Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 371 - 370: Living Ore?

Whatever others thought, Faye Yardley was captivated at first sight. The painting had such a wonderful artistic quality, she felt, that it would instantly elevate any living room.

It would add a touch of class to the entire living room just by being there.

"This painting is gorgeous, Sis."

"Right? I think so too. I’ll ask them if they accept commissions."

With that, Faye Yardley sent the artist a message, asking if they had any other paintings for sale and if they also accepted commissions.

The reply came quickly. He said it was possible, but the paints were hard to come by, so it might take some time. Then, he asked if his family could move to her island. He was direct, admitting he didn’t have many other skills, but his family members were all hardworking and kind. He added that his wife, despite her age, had a green thumb and was excellent at growing flowers.

’So in his family, one tends to the flowers while the other wields the brush. They have quite the artistic household.’

Faye Yardley considered it for a moment, then asked an admin from her mega-group to contact the family. As long as there were no major issues, they could come to the island.

’After all, people need more than just the basic necessities of life. They need nourishment for the Spirit, too.’

Before she heard back about the artist’s family, Franklin Yardley arrived with a reply from Marlin: it could be done.

However, Shawn Lawler and Laura Summers had both gone to Lumina and hadn’t returned yet. That meant if she wanted to get her things to the island, she’d have to make the trip back herself.

’Forget it. It’s not that urgent anyway. I’ll just call either Shawn Lawler or Laura Summers and have one of them come back and take it.’

’The cost of a trip back myself would be enough to buy a ton of Flower Dew for the vines.’

’I should save where I can.’

The admin was surprisingly fast. He reported that a friend of his happened to know the family. Overall, they were good people, though they did spoil their grandson a bit. However, the grandson wanted to stay at sea to survive and make his own way in the world. The rest of them, including the artist’s daughter and her family of three, were all willing to move to the island if Faye Yardley approved.

Faye Yardley figured that since their character was fine, and the "spoiled" grandson wanted to stay on his raft and forge his own path, there was no reason to refuse.

She took the list of names, entered them, and the system automatically sent out the island confirmation letters.

With the sudden addition of two new households, Faye Yardley had Franklin Yardley give Wyatt Thorne a heads-up. They would need time to pack and could only head over tomorrow.

And just like that, the National Channel blew up again.

[Hehe, look what I’ve got! An island confirmation letter! HAHAHA! My grandpa is a great painter and asked Yardley if we could get on the island. I can’t believe she just agreed straight away! Tomorrow, my grandpa, my aunt, and her family are all moving to the island!]

[Painting? Since when can you get on the island just for being a good artist? Aaaah!! I’m an expert bed-warmer, Big Shot! Look at me! I’m really, really good at it!]

[Holy crap, who needs a bed-warmer in this heat? You’re an idiot, and the Big Shot isn’t. But hey, Yardley, I give massages. Seriously, twenty years of professional experience. Want a free trial?]

[Holy cow, the Big Shot secretly browses the trading market? Why didn’t you flip a few more pages?! I can carve! I can cook! I’ve seen that painting by Master Sheldon, and I love it too! Big Shot, I could carve a replica of it! Just give me a chance!]

[I just want to know why *you* aren’t going? Trying to become a sea-faring warrior greater than Yardley?]

[You bet! Only by surviving out here at sea, with the system’s help, do I have a chance to become truly powerful. How could I get that chance on my own? Besides, with my family safe on the island, I’ll have nothing holding me back. It’ll make me even more fearless!]

[Felicity Yardley: If you all want to get on an island, you’ll have a faster and better chance with Mr. Langdon’s. As for Faye Yardley’s island, have you ever seen her do any large-scale recruiting?]

[Whoa, hey there, pretty lady. You look a lot like Yardley, and you both have the same last name. So why are you shilling for Island Master Langdon?]

[...]

Faye Yardley happened to see the message from her cousin, Felicity Yardley. She raised an eyebrow and sneered. ’Has that girl become Logan Langdon’s nth mistress or something?’

’Speaking of which, I haven’t heard anything from Gregory Yardley lately. Did he finally get the hint that my brother and I want nothing to do with him and just give up?’

’That doesn’t sound like them at all.’

’Hopefully, that entire branch of the family ended up on Logan Langdon’s island. Felicity must have joined his guild, which would explain why she can still post on the National Channel.’

She immediately called her brother.

"Brother, did you ever add Uncle Jefferson Yardley and his family as friends?"

"I did. Why the sudden question?"
