Seeing Crime Scenes in My Sleep
Chapter 247 - 241: Dark Alley Bar
Back at the familiar police station, Jiang Li’s constantly tense body finally relaxed. She sat to one side, gulping down several mouthfuls of water.
Lu Xingye heard the commotion and came out from inside. In his haste, he couldn’t help but pull Jiang Li over to check on her.
Seeing the needle mark on her arm, Lu Xingye’s pupils contracted. His mind was filled with the image of Jiang Li twisted in pain, just like Lu Xingchen.
His hand holding hers trembled uncontrollably. "Xiao Ji is already here."
"I’m fine now, don’t worry." Jiang Li forced a smile to reassure Lu Xingye. "How is Sister Xingchen now?"
"She’s out of danger, but she’ll still need some time to recover."
As they spoke, Miao Anji and Yu Huannian arrived at the police station.
Miao Anji went straight to Jiang Li, grabbed her hand to examine it, and immediately frowned.
"What is it?" Seeing Miao Anji’s reaction, Lu Xingye couldn’t help but grow tense. He hadn’t seen him this nervous before.
"It’s nothing serious, it’s just that the dose of toxin is double what the previous two had."
Lu Xingye took a sharp breath, wishing he could find Kun Sha right now and take him down, even if it meant mutual destruction.
"It’s fine, don’t worry. There’s still a way to deal with it, right?"
Jiang Li looked at Lu Xingye, whose face was as black as charcoal, and took a recording pen from her pocket to hand to him.
"This has all the information Cai Yue gave."
For a moment, Lu Xingye looked at her with a helpless expression, but he still took the recording pen from her hand.
"Call me if you need anything." Lu Xingye looked at the device in his hand. ’I have to speed things up. Only by bringing Kun Sha to justice can we ensure their safety.’
Jiang Li suddenly noticed a little girl in a dress in the corner. She was hugging a doll and looking at her.
She looked so much like the Little Li from her past.
She walked over and squatted down. "What are you doing here?"
"Aunt Jing, how did you get younger?" Li Xiaoru tilted her head, looking at her.
The expression on Jiang Li’s face froze instantly. Then, confused, she asked again, "What did you call me?"
"Aunt Jing. Aunt Jing, look, this is the doll you bought for me."
Jiang Li’s head was buzzing, and she couldn’t register anything else the little girl said after that.
"I... I’m not your Aunt Jing."
Jiang Li patted the girl’s head and turned to leave, as if fleeing.
After sitting down off to the side, her mind was a complete mess. ’Could Lu Xingye and the others have really found my family?’
’But more than twenty years have passed. Half of my life is already over. I don’t think anything good would come from a reunion, and besides, I wouldn’t even know how to act around them.’
Whenever she encountered things like this, her first instinct was to run and find a place to hide.
Miao Anji came over with his small medical kit and sat beside her. "Sister, this might hurt a little."
Jiang Li nodded absentmindedly. Even after Miao Anji finished treating her, she remained completely lost in a daze.
Miao Anji glanced at her. He was already used to her tendency to space out at a moment’s notice. After packing up his medical kit, he just sat quietly beside her.
Lu Xingye and Zhou Tiancheng were thrilled after listening to the recording. For them, this was a major lead.
Instantly, all the officers were energized, following the new trail.
Jiang Li seemed to think of something. She stood up and said to Tang Wen, "I have something to take care of. I’m heading out for a bit. If they ask, please let them know."
"Tch." Tan Qing, who was next to Tang Wen, couldn’t help but mutter something under her breath. The next second, a chilling gaze fell upon her.
"Don’t want your tongue anymore?" Jiang Li asked, her face devoid of expression.
Tan Qing couldn’t help but shudder. She shrank back, not daring to say another word.
Jiang Li headed outside. Miao Anji and Yu Huannian stood up and followed her out.
Just as Wen Feng finished being reprimanded by his superior, he planned to properly apologize to Jiang Li again, but when he came out, she was already gone.
Jiang Li led Yu Huannian and Miao Anji to a place called the Dark Alley Bar. The moment she stepped inside, several malicious gazes landed on her.
She lifted her eyes and scanned the room. There were only about ten people in the main area of the bar.
"I’m looking for Jia Sheng."
"Who the hell are you? You’ve got some nerve, looking for our boss. Do you know what it takes to see our boss?
For one, you’re wearing way too many clothes."
The man in front of her rubbed his chin, his eyes raking over her body.
Miao Anji frowned.
"AAAAHHH, MY EYES!"
In an instant, the man was clutching his eyes in agony, blood seeping between his fingers. He then fell to the ground with a CLATTER and began to writhe.
Seeing this, the others shot to their feet, pulling out their weapons almost instantly.
Jiang Li scanned the room and chuckled lightly. "To think there are still people who don’t know who I am."
She was just looking for someone, and she had her own methods.
The group saw that the newcomer was hostile and began to close in, weapons in hand.
Jiang Li glanced at Yu Huannian. Yu Huannian vaulted over the bar, pulled a large knife from where they cut fruit platters, and found some other handy tools nearby.
He handed the largest knife to Jiang Li.
The men around them were instantly dumbfounded. ’Isn’t this supposed to be our turf? How...’
"My name is Jiang Li. A pleasure to meet you."
Jiang Li flipped the knife in her hand and charged forward to attack.
Yu Huannian grabbed a stool and smashed it into the fray.
Miao Anji sat down next to the bar, glanced at the liquor bottles on the shelf, and picked one with a pretty design for himself.
’He wasn’t like Yu Huannian. He didn’t do such crude work.’
Before long, the sound of agonized wails rose and fell throughout the bar.
Upstairs, Jia Sheng glanced outside, puzzled. "Do you guys hear something?"
The words had barely left his mouth when the closed door was kicked open by Yu Huannian. One of his men, bruised and swollen, was thrown in front of him.
Jia Sheng shot to his feet. Yu Huannian moved quickly, his ruthless fists felling the few men beside Jia Sheng.
Jiang Li walked in through the doorway and looked at the man standing in the center. "You must be Jia Sheng."
"Jiang Li! What are you doing here?!" Jia Sheng was utterly shocked to see her appear.
’Who the hell exposed our location?’
Jia Sheng had just reached behind him to draw his gun when his wrist twitched uncontrollably, followed by a sharp pang of pain.
Jiang Li had already hooked a tendon in his wrist. Smiling, she asked him, "Know what this is?"
Jia Sheng stared at her in terror, unable to utter a single word.
Then, he watched with his own eyes as that tendon snapped.
"AAAAARGH!" Jia Sheng collapsed to the floor, convulsing and trembling. He scrambled backward as if he had seen a ghost.
Fear spread through his entire body. As he recalled the scene he had just witnessed with his own eyes, his mind and body trembled, and his brain uncontrollably replayed the moment in slow motion.
Yu Huannian brought all the men up, then closed and locked the door.
"Wh-what do you want?" Jia Sheng stammered, trembling all over as he clutched his numb wrist.
"What’s there to be afraid of? Isn’t this the kind of thing you guys love?"
Jia Sheng’s lips turned pale. ’They... even they had never tortured someone like this. Making him watch... Is-is this something a normal person could even think of?’
Jiang Li brandished the knife in her hand. "On the way here, I made a special stop at a shop. The owner is an old master, and his craftsmanship is superb."
"He said the knives he sharpens have no problem cutting through cow bones. Your bones... they can’t be harder than a cow’s, right?"
As she spoke, Jiang Li tapped the blade against a nearby table, and the crisp sound echoed through the room.
The entire group of men began to twitch in fear.
