits with her, but one of them was still inside. Their physical body was still here, but it lacked all spirit. They were obviously still inside.
“I killed almost all of the demons and gods with normal spirits when I established the worlds.” Li Hao’s frown deepened. “That guy... probably avoided me on purpose!”
It might change things if someone’s spirit remained behind. Well, without their memories, they would just enjoy somewhat better potential and strength at best.
It was the act of evading him that irked Li Hao.
Spring Autumn looked wordlessly at an inert monster spirit next to her. “Can we have him exit now?”
“It’s not possible, I’ve already cut off my connection to the inside. I’ll have to break the world... but I wouldn’t possibly do so for the sake of one or two people.” Li Hao also looked at the massive body. “Forget it, it’s just one being. It won’t affect anything. But... I do need there to be more fairness inside.”
What did the young man mean?
Li Hao raised his hand to slam a palm strike at the body. “I’ll break the body and let it combine with the spirit. It’s not fair if he can return to his real life once he dies. Those who die inside are dead. Since he was determined to avoid me before he went inside... that’s how we’ll handle this!”
“You can’t, Mountain Breaker is an eighth rank under my banner, you...” A solemn Spring Autumn wanted to block Li Hao’s blow, but the young man disappeared.
He reappeared over the massive body and punched the body, obliterating it. All of the flesh and blood integrated with the blood-red world.
