Star Gate
Chapter 2119: Only Me in the Chaos (I)
Although Disorder was dead, there should be others who were still alive. Skyward certainly was, which meant he would come for Li Hao.
The young man contemplated the implications, then looked at the river hovering in the void. A doorway appeared in his hand, the Star Gate of yesteryear, but enhanced from what it was before.
Li Hao took a deep breath and leapt into the river. The Star Gate stood at one end, it was the doorway that would lead to the outside world.
It’s just...
Dao strength emanated from his body after some thought. Emotions flared and became part of it. Li Hao integrated the innermost darkness of his heart and desires as well.
This is your final test.
After you pass through this door, you’ll understand how malicious those on the outside are. Perhaps only then will you be prepared to truly walk out and fight by our side. There are too many ninth ranks in the chaos. You wouldn’t be invincible even if you emerged from yours.
It’ll be better for you to stay in the false chaos if you can’t control the desires of your heart.
The river abruptly shook wildly! Someone wanted to burrow into it from the other end...
Li Hao turned back for a look, seeing some demons and gods wanting to enter the river. There was so much dao strength within the waters that it was starting to craft simple dao rules.
He’d already said that they had to integrate their dao and selves into a world if they wished to enter the dao river. Clearly, some were ignoring his words.
The young man ignored them after taking a glance.
He was just in charge of creating a prototype. He was creating the worlds and river of dao today, and had gained numerous reflections because of it. It was up to them how the future developed. He couldn’t keep an eye on things forever, then everything would constantly be under his manipulation. That would diminish the necessity of future civilizations.
Li Hao set the Star Gate in the depths of the river and the brought his sword down!
He considered the breaking Firmament Sword and assessed the level of spirit within. Li Hao then threw down the longsword and soared into the air.
“Good luck!” His voice traveled back. “You have no soul or body, but kept me company for a long while. You... might be able to free yourself from the sword if you gather enough spirit.”
A sword was a dead thing at the end of the day. Now that there was some spirit in it, this was both a chance and an opportunity. If the Firmament Sword treasured it, it had a chance of breaking free and becoming an exalted emperor in its own right.
However, there was almost too much killing intent involved with the sword. It was hard to say if it would succeed. That would be up to its destiny.
Li Hao couldn’t do much else other than let the sword spirit remain behind. This was the most he could do. The future would depend on the Firmament Sword itself.
Li Hao darted through the void and headed for the depths of the boundless chaos. It was time to leave! He’d done everything he should do.
When he reached the barrier of the chaos, he turned back for a look. The river was still extending, continuing with a momentum to sprawl through the entire chaos. Li Hao suddenly laughed helplessly. Was Demon Flame Long Zhan or not?
Why had he lost so much of his nerve?
That guy would be interesting in his absence. Currently, Demon Flame was attempting to squeeze his way into the river, but didn’t want to become part of it. It looked like he wished to retain the independence of a chaos beast. He didn’t want to assimilate with the river, which prevented him from making it to the internals of the river.
Li Hao set the matter aside and jumped upward, crossing the barrier like he was leaping over a mountain.
The young man promptly vanished within the starry expanse of the universe.
“Is he gone?”
“I think so...”
“Where to?”
“I don’t know...”
The surviving demons and gods crept out of hiding, all of them with their hearts in their mouths. That had been entirely too terrifying!
They were invincible, but that person had killed ninety percent of them today! It was horrifying!
“Do we... want to enter this river of time?” someone asked quietly. “If we don’t, we won’t have much room to survive in as the chaos is further compressed...”
“Let’s go inside then?”
“Let’s do it!”
Some people jumped into the waters without caring what the others thought. Their connate dao and the river’s dao instantly fused together. Dao became worlds, budding like fruit upon the river. They quickly took shape in the void.
“I establish the Divine World and am the Divine Ancestor!” boomed a sonorous voice. “All beings may enter my world and jointly lift up our world to new splendor!”
Some of the humans that’d been resettled by Li Hao sensed an inexplicable calling. The cultivators that’d been training in the divine nation stared off into space, helpless to stop themselves as they automatically flew toward another world.
They followed the river and entered a rapidly expanding world. More magnificent voices echoed through the void upon seeing this initial success!
“I am the Demon Ancestor and hereby establish Demon World! I incorporate my dao into time and welcome all beings into my world!”
“I am the Immortal Ancestor and craft the Immortal World...”
“I am the Dragon Ancestor and welcome all monster spirits and beasts to Dragon World!”
“......” Powerhouses that’d survived swiftly became part of the river and occupied their territory, melding their dao into it. Worlds surfaced and began expanding furiously.
Those who incorporated their dao first obtained more benefits. Since they couldn’t break at the river and its creator had left, when should they occupy it, if not now?
Those who entered the river began creating worlds like this was the genesis of creation. Although it wasn’t the same sight as Li Hao’s river traversing a myriad of worlds, it rivaled what Forefather Blood had brought to bear.
Heaven and earth began to form. The budding myriad of worlds came into view.
Demons and gods that’d survived sought for a way forward and the hundreds of billions of humans became resources that they fought over. A dao with cultivators would grow stronger faster, and those with more cultivators would have more of an opportunity.
The humans that remained on the star of time also heard some of the voices, but they paled in comparison to what the cultivators of the divine nation heard on the outside. The former heard muffled words and ignored whatever they did hear clearly.
There was no reason other than Ling Yue had tried to inspire them with faith early on. If they’d been willing to believe anyone, they would’ve entered the divine nation. They’d stayed behind because they were willing.
Heaven and earth fell apart. A cultivator in the star of time shot into the void and discovered something. He capered with joy when he saw the incredibly thick dao over his head!
The great dao immediately integrated with him when he rose with a roar. “I am the ancestor of humans and establish the world of humans today!”
The worlds shook!
The Human World!
Some of the more powerful worlds in the vicinity were still expanding when they heard the voice. They looked around curiously. That... didn’t seem to originate from a connate demon or god. It seemed to be one of the cultivators under Sword User?
They didn’t know the specifics, but also knew that the cultivator of time may not be far. It was best not to provoke him. As for this so-called Human Ancestor...
Snorts and scoffs could be heard at the declaration. Some were indifferent, others were wary. But no one intervened when another thought occurred to them.
Dao strength was everywhere with the initial establishment of the worlds. There was no need to explore in the depths of time. What if they caused that one to return? That would be the greatest trouble of all.
Even now, the horrors of that one’s might was fresh on everyone’s mind. Sword User was terrifying.
Apart from that, the evolution of these great daos from characters was also on the forefront of their thoughts. When they incorporated their great dao within, it was like supernatural characters naturally appeared in their minds. Their dao was suddenly a legacy, a legacy of bloodline!
Perhaps their next generation might contain some dao strength and could cultivate the dao of the world by nature. That would be the skill of their potential!
This potential was also tied to the dao they incorporated.
Demon Flame furiously rammed the river, but was unwilling to become part of it. He could only howl with indignation.
As for why his brethren were willing to become part of the river and he wasn’t... He just wasn’t!
Since you’re not willing to let me inside... I’ll set myself against you to the last! I don’t dare do anything right now, but I’m going to swallow this entire river if it’s the last thing I do!
He sped for the other end of the river...
Since there was a doorway on one end and none on the other, he could take advantage of this lull in attention and transform into another doorway. Perhaps that would compress the river and let him devour it!
The myriad of worlds began to grow and evolve.
Li Hao didn’t care about any of it.
......
At the same time.
Sounds of a river could be heard.
Su Yu and his people looked at the person in the distance with both seriousness and confusion. The person smiled and sent the star drifting out of his hand.
“This is the star of time. No other star of time can appear at the same moment. That person has given it up, so there is no master of time at present. This... is yours then!”
Su Yu looked blankly at the man. What is this, that you’re giving it to me just like that? He frowned at the person.
“You naturally lack some things compared to others. When that person established the worlds, the foundation he created was less than the real chaos. You’ll have to break through your own limits if you want to exceed or catch up to him!”
Su Yu looked at the person in front of him. The latter gave off a very comfortable feeling, but also a bit of an illusory one. He’d realized where he was and sank into deep contemplation.
“And you?” Su Yu asked after a while.
“Me?” The long-robed cultivator smiled freely. “I’ve seen too much and I’m tired. I have no desire to participate in any of this. I was just an ordinary cultivator who cultivated until I created time. That might... be the achievement I regret most in my life. People should not peer into the future...”
Su Yu raised a brow and inclined his head. “That’s true enough. Those who spy into the future always end up very badly for it! They’re terrified of how the future looks . The more it is thus, the more afraid they are. If the future is set in stone, doesn’t that mean everything they’re doing now is a waste of time and effort?”
“That’s right,” nodded the other.
